Cramer's game plan for the trading week of May 2 - YouTube

Channel: CNBC Television

[1]
my mission is simple
[3]
to make you money
[5]
i'm here to level the playing field for
[7]
all investors there's always a homework
[9]
at somewhere and i promise to help you
[12]
find it mad money starts now
[19]
hey i'm kramer welcome to mad money
[22]
welcome to create america other people
[24]
make friends i'm just trying to save you
[26]
a little money on one of the worst days
[27]
i've seen in my career so call me at
[31]
1-800-743-cbc tweet me jim cramer look
[35]
at least it's over
[36]
i'm talking about this miserable month
[38]
of april where the dow plunged more than
[40]
1700 points has to be plummeted percent
[43]
and then
[44]
the nasdaq no it went down
[48]
13.3 percent
[53]
worst month since 2008
[58]
wow
[60]
normally april's a good month for the
[62]
stock market the last truly april i
[64]
remember it was like this was in 2000
[67]
right after the dot-com peak it was
[68]
april 14 to 17. we had all this junk
[71]
that recently come public more than
[72]
300.com ipos and their and their
[75]
relatives and they dwindled to nothing i
[77]
mean like nothing sounds a lot like the
[80]
ipos and spec mergers we had in the last
[82]
couple of years doesn't it i mean i i
[84]
guess people must have been thinking
[86]
something there was someone today saying
[88]
hey look putin means what he's been
[89]
saying which obviously is bad and there
[91]
are other people just said just get me
[93]
out
[94]
so today was a fitting coder to this
[96]
month's relentless grind
[98]
and i've got to tell you if you just
[100]
look at today dal
[102]
losing 939 points s p 156 look at this
[106]
three point six weeks and then the
[108]
nasdaq i mean i won like 230 this thing
[110]
was down 200 points and it's down
[113]
4.17 percent that's the definition of
[115]
bad this is a market where you can't get
[117]
excited to buy anything or
[119]
anything on our update we went over for
[121]
the trust i said let's just buy one
[123]
stock i mean i i've i just won stock
[125]
let's pick at something and you know why
[127]
we didn't want to be more aggressive
[129]
because once again it was an old fang
[130]
name how the heck did i come up with
[132]
that that was good for about 8 years
[133]
that blew us out of the water and it was
[135]
amazon
[136]
and its weakness reverberated throughout
[138]
the entire market hey throw an apple
[140]
saying the china's lockdown might cost
[142]
them 48 billion or more sales and you
[144]
had a real recipe for pain
[147]
now i get when amazon's in the in the um
[149]
in the penalty box that was not a good
[151]
quarter and i'm glad to get sold a lot
[154]
but apple's a different story
[156]
once again i'm saying it own it don't
[158]
trade it that was a good quarter and i
[160]
spent enough time with luca maestri
[162]
who's the cfo and tim cook who's the ceo
[164]
yesterday to go through the numbers and
[167]
know they were really great and i'm
[169]
hoping that next week should be better
[171]
now look i've got to tell you i don't
[173]
expect a good day monday when you have a
[175]
really horrible day like today sometimes
[177]
you get a bounce all right
[179]
right in you get a bounce and what
[181]
you've got to do is you must sell that
[183]
bounce
[184]
all right because then you're gonna get
[186]
a better moment after europe closes
[188]
think about 11 11 30. now we do have a
[191]
break fewer big companies are going to
[194]
be reporting that is going to allow us
[195]
to catch our breath this was in all the
[197]
reporting periods that i've done and
[199]
remember you can think about it for a
[200]
year of this week and i've been in this
[202]
business for more than 40 years this was
[204]
the hardest i've ever seen too many new
[207]
companies too many companies that were
[208]
controversial this next week will be a
[211]
lot easier plus we have warren buffett
[214]
who's likely to favor us with some
[216]
positive comments about a host of stocks
[218]
and make us feel better it's okay you
[220]
can watch them all day tomorrow on our
[221]
network that's what i'm gonna do now if
[224]
