[16]
has been around for quite some time uh
[18]
so navy federal versus wells fargo so
[20]
guys go ahead and subscribe the channel
[22]
because we're talking about two cash
[24]
back credit cards today that both these
[25]
places um
[26]

[36]

finance particularly in the world of
[40]
credit i enjoy teaching you guys this
[41]
stuff getting to share what i know also
[43]

[44]
stuff share in the comment section below
[46]
because that really does help a lot of
[47]
the other new people that are brand new
[49]
to the world of cred i mean even if
[51]
you've been in credit for years um stuff
[53]
changes and some stuff just
[56]
situations are different for different
[58]
people and some stuff you know two
[59]
people may be in the same situation or
[61]
similar situation you have very
[62]
different results when applying for a
[63]
credit card or a loan or something
[65]
happens their credit score so it's not a
[67]
perfect science okay it's not a perfect
[69]
science so guys go ahead and subscribe
[71]
and let's get going into this video here
[73]
now we are talking about navy federal
[74]
credit union versus wells fargo
[77]
now some of you may be a member of one
[79]
or both of these i was a member of wells
[81]
fargo for like 15 years
[83]
i may go back we'll see depending maybe
[84]
i will get some business cards wells
[86]
fargo we'll see what i wind up doing
[87]
here but i am with navy federal as well
[89]
i do like navy federal and i was so i
[91]
was a member of these uh both of these
[93]
actually for a while at the same time
[95]
now
[96]
navy federal because their credit union
[97]
right they're member owned right they're
[98]
not for profit okay they are the
[101]
biggest uh credit union in the world 9
[103]
million 10 million members something
[104]
like that and then wells fargo they've
[106]
been around you see since 1852
[109]
henry wells and william fargo so they uh
[112]
they've been around for quite some time
[113]
and they were actually um they grew
[115]
interesting story they grew really big
[117]
uh during their um depression that was
[119]
actually when their bank got really big
[121]
they bought a whole bunch of other banks
[122]
that went out of business now coming to
[124]
the cards here talking about this navy
[126]
federal we're talking about the cash
[127]
rewards versus wells fargo's active cash
[129]
credit card now both of these
[132]
are like everyday spending cards right
[133]
you know you can get cash back maybe
[135]
federal you can get some rewards
[136]
obviously in cash back with wells fargo
[138]
as well uh navy photo their credit score
[140]
standards a little bit lower that's one
[141]
of the big reasons people like navy
[143]
federal is because you can have average
[145]
credit and get approved for i've seen
[147]
the videos online if you were getting
[149]
approved for 10 15 20 25 30 000 limits
[152]
with a card like the cash rewards uh
[155]
with navy federal just that's just
[157]
they're known to be a bit more lacks on
[158]
that wells fargo you know they want you
[160]
have good excellent credit so you know
[162]
they're probably gonna be a little bit
[163]
more strict in that regard navy federal
[164]
was known to be more lacks with some of
[166]
their credits um
[168]
card approvals and credit limits that
[169]
they give out to people people also love
[171]
them because you know you can get credit
[172]
limit increases oftentimes without them
[175]
being a hard pull and you can do them
[177]
like every three months or so every few
[179]
billing cycles you can do it so
[181]
navy federal okay with the cash rewards
[183]
we're looking at sign up offers here
[184]
between these two so navy federal right
[186]
now is actually not a great promo
[188]
they're running as of making this video
[190]
a 150 bonus cash back when you spend a
[192]
thousand bucks than 90 days of account
[194]
opening um oftentimes it's actually
[196]
better than that it'll be you know
[198]
250 bucks for spending 2500 that kind of
[201]
thing uh they are also offering those
[202]
zero percent intro apr on balance
[204]
transfers for six months after that the
[206]
apr is going to be the normal rate with
[207]
them which is anywhere between 9.65 and
[210]
18 they don't go over eighteen percent
[211]
of maybe federal now the cash back
[214]
portion of the card is you get one point
[215]
seven five percent cash back on
[217]
purchases when you enroll in direct
[219]
deposit without direct deposit you get
[221]
one and a half percent so still good
[222]
still competitive with many other cards
