When is the Best Time to Book a Flight? - YouTube

hey guys I stumbled across a few articles  lately that explain when the best time to  

buy flights is when you can get the cheapest  rates for flights so I thought this would be  

an interesting video to share this information  with you and where you can actually find it and  

here we go so I found two different articles  here they seem pretty reliable one of them  

is from Skyscanner I've definitely heard of  this one before and and they can find cheap  

flights and the other one is from cheap air  comm so I'm just going to go through these  

two reports for you and kind of break out  the interesting information so first of all  

this Skyscanner report is explaining when the  best time to book a flight is domestically and  

then internationally so here they say how far  in advance for them domestic is about 30 days  

last month the book is August day of the week  is Saturday and internationally you want to  

book a lot farther in advance about four months  in advance September is the best month day of  

the week Sundays so they've gathered all this  data from from their databases and they're also  

able to come up with a few other statistics  this is what we saw already August for the  

cheapest cheapest month for domestic flights  September for international flights and the  

best day so that just just breaks it down more  data there I'll I'll provide the link for this  

website in the description so I thought that was  very useful and it does it does defer a little  

bit with this other cheap air article that I  found I'll put this one in the description as  

well but they've been doing this for five  years they release a report every year and

they break it down a little bit differently here  we have an infographic that I love I mean look at  

this it shows when you can get first dibs which  means you can have you know the best seats the  

best seat selection also peace of mind that blue  area you will find the flights and it won't be  

the lowest prices but it won't be the highest  prices and the prime booking window there is  

what we're really interested in right now 115 to  21 days in advance and this is just for domestic  

flights not international flights so we'll defer  to that other article for international flights  

and here they say that the best time to book your  flight is approximately well exactly 76 days out  

from your travel date that was for 2018 2017 it  was 70 days so give or take 70 76 days a little  

over two months basically generally will be a good  time to book your flight so you can see there in  

the infographic about 76 days for this this one  is when it was the lowest price so a little bit  

more don't book I mean you're pushing your luck  if you don't book at least 21 days in advance  

prices will go up and the closer you get to the  flight the more expensive it will be after that

another thing that's interesting that they have  here is the seasonality so depending on the  

season the best time to book a flight can vary  here we see if you're booking a flight for the  

winter by ninety four days in advance 84 days in  advance for the spring 99 and if in advance for  

the summer and 69 days in advance for the fall so  that's on average again it's not going to be exact  

but they they basically say you know these are  these are the averages these are the the numbers  

but you're better off to kind of just go with that  you're best off to just go with that prime booking  

window and not waiting for a big drop in prices  it's best to just go somewhere in there between  

21 and 115 days obviously things fluctuate but  if you go into that window you're probably going  

to get a decently cheap flight so I know that a  lot of you have watched my Hawaii cruise videos  

and you may be interested in the Hawaii flights  and that breakdown it's actually significantly  

different from other domestic flights within  the US and they actually have a another link  

here which I've opened up in this tab that  describes when the best time to buy flights  

to Hawaii is so what they say is obviously visit  during less-popular times and avoid let's see  

avoid June July in August's and avoid December in  January so if you do the rest of the the months  

of the year you're gonna have a better chance  at a cheaper flight and recently I don't know  

if you've heard about this I certainly had before  as well that Southwest earlier this year started  

offering cheap flights to Hawaii so some of them  are not cheap but there are a lot of the a lot of  

flights that are really cheap from Southwest to  Hawaii so this is from the California gateways  

Oakland San Jose Los Angeles Ontario Orange County  and Long Beach and that should start to drive down  

the prices of other airline carriers as well to  Hawaii so good news for everyone another thing  

for Hawaii don't fly on the weekends if you can  help it try to hit for like a Tuesday or Wednesday  

according to the cheap air those are the those are  going to get you your cheapest flights to Hawaii  

the most expensive day tend to be Thursday through  Sunday with Sunday the worst day to find a bargain

in the fall the best time to buy is about two  months out and in the winter about four months  

out and then busy summer you only need about  three weeks in advance to find the best air  

fares okay so Hawaii's a little bit different I  thought that was interesting thought you might