i know anything about buffett he'll tell
[226]
us to sell off as a buying opportunity
[227]
not a disaster in the making you may
[229]
think it's glib you may think it's like
[231]
so what he's rich i'm not but just let's
[233]
just listen okay
[234]
and with that in mind let's go to our
[236]
game plan
[237]
and i'm going on companies that i think
[238]
are going to be remember i don't want an
[241]
up opening because you'll get crushed
[243]
okay like
[244]
you'll get crushed like one of those
[246]
flies on a windshield outside of
[248]
tallahassee where everywhere i went i
[249]
used my bed to use the windshield wipers
[252]
uh since the peak of november i've been
[254]
saying you want profitable companies
[256]
that make something real return capital
[259]
shareholders and have reasonably priced
[261]
stocks that's our monster for the cmc
[262]
investing club which has its meeting by
[264]
the way on thursday
[268]
this this time i'm doing a little
[269]
different this time you're going to see
[271]
the completely tortured
[273]
stubborn
[275]
raw side of me this is not it believe it
[277]
or not
[280]
anyway my mantra has saved you a ton of
[283]
money which is why i love what do i love
[285]
i love the oil companies we own we own
[288]
so many oils for the trust it's great
[290]
massive variable dividends from devon
[294]
from devon on monday we hear from the
[295]
man who pioneered this new model of
[297]
dividends not just hey where else is the
[298]
kind of two later on the show you don't
[300]
like it rick moncrief the ceo of devon
[302]
energy he'll explain how his company
[304]
will continue to show great discipline
[306]
perhaps returning a dividend equal to
[307]
seven percent hey by the way that's
[309]
better than your cd that you're running
[311]
to our treasury
[313]
much better
[315]
next we're on the lookout for companies
[316]
that have stalled and raised their
[317]
prices because there may be too much
[318]
capacity likely place mosaic which makes
[321]
fertilizer we have a big deficit in what
[323]
we're making down on the farm even as
[325]
the business is booming if mosaic sees
[327]
pricing topping out
[329]
well and i don't see it by the way but
[330]
let's see then jay pal might not have to
[332]
raise interest rates as aggressive as he
[334]
thought hey by the way hey you could
[336]
argue that jay without doing anything
[338]
has crushed the stock market which is a
[340]
major way that we have that rich people
[342]
spend money and i'm a congress into that
[344]
and he's getting the job done i didn't
[346]
even do anything yet all right now we're
[348]
also going to get the results of clorox
[349]
they've had a couple of really awful
[351]
quarters let's just call it as we see it
[352]
all right uh the company doesn't need
[354]
the blow away numbers this time they
[356]
just need to put up a decent one all
[358]
right and that could send this tattered
[359]
stock higher they've got to do something
[361]
with that supplements business the
[363]
supplements business is a lousy business
[365]
tuesday morning we start with pfizer
[367]
which has made so much money for the
[368]
pandemic that i hope they consider
[370]
buying another drug company make up for
[372]
some looming patent expirations over the
[373]
next few years geez hey you see that
[375]
stock today i mean this thing is getting
[377]
crushed
[378]
good yield six times earnings now here's
[380]
the 39 times earnings once i like estee
[382]
lauder but the market has turned against
[384]
it because it's too expensive even
[386]
though it's like lvmh they're betting
[387]
the companies key asian markets are
[389]
going to be closed thanks to covet i'm
[391]
betting with the ceo fabrizio freda he
[393]
has tackled that problem he's the best
[395]
in the business you want a former high
[396]
flyer that i think can fly again
[399]
remember this one amd lisa sue yeah now
[402]
they just swallowed xilinx it was just
[404]
another semiconductor company but in a
[405]
lot of different lines of business and
[406]
they may very well report an upside not
[408]
that anybody cares given how far the
[411]
semiconductor stock has fallen from its
[412]
highs though
[414]
