How to Save a PDF that's Embedded in a Website - YouTube

Hey, what is up nation!
[0]
In this session I'm going to teach you how to download a
[3]
PDF that's embedded within a website.
[18]
Alright, so a lot of times I will reference certain things that are PDFs
[23]
on websites, so one of those things a lot of the time is building codes, so if I
[28]
type in IBC 2009 at the International Building Code to this night it takes me
[34]
to ICC safe. I'm not exactly sure how the licensing here works, why they give it
[44]
free on their website, why you can maybe you can't buy older versions and that's
[51]
why they do it, I'm not sure, so look into that ,if you're worried about that, but so
[57]
I can bring this up and then you see here there's a little scroll bar and I
[60]
can see that but there's no way to download this like if I right click
[63]
there's nothing there, if I expand there's nothing, and if I hit viewer j/s
[70]
it just gives me some information and this is just kind of annoying, if for
[74]
whatever reason we lose Internet and I won't be able to access this, so and it's
[81]
just annoying to have to like come through the code in this manner, it'd be
[85]
nice to have one volume of PDF that I can search through because chances are
[90]
you'll have to flip through different sections and it's annoying to have to
[93]
click through every time. So it's just nice to have it in one spot, so what I'm
[103]
gonna show here is that I'm using Chrome and if I just want to download this PDF
[108]
I can do that, but you sort of have to do a little bit of a workaround. So what you
[115]
do is you right-click when you have Chrome open, and the website that has
[118]
this and go to inspect. It's gonna pop up this little window, ok, so now you can see
[124]
both windows this is what it'll look like there's this little slider thing
[127]
you want to move, and if I go down, you can see that as I scroll, things
[134]
start to get highlighted, so you just want to sort of select what you want and
[138]
then you can see here there's a whole web code, so it's looking at the
[145]
source and it's finding this area, so actually what's happening is that it's
[151]
saying "Hey, this is the PDF that I want to draw from", and then this source here
[157]
is saying this is the location that is, but when I click on it, so if I double
[164]
click on that and then hit control+C, I can't just simply paste this in, because
[169]
it's not an actual web site, so what you need to do is this slash, means hey for
[176]
the sort of like the primary web site, we're gonna go from there,
[180]
so you can see, you want to delete this first slash, and then control+V or paste
[188]
it right click paste, you can see it brings this up and now there's an option
[192]
to download. Alternatively if I go back, if you don't want to do that as you
[198]
don't remember to do that, how you come up here to the top and go to properties,
[203]
and then where it says iFrame the iFrame is like this window that the PDF is
[207]
contained within, so this is a bunch of information about that, if you scroll
[211]
down to the bottom, you'll see that there is a source listed SRC stands for source,
[218]
and that is the entire web address of that PDF, so you can just come in here
[224]
and copy that, copy and paste that up here, and it'll bring that up, and you can
[234]
save as or demo.