[224]
but that direct deposit gives you that
[226]
extra quarter of a percent now on the
[227]
wells fargo side you compare the active
[229]
cash credit card you're gonna get a 200
[232]
cash reward uh for spending a thousand
[234]
dollars in the first three months so
[236]
they're giving you a better return on
[237]
spend than navy federalists so i mean
[239]
navy federal is giving you what 15
[241]
return on spend wells fargo is giving
[242]
you 20
[243]
uh for the same amount of money for the
[245]
same amount same length of time like i
[247]
said maybe federal often has a bigger
[249]
cash back signup bonus but you know you
[250]
usually have to spend 2 2500 whatever it
[253]
is now
[255]
wells fargo they're also giving you zero
[256]
percent intro apr on purchases and
[259]
purchases and balance transfers for 15
[261]
months
[262]
that's a tough one for navy federal to
[264]
beat uh 14.99
[266]
19.99 or 24.99 after is what you're
[269]
gonna have um they do have an intro fee
[271]
of either five bucks or three percent of
[273]
the amount of balance transfer whichever
[275]
is greater for the first 120 days and
[277]
then you get up to five percent for each
[278]
balance transfer with a minimum of uh up
[281]
to five percent of each balance transfer
[282]
with a minimum of five
[284]
um dollars after so then unlimited two
[287]
percent cash rewards on purchases so
[289]
they're giving you a little bit better
[290]
return on spend for the bonus um
[293]
and then they are giving you just a
[295]
little bit more in the cash
[296]
um rewards part so whether it's one and
[298]
a half or 1.75 maybe federal those are
[300]
both getting beat by the two percent
[302]
that wells fargo is offering
[304]
that's one of the there's one reason
[305]
people like banks because oftentimes um
[308]
not always but oftentimes banks are able
[310]
to um
[312]
they've got more money right bottom line
[313]
they've got more money so they're
[314]
oftentimes able to give certain offers
[316]
that are a bit better than what a credit
[317]
union can match
[318]
now other benefits we're looking at here
[320]
right we have the 1.75 cash back on all
[323]
purchases of navy federal no annual fee
[325]
balance transfer fee or foreign
[326]
transaction fees with navy federal
[328]
that's one of the big reasons people
[330]
love them is because their lack of fees
[331]
where banks often times have quite a few
[333]
fees uh that credit unions either don't
[335]
have or the banks have higher fees than
[337]
the credit union now there's no rewards
[339]
limit the points never expire with maybe
[340]
federal uh wells fargo you get your cell
[342]
phone protection
[344]
concierge service which i don't know i
[346]
don't know if anybody who actually uses
[347]
those anymore that places offer because
[349]
you have your cell phone now right you
[350]
can always pull out google and search
[352]
for what you need rewards don't expire
[354]
either wells fargo right there plenty of
[355]
online stores you can redeem um your
[357]
points and things like that also you can
[359]
redeem your rewards as a credit to a
[361]
wells fargo credit card checking account
[363]
mortgage stuff like that so
[365]
again they got a variety of options for
[366]
ways you can redeem your points navy
[368]
federal they're going to give you your
[369]
cell phone protection as well right the
[371]
you know credit card reps are available
[373]
24 7. you have a collision damage waiver
[375]
uh wells fargo you can also um use your
[378]
awards to buy tickets right with
[380]
those online you get purchases right you
[382]
can do statement credits um you know to
[384]
cover things you've already purchased
[386]
that kind of thing
[387]
um you can also redeem at atm so you can
[389]
redeem it for gift cards redeem your
[390]
awards for flights car rentals hotel
[392]
stays all the usual stuff that lots of
[394]
big banks and big credit unions offer
[396]
right
[397]
now some of the other fees are well the
[399]
fees you're going to be looking at here
[400]
that you want to see to compare this
[402]
this is a nice side by side we've got
[403]
going here okay
[404]
now
[405]
navy federal the annual fee zero wells
[408]
fargo's annual fee on this also zero so
[410]
foreign transaction fee zero at navy
[413]
federal uh wells fargo looking at three
[415]
percent of each transaction all right
[417]
now uh balance transfer apr navy federal
[420]
zero
[421]
far ago the intro is zero for the 15
[423]
months and then like we said after that
[425]
introductory period you go to 14 i'll
[427]
