Channel: Trucking Safety & Compliance, with Safety Dawg

[0]
so you get a recommendation letter for
[2]
your insurance company
[3]
what the heck do you do about it? Stay tuned,
[6]
that's exactly what safety dawg is
[9]
discussing next!
[11]
welcome to safety dawg EDU. welcome back!
[21]
recommendation letter you received one
[23]
from your insurance company now what the
[28]
heck do you do? there is a list on it,
[31]
I hope it's a short list, but a list of
[33]
recommendations or suggestions to help
[35]
you improve your business and the safety
[39]
department. so now what?
[41]
first things first, don't ignore this
[44]
letter. it is so crucial that you just
[47]
don't throw the letter into a drawer and
[49]
forget about it.
[51]
your insurance company has some
[53]
suggestions or best practices that may
[57]
just help you. believe it or not your
[60]
insurance provider really does have your
[63]
best interest at heart.
[65]
you need to take this message seriously.
[68]
you need to respond and respond ASAP.
[71]
insurance company sent you a letter
[76]
therefore you must also respond in
[79]
writing or with a letter. your first
[82]
response can be simply a thank-you
[85]
letter. a note expressing your thanks for
[89]
the suggestions and the recommendations
[90]
that the insurance company has given to
[93]
you. you will also want to add that you
[97]
will respond with an action plan
[99]
addressing the concerns or the
[102]
suggestions by a specified time. so now
[106]
you've got to create a corrective action
[110]
plan. this is what the insurance provider
[112]
wants to see. you take this seriously and
[115]
you take action now before the specified
[118]
date, stated in the previous letter. you want
[121]
to have sent to your insurance provider or
[123]
company your action plan letter. you want
[127]
to address each of their concerns one
[131]
buy one. you need to specify how each
[135]
concern will be addressed by whom and
[139]
the expected the of completion.
[142]
if you require more information about a
[144]
suggestion that your insurance provider
[146]
has made you should ask them for it, in
[150]
either the first correspondence or in
[153]
this letter. any later than than letter number two,
[156]
the insurance company may think that
[159]
you're not taking this process seriously.
[161]
they need to understand that you are
[165]
taking this to heart and that you are
[168]
more than willing to react to each
[171]
recommendation.
[173]
what if you don't agree with the
[175]
suggestion because it just won't work
[177]
for your company? you need to explain
[179]
that in detail to your insurance
[181]
provider. the details need to say why it
[185]
will not work. if there's an alternate
[188]
way to address the insurance companies
[190]
concern you can elaborate on it here. you
[193]
can express how you're going to meet
[196]
their concern but in a different way.
[198]
not every suggestion is always going to
[201]
work for each and every company. it is ok
[205]
it will not work for yours. but you'd
[208]
better address why it will work. so far
[212]
you have sent a thank-you letter and now
[215]
an action plan correspondence. now you
[219]
just have one or two more letters to go.
[222]
if the list of recommendations was not
[226]
very long you could likely get away with
[228]
just one more letter. in this letter you
[231]
outline that you have corrected or
[233]
implemented each of the suggestions on
[237]
or before the date, you committed to
[240]
in the action plan message.
[242]
yes on or before the date that you
[246]
committed to. remember that you put the
[249]
dates and writing. that makes it a
[251]
promise to your insurance company and
[254]
you need to keep your promises or all
[256]
your pledges. if you do have the miss
[261]
commitment before the determination the
[263]
write
[264]
to the insurance company and explain why
[266]
this is going to happen and that you
[269]
remain committed to meeting this goal.
[272]
set a new date in this letter and don't
[275]
you dare miss it. now you set the new
[278]
date, you already missed the first one.
[280]
you don't want to miss the second one. if
[284]
you follow this outline for responding
[286]
to your insurance company letters, meet
[288]
the commitments on you stated you will
[291]
surely impress your insurance provider!
[293]
you will also have improved your
[295]
company's compliance and its safety.
[299]

[302]
improvement and it's imperative that you