even an inline quarter could send it
[417]
flying i am itching to tell you to buy
[419]
the stock we sold much higher in a down
[421]
opening on monday we'll be frozen from
[423]
doing so now because i just said this we
[425]
hear from airbnb too and i think the
[427]
strong travel data we've seen lately
[429]
means that they'll have a decent set of
[431]
numbers airbnb is one of the few real
[433]
winners from a period where they weren't
[435]
too many good stocks i think it could
[437]
tell a great story but it's a very high
[438]
priced journeys multiple so once again
[440]
it may not matter
[442]
after the close starbucks howard schultz
[445]
back this time focused on the workers
[448]
not you i think this quarter would be
[450]
rough no matter what lockdown in china
[452]
but it'll hurt even more now that
[453]
imagine feels the need to be able to say
[455]
to the employees you don't need union
[456]
we'll take care of you wednesday morning
[458]
cvs help health
[460]
ever since they became a health company
[462]
i like that i was going to be
[463]
capitalizing on the kobe vaccine i think
[465]
a lot of people have rediscovered cvs
[467]
they like it recognize it i still can't
[469]
use the scanners monder on the other
[471]
hand has needed capitalism
[473]
these guys have so much money from the
[475]
kobe vaccine but now they have to do
[477]
something to broaden their portfolio it
[478]
can't be a one-trick pony i wish we
[480]
could take b-52s fly over china and drop
[483]
moderna next we had a great number this
[485]
week from chipotle nothing anybody cared
[487]
so how about yum brands parent of pizza
[489]
kfc and taco bell while chipotle owns
[492]
all of its stores yum is heavily
[493]
franchised hey how about the difference
[495]
i think that the difference is
[497]
chipotle's better tasted also let's see
[499]
if they're having the same success
[500]
finding workers at chipotle thursday
[503]
remember i like the oils it's conical
[504]
phillips all right
[506]
um
[507]
all right we'll maybe switch the date
[509]
there uh i i like kind of close i think
[511]
it'll be fabulous with a good balance of
[513]
natural gas and crude as i've said
[515]
before i'm always on the lookout for
[517]
situations where commodity costs are
[518]
peaking because more supplies come
[520]
online the most logical place to look is
[523]
a company called westrock
[524]
okay they make paper board
[526]
and there's no industry we're willing to
[528]
put up new factories to change just to
[530]
be able to chase demand than the paper
[532]
industry i know that my father was in
[533]
here for six for 60 years jay pal listen
[536]
up when paper peaks you know we're going
[538]
to get inflation under control if it
[540]
hasn't peaked well
[542]
it's your ball game you want the most
[543]
consistent earner for the week the one
[545]
that's going to be the best it's going
[547]
to be zoetis why was healthcare company
[549]
pet healthcare i can't believe how well
[551]
this company's run spun off by five or
[553]
nine years ago i think ceo kristen peck
[555]
will put up great numbers you only have
[556]
to buy something into the down three
[558]
percent that i expect here go for zoetis
[561]
thursday morning shopify i just
[563]
mentioned because it's been cut in half
[564]
truly plummeted online fulfillment
[566]
expert for small medium-sized business
[568]
pigeon hole is a lockdown company not
[570]
true it's a company for all seasons but
[572]
nobody believes me anymore about that
[573]
stuff even a great quarter might not
[575]
matter being a little cynical remember
[577]
how i said the airbnb was one of the few
[578]
companies that's gotten through this
[580]
period of flying colors well the other
[581]
one is doordash okay tony's shoe people
[584]
love to eat at home and they buy their
[586]
own liquor rather than paying through
[587]
the nose for drinks at my former
[589]
restaurant and every other restaurant
[591]
but the standard is high these days so
[593]
if doordash doesn't beat handily it's a
[595]
lookout below
[596]
oh and then me again
[598]
kind of in the way i am right now a
[600]
little raw
[602]
friday under armor and all i can say is
