Here鈥檚 Why Saturn Stopped Making Cars - YouTube

Rev up your engines,
uhh says any opinions on saturn cars in general,
[8]
gm branded off and said, oh we're going to
brand off and make another kind of car called
[11]
saturn, they started making little cars with
4 cylinder engines and they were ok car, they
[17]
weren't great cars, but they were cheaper
cars and you know they kind of ran ok, but
[23]
it was gm so as time went on they started
making them cheaper and cheaper, now the customers
[30]
of mine that had manual transmission and 4
cylinder engines they loved them, the ones
[34]
with automatics, not so much, cuz when they
went out and they went out all the time, even
[39]
back then it was like $3,500 and up to rebuild
them, cuz they were all electronic computer
[45]
controlled transmissions, very very difficult
to rebuild, so they had that issue, then they
[51]
started putting bigger engines in, they put
honda v6 engines in them, and those were good
[57]
engines, but then honda said, you got to put
the honda coolant not your stupid dex cool
[61]
coolant and gm said, it's our production line
we're putting dex cool in, so then honda said,
[66]
then we're not going to sell you our v6 engine
anymore, so then saturn started making their
[71]
own gm v6 engines and they were piles of junk,
and that led to the end of saturn really,
[76]
they were so junky the engines kept blowing
and people didn't want to buy them anymore,
[80]
so if you're going to buy a used one, get
a 4 cylinder one, they can be ok, and you
[82]
can get them dirt cheap, luke says are 3rd
generation firebirds a good project car for
[87]
beginners, any tips thanks, I'd go a little
bit earlier on the firebirds myself, those
[92]
were kind of cheaply made, I personally would
not be a big fan of the 3rd generation ones,
[98]
now if you like them, I mean you can go right
ahead, their simpler than the modern ones
[103]
that's for sure, gm electronics have gotten
worse over time and more computerized, I'd
[108]
go for the earlier generations if you want
to do a firebird, I wouldn't go for the later
[112]
ones, they had a lot of problems with them,
that generation,
[116]
hands boy says my 08 dodge durango had an
engine failure, I fixed it for $8,000 and
[123]
ever since my car has a smoking engine every
time I start, what do you think it is, well
[127]
you paid $8,000 and they didn't fix your engine
right, you have you engine rebuilt for $8,000
[131]
they should have rebuilt everything, rings,
bearings, cams, crank, pistons, everything,
[139]
they did a bad job if it's smoking that means
they didn't rebuild it right, for that kind
[143]
of money you should of just got an engine,
buy another engine, for $8,000 you should
[147]
of bought a new one, a new engine, not even
remanufactured, a brand new one for that kind
[152]
of money, you got taken if it's smoking, go
back to whoever did it and see if you can
[156]
get your money back if their not going to
make it so it doesn't smoke, they just did
[159]
a bad job, and I see that all the time, that's
why I warn people about when they got older
[164]
vehicle and the engine goes out, if they can
get a new one in or a remanufactured one,
[170]
go ahead if you want to spend that kind of
money, but guys that just put engine in these
[174]
days, a lot of times they go to a junkyard
and just throw some used unit in, it's not
[178]
worth while doing it on most vehicles anymore,
it really isn't,
[182]
sarah says scotty I got a 69 ford falcon futura,
oh that's cool, it hasn't been started in
[187]
over 26 years, what should I do to get it
running, the car was made in Chile wow, watch
[192]
my video, getting an old car running that
hasn't started for years, and that will give
[196]
you all the tips, basically you want to take
all the spark plugs out, squirt some oil in
[202]
them, then put a new battery in and first
just crank it over with the spark plugs out
[207]
to see if the engine spins, then if it spins
great, put the spark plugs back in, spray
[211]
a little starting fluid and make sure all
the oil and fluid like the radiator are full,
[216]
and then see if you can get the thing running,
but watch the video it gives you a whole bunch
[219]
of tips,
urn says scotty my 03 4.6 v8 f150 is leaking
[224]
power steering fluid, how do I know if it's
the pump or just the hose, power steering
[228]
fluid those pumps can put up like 1,600 psi
pressure, that's a lot of pressure, generally
[235]
if it's a hose look at the hose with a bright
old flashlight, you know I mean I got a lot
[240]
of good bright flashlights, just shin it in
there and have somebody turn the wheel and
[244]
look at the hose and if you see it's squirting
out of the hose you know the hose is leaking,
[248]
if it's the pump you'll see it leaking on
the shaft of the pump and going down, and
[253]
you want to pray it's not the rack, because
if it's the rack they generally leak at each
[258]
end, if you squeeze those rubber boots and
fluid leaks out, that means the rack is leaking
[262]
and it costs a fortune to put a rack on, those
are very expensive to do,
[267]
ozzy says can a clogged radiator or heater
core cause pressure build up in the engine,
[273]
well yes of course it can, any kind of clogs
it's gonna stop there and then the engine
[279]
is building up heat and instead of sending
that hot water into the radiator it's blocked,
[284]
so it will build up pressure, here in Texas
we don't really need heat all that often,
[288]
at least in South Texas, what we do is, if
a heater core let's say breaks down, we will
[293]
bypass it, but when you do want to bypass
it, you have to get a heater bypass hose kit
[300]
and you cut the two hoses going into the firewall
and you splice them together with the kit,
[306]
cuz most engines today, if you just plug those
hoses, that water has to go through the head
[313]
too, so you want to keep it circulating, and
if the heater core itself is clogged, yeah
[318]
that will clog some of that and you can have
overheating problems,
[320]
so if you never want to miss another one of
my new car repair videos, remember to ring
[327]
that bell!