just say i'll just say 15 20 25 make it
[429]
easy in the navy federal after the
[431]
introductory period uh of six months
[433]
you're going to be 9.65 to 18. now if
[436]
we're looking at cash advance apr at the
[438]
federal it's two percent above your
[440]
variable apr uh until you hit 18 once
[442]
you 18 percent they don't go over that
[444]
so if your apr is 18 then your cash
[446]
advance apr is also going to be 18
[449]
late payment return payment fee with
[450]
navy federal 20 bucks
[452]
is what you're looking at um cash
[454]
advanced fee with wells fargo with
[456]
either 10 10 bucks or 5 of the amount of
[458]
each
[459]
advance uh whichever is greater late
[461]
payment return payment fee up to 40
[463]
dollars which is typical of banks 38 39
[466]
40 bucks seems to be pretty common
[468]
credit union is more likely to be around
[469]
you know 10 15 20 bucks somewhere in
[471]
there um the balance transfer fee on the
[474]
wells fargo is either gonna be five
[475]
dollars or three percent of the amount
[478]
whichever is greater and you have up to
[479]
five percent for each balance transfer
[481]
with a minimum of five bucks
[483]
atm uh cash advance fee for navy federal
[486]
zero if you do it at one of their
[487]
branches but they only got i mean
[489]
they've got branches all over the world
[490]
but i mean i live here in las vegas
[492]
vegas is a couple million people now i
[494]
think they only have three in the vegas
[496]
area so you know they definitely don't
[498]
have as many branches like around most
[500]
areas you're gonna find wells fargo
[501]
you're gonna find way more wells fargo
[502]
uh branches in most major areas than you
[504]
will navy federal outside of that it's
[506]
going to be 50 cents for a domestic
[508]
transaction or a dollar for foreign
[509]
transaction um for a cash advance to be
[512]
with navy federal now
[514]
if you want to join navy federal or
[515]
wells fargo wells fargo like most banks
[517]
you got to be an adult so you had to be
[519]
18. you know you need a valid social
[520]
security number um
[522]
and things like that so i mean you
[524]
basically just have to have those those
[525]
are like the major things you need to
[526]
join a bank uh you also
[528]
important to know you may not qualify
[530]
for additional wells fargo credit card
[531]
if you've opened a wells fargo credit
[533]
card in the last six months good to know
[535]
keep in mind maybe federal to join them
[537]
since they are crediting they've got
[538]
more stringent requirements credit
[540]
unions if you don't know
[541]
oftentimes have restrictions on who can
[543]
join either by geographic area by
[545]
employment right certain you know
[546]
certain employers um their employees are
[549]
eligible for credit unions and things
[550]
like that some credit unions only serve
[552]
certain counties or even a certain state
[555]
some they serve other states even if you
[557]
don't live in a particular state you can
[558]
you know donate to a
[560]
non-profit organization and you can
[562]
still join that way but navy federal
[564]
largely obviously pertains to the
[565]
military but you don't have to be
[566]
military so military of course can join
[568]
but also pretty much any immediate
[570]
family member can join as well including
[572]
household members uh for navy federal
[574]
credit union also even if you're not
[576]
military or related to some of the
[577]
military if you're a civilian who's a
[579]
department of defense employee then you
[581]
can join as well so
[583]
these are the connections you have to
[584]
have um you know so you have to meet one
[587]
of these requirements so if you're not
[588]
in the military yourself you need to
[590]
have that direct immediate family member
[591]
connection or be a household member uh
[593]
or be basically a dod civilian or dod
[596]
contractor something along those lines
[598]
you can find out more on their website
[599]
but that's what you need to know if you
[600]
want to join navy federal
[602]
and with all that being said go ahead
[603]
and subscribe to the channel i hope you
[604]
guys enjoyed this breakdown these two
[606]
cards um had some similar wars you guys
[608]
saw they were similar enough in some
[610]
sense that you know they were comparable
[612]
i felt so i wanted you guys to tell me
[613]
if you got one or both these cards let
[615]
me hear about it down below what you
[616]
like about them which you don't like and
[618]
that's gonna be for this video guys i
[619]

[621]
and until next time keep growing your
[623]
