So one of the most searched or most preferred field by students in India is Biotechnology and Microbiology

So from these two subjects, in which subject you want to do your career

I got so many questions about this like which subject is good if we compare both the subjects?

Here i am going to tell you what is difference between Biotechnology and Microbiology

Actually, both the subjects are interelated

but many terminologies are different in both subjects

Today we will discuss all details about different aspects and job opportunities related to Biotechnolgy and Microbiology

First we will discuss about Biotechnology.

Biotechnology field deals with manipulation of living organism at molecular level through DNA recombinant technology

That means many products can be manufactured by using genetic engineering

But Microbiology is diifferent. Microbiology is a field of science which deals with study of various microbes

whether it is procaryotic, virus, fungi, bacteria and their application in pharma, food technology and agriculture

Both these subjects are similar to each other

For example, all of you are aware of Fermentation process

In fermentation process, more number of microbes grow & create a useful product

Biotechnology comes in an application of Microbiology

But, growth of microbes will be covered in Microbiology

There is fermentation of Sugar & Fruit mesh that makes convert of Alchohol

Alchohol is created by this process but both Microbiology & Biotechnology works together

So this is one of the growing industries which helps each other whenever required

Biotechnology means , Heal the world

That means, here diagnosis of many food items & dietary supplements is carried out

Products are created through various processes

There are different branches of Biotechnology

like Animal Biotechnology, Nano Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology & Microbial Biotechnology

That means there are many branches of Biotechnology where you can do your career

As far as Microbiology is concerned, it is related to study of various microbes, virus, fungi, bacteria, prokaryotics

Here, Genomics, Biochemistry etc. , these subjects will be in syllabus

which are related to microbial contamination, microbial growth, how its culture gets developed

These all details can be learned in Microbiology

There are different branches of Microbiology like Microbial Patho physiology,

Microbial biotechnology & industrial microbiology

These are various departments of microbiology where you can do your career

Now we will discuss about an application of Microbiology

Biotechnology will create products like Biofuel or biohydrogen

On the other hand , which products can be created by microbiology?

Application of microbiology can be used in development of vaccine, preparation of anti-biotics, dairy products, food supplement

and in case of some chronic human diseases like Cancer, Alzheimer, or parkinsonism, microbiologists are required to study development of microbes

Now, we will see, how Biotechnology & Microbiology are interrelated?

Biotechnology is partially depends on microbial biotechnology

We can say that Biotechnology 50% depends on Microbiology but as far as Microbiology is concerned

Specially Applied Microbiology is 100% dependent on Biotechnology

Hence these (Biotechnology & Microbiology) are interrelated courses

Now we will discuss about courses in Biotechnology

B.Sc., M.Sc., or PhD, same courses are there in Microbiology

but there is one new course invented which is MBA in Biotechnology

I will make a video soon on this topic as well

so there are multiple courses, you can choose any one of them depending on your preferrable subject. Whether you want to do graduation or post graduation is totally depends on you

Now we will discuss about jobs

If you want to do career in Biotechnology then you can work in Bioinstrumentation, Bio informatics, Marine Biotechnology, Marine science, forensic science

Or else you can also work in laboratory research

Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of government does funding to different research and development activities

You can also become an enterprenuer in biotechnology as tehre are different firms in Biotechnology

You can start your own start up firm. You can get a good chance here

There are other career option like, you can work as a teacher/ professor in institute

You can also work in intellectual property rights that means who works in copyright, trademark of products

or else you can also work in various government sectors

This is all about Biotechnology

Now we will discuss about what are different career opportunities in Microbiology?

If you want to do career in Microbiology then you can work as Microbiologists, Food scientists, Clinical research associate

You can also work as teacher/professor/lecturer in various institutes

You can also do government job, you can work in various laboratories

You can work as Immunologist, Micologists or Parasitologists,

You can also work in Pharmaceutical industry

You can work in Food Supplement industry as a food scientist and you can also work in dairy industry

These are various job opportunities in Microbiology & Biotechnology in different segments