[604]
lulu's crushing them and says stay away
[607]
i'm going to listen because it's a
[608]
homework oriented but lou is a good
[610]
stock to buy into the weakness i like
[611]
the oil pipelines too and bridge my
[613]
favorite it's got a real nice shield
[615]
they can afford to raise it they're down
[616]
there and the gulf looks real good
[618]
finally let's not forget that we're
[619]
going to have some number that
[621]
everybody's going to interpret as
[623]
negative except for me because we're
[624]
going to be so far down that it's going
[626]
to look up to me it's possible the job
[629]
numbers will have peaked because
[630]
companies that hired extra workers so
[632]
they'd be covered during the worst days
[634]
the pandemic have started to let them go
[636]
go listen to the amazon call that'd be
[638]
very good news for a stock market that's
[639]
terrified or of inflation
[641]
more on that later do you know if putin
[643]
didn't have nukes and china wasn't
[645]
stupid enough to close down the country
[647]
you know what this market would look
[648]
like which is why it's very difficult to
[651]
leave it bottom line
[653]
i am so glad april's over
[661]
michael in arizona michael
[664]
jimmy how are you doing i don't know i
[666]
don't know this was a bad month
[668]
uh try brutal
[671]
that's right final quarter yeah i even
[673]
ate a lot of peanuts they look fat
[674]
what's up
[676]
i'll try to be as concise as possible i
[678]
wanted your feedback um the stock has
[680]
beaten estimates 10 straight quarters
[683]
has impressive free cash flow
[685]
actually makes money pe of 45 forward p
[688]
e low 20s
[690]
just enter japan brazil australia now
[693]
access to additional half billion people
[696]
i think they're over focused with the
[697]
monthly average users which i think is
[700]
stabilized and is actually going to go
[701]
up in the next
[703]
um
[704]
12 months moving forward what's your
[706]
take long term
[708]
on pinterest i think that paypal should
[711]
buy pinterest
[712]
i say that because when paypal walked
[714]
away from pinterest stockton dropped 200
[716]
points i think a merger with paypal and
[718]
pinterest makes a ton of sense here they
[719]
got to start merging you can't just have
[721]
all these companies out there it's just
[723]
too much like 2000 april 14 and 2000.
[726]
bob in massachusetts bob
[730]
jim bob i'm honored to talk to the best
[733]
in the business yeah if i were the best
[735]
i would have told everyone to sell
[736]
everything but you know what i
[737]
appreciate the comments what's up but
[739]
jim you are definitely the goat of wall
[742]
street really
[744]
thank you man
[746]
thank you
[747]
i
[749]
you're welcome it's my pleasure
[751]
i
[753]
prefer and have invested in two
[756]
best of breed defense stocks over the
[759]
last several years
[760]
and i'm up 26
[762]
on each that's nice
[765]
i would like to know if you
[767]
like either one or prefer one or the
[771]
other and they are lockheed martin
[774]
and northrop grumman okay now i i like
[777]
your style i like how much you've made i
[780]
know takelets so i you know what i do is
[781]
i gravitate toward the guy who i like uh
[784]
jim takelin who runs lockheed martin
[786]
who's air force pilot he's sensational i
[788]
i think lmt is a great great company
[791]
will you look at this
[794]
i'm supposed to have fun tonight
[798]
i'm so great this miserable month
[799]
april's over i think next week should be
[801]
a little bit better i think i think next
[803]
the next few minutes will be better
[805]
moment because the month's over
[807]
well man tonight warehouser had its
[809]
strongest first quarter on record so can
[810]
the timber company continue to build
[812]
profits i'm checking with the ceo of a
[814]
very well-run company and elliott
[817]
management has its site set on suncor so
[819]
could the activist firm's plans be what
[821]
the soil company needs for sustained
[823]
growth stock hadn't done anything i'm
[825]
going to take the action and with cases
[827]
rising is it time for the u.s to adjust
[829]
its coven
[831]
strategy
[832]
a little strategy i'm talking to an
[835]
