(I do the bush dye on silk scarf and)

(I’m just taking out this scarf out of the pot)

(that was here for three to two days)

(It's an order for a lady down in Brisbane)

(The dye is the Bloodwood tree)

(Bloodwood bark that I've used here)

(and)

What I'm gonna do is

undo the scarf and

take out the blocks

out of it and see the shapes of it.

This is the scarf that I've done

for an order,

so I'm gonna post it today.

(This relationship,)

(this partnership of reciprocity that we’re)

engaging in now with SVA

is going to help us plan for

many good things to happen

in the community.

We can provide much support and knowledge and information to SVA

and those that support SVA

to work with communities like ours,

to work with organisations like this women’s organisation

to bring about positive benefits

over a long term.

It certainly evolved from a place where

when it was an art therapy,

women came that were experiencing

domestic violence and it was just a place

for them to do a activity,

(but it certainly has evolved into)

(a social enterprise now)

(and the women that use,)

(that are coming in every day now,)

(when they first arrived to them it was)

(still an activity)

(and then they realised after)

(people started coming in and saying)

("Can I buy that off you?")

(They realised that they could start)

(to make some money out of what)

(they were producing.)

Hi my name is April Jones.

I'm doing my block painting,

with my porcupine.

(It's also around the fact that they're)

(providing for their family)

(and that their younger members)

(of the family, seeing them come and do)

(this work every day)

(and that they're really believing)

(in what it is that they're doing,

(cause each of the pieces that they're creating)

(has a story)

(and that story connects back to their family.)

(So to see their family members seeing them)

(earn money out of what they're making)

(is just you know, fantastic for,)

for them,

as the individuals, the ladies that come here,

but also for their family.

This one here,

they have them in the desert.

(the old people used to have them)

(in the desert.)

It tells a lot of stories

that the old people teach me.

They go to country.

These are my two Boab nuts.

I like painting turtle

(and freshwater mussels.)

We very much see this as

the beginnings of a longer term relationship

and I think that's the message

that we need to communicate through to

our funders of SVA,

who are enabling these relationships to develop,

that this is about a longer term partnership

and this is what we want because that's

more meaningful.

It's about bringing long term and sustainable

positive developments in the community

where not just the women can participate in,

but the women can share their knowledge

with our partners, but with families

and their own children and

the youth of our communities.

So that we can ensure the knowledge

that the women have is passed on

to our future generation of women leaders

in our community.

I like coming here

doing my work, basket weaving

and I paint Boab nut

and it's really good to paint Boab nut

because we tell a story about

bush tucker that we get from out in the desert

and how like our mothers and grandmothers taught us

to get a bush feed.

And I want other ladies out there,

come make baskets

to make money for your mob and

paint Boab nut too,

to keep your family going.
