[6]
hi i'm cristal sard director of business
[8]
development and today we have todd
[10]
Grubbs
[10]
our CEO and we're gonna talk about our
[12]
retail practice here at wi it's on what
[16]
what goes into our retail practice well
[19]
as a reseller and a technology partner
[21]
for our customers
[22]
retail practice to us means a retail
[25]
practice tackles the individual
[27]
challenges that a retail company might
[28]
have that a centralized or campus based
[31]
or datacenter based company might not
[34]
have and that includes the fact that
[35]
they have multiple stores on multi
[38]
branch locations and all of that
[40]
technology might need to be managed by
[42]
the store manager and a small crew there
[44]
might not be any IT help there at all
[47]
so the solution needs to be appropriate
[48]
to be managed that way and the
[50]
operations to get it into their hands
[52]
needs to be managed in a scalable and
[54]
efficient model and operationally how
[56]
are we scale to support that what we do
[59]
is we keep a bench here of operational
[62]
people that will kit the equipment make
[64]
sure it's all of the proper BIOS and
[66]
firmware ready to go when it hits the
[67]
stores we keep project managers here and
[70]
logistics folks to make sure that all
[72]
that information to make sure it's
[73]
scalable and on time happens every
[76]
single time great and are there any
[77]
concerns with having customer data
[79]
on-site and what are we doing to protect
[81]
their data the technology solution if
[83]
designed appropriately if it's the right
[84]
architecture should have all of the
[86]
connectivity but security as well built
[89]
in in place that's another example of
[91]
how retail can be different than
[93]
centralized if I'm in a centralized
[95]
location I have IT folks there that can
[97]
think about security every single day
[98]
they manage it they're in control of it
[100]
when I go out to 40 or 400 or 4,000
[104]
stores that can get away from me so the
[106]
solution needs to be correct and the
[108]
operations need to be correct ok cool
[110]
so Todd operationally that seems like a
[112]
lot of moving parts is it not it is a
[114]
lot of moving parts and that's the
[116]
challenge that a lot of these companies
[117]
have if they have multi branch or multi
[119]
locations is they don't really have the
[121]
personnel to scale that way they need to
[123]
rely on a technology partner we
[125]
completed a deal that had 20,000
[128]
man-hours over a hundred thousand parts
[130]
for two thousand stores
[132]
that company was expanding but there was
[134]
no way that they could scale that way
[135]
there's no way they could roll out all
[137]
that year there's no way they could kit
[138]
all that gear warehouse it get it to
[141]
work appropriately and in the fashion
[143]
they needed it to it would have taken
[144]
them two years we did it in 22 weeks
[146]
awesome and that efficiency must help a
[149]
customer save money time to market time
[152]
to revenue these are really important
[154]
things remember technology for a retail
[156]
company is very often part of their
[157]
solutions part of their product set the
[159]
quicker they get it going the quicker
[161]
they can monetize that technology and
[163]
add it into their customer experience
[165]
and once we're deploying that solution
[167]
into a store or another branch what are
[169]
we doing to support that solution after
[171]
its deployed
[172]
well it's good question because that's
[174]
equally important by the same token when
[176]
they don't have an IT person there to
[177]
roll out the gear they also don't have
[179]
an IT person there to support it so all
[181]
the Depot warranty the extended
[183]
warranties the returns the the fact that
[186]
the customized packaging that allows the
[188]
manager to get it back to us if it needs
[190]
to come back refreshing all the
[191]
technology these are all operational
[194]
challenges they would face many many
[196]
hundreds of times if they have hundreds
[197]
of stores so as the technology partner
[200]
we step in there and we help them with
[201]
that experience and it reduces effects
[205]
it improves their time to get the
[207]
products going and it allows the store
[209]
manager to focus on what he needs to be
[210]
focused on so Todd part of our mission
[212]
here WI is to build a custom innovative
[215]
IT solution for our customers what is
[217]
one way operationally we are showing
[219]
innovation well it's a good question
[221]
because it's not just innovation in the
[223]
technology which we do very well but we
[225]
try to innovate in the process as well
[227]
that matters just as much to these
[229]
retail or multi branch companies so the
[232]
first thing we'll do is we'll have our
[233]
team meet with their team and see what
[235]
is the right cadence what is the best
[236]
method of communication we'll build a
[238]
project plan that fits them and in
[241]
almost every case those are customizable
[243]
plans will build portals will build
[245]
reports exactly the way they need them
[247]
that way they can deal with the
[249]
information in an efficient way
[250]
great
[251]
you
