Here's how to use Venmo,
[1]
the popular app that lets you
[2]
send and receive money digitally.
[5]
Venmo is available
[7]
for both iOS and Android.
[9]
Today, we will be showing
Venmo on an Android phone.
[16]
Once you download the app
[18]
and follow the prompts
for creating an account,
[20]
you can add a bank account,
credit card, or debit card
[24]
for handling transactions.
[26]
Go to the hamburger menu at the top
[28]
and press "Settings,"
[30]
then press "Payment Methods."
[33]
To add a bank account,
credit card, or debit card,
[36]
press "Add bank or card."
[39]
Sending money from a bank
account or debit card
[42]
is free on Venmo,
[43]
but it will charge a 3% fee
[45]
for sending money with a credit card.
[51]
If adding a bank account,
[53]
you will have two
options for verification.
[56]
Using instant verification
[57]
will have you sign into your bank account
[59]
to instantly verify.
[61]
You also have the option to
do a manual verification,
[65]
which involves inputting your bank's
[66]
routing and account number.
[68]
This option can take a few days.
[71]
Once your account is verified,
[73]
you are ready to send
[74]
or request money from someone.
[80]
Press the "Pay or Request" button
[82]
if you would like to send money to someone
[84]
or if you would like to
request money from someone.
[87]
Here you will find your list of friends.
[89]
If you signed up using
your Facebook account
[91]
or gave Venmo access
to your phone contacts,
[94]
you may see friends
pulled from these sources.
[97]
You can search for someone to pay
[99]
or request money from at the top.
[101]
Venmo offers several ways to search.
[103]
You can search people by their name,
[105]
their Venmo username,
[107]
their phone number,
[108]
or their email address.
[110]
Each Venmo account also includes
[111]
a unique QR code
[113]
that can be scanned to make sure
[114]
you are paying the right person.
[117]
You can find your username and QR code
[119]
by clicking on your profile picture
[121]
in the top left on the home screen.
[127]
Once you confirm you
have the right person,
[129]
press on their name.
[130]
Here's where you can set your payment
[132]
or request for payment.
[134]
Put in the amount here.
[136]
Underneath, you can add
a payment description.
[139]
You can also add fun things
[140]
like emojis and gifs to your payments.
[143]
Press through the different
icons at the bottom
[145]
to see what is available.
[147]
To the right,
[148]
you will see your privacy setting.
[149]
Pressing that will reveal a menu
[151]
that allows you to choose who that payment
[153]
or request will be visible to.
[157]
You can also change which
one of these settings
[159]
is your default
[159]
by going to the hamburger
menu on the homepage
[162]
and pressing on "Privacy."
[165]
There, you will find your
default privacy settings.
[169]
OK, back to our payment.
[170]
Choose "Pay" if you are
sending money to that person
[173]
or "Request" if you are
requesting money from that person.
[176]
For this example,
[178]
we're going to choose "Pay."
[179]
Here, you can see your Venmo balance,
[181]
which will accumulate as people pay you.
[183]
Venmo will always use
your Venmo balance first
[186]
as a payment option.
[188]
And if that balance does
not cover the transaction,
[190]
it will use your bank account
[192]
or card that you added.
[193]
To send your payment, press "Send."
[196]
If you were going to request money,
[198]
the process is very similar.
[200]
You would just choose
"Request" instead of "Pay."
[207]
If you'd like to transfer money
[208]
from your Venmo account
to your bank account,
[210]
go to the hamburger menu.
[212]
Next to your balance,
[213]
you will see "Manage balance."
[215]
Press it.
[217]
You will see options "Transfer
to Bank" and "Add Money."
[221]
"Add Money" will allow
you to transfer money
[223]
into your Venmo account
from a bank account,
[225]
but we want to move money
[226]
from Venmo to our bank account.
[228]
So we're going to choose
"Transfer to Bank."
[231]
Venmo gives two options,
[233]
an instant transfer that charges a fee
[235]
and a free option,
[236]
which can take a few days.
[238]
To transfer instantly,
[239]
Venmo will charge a 1% fee up to $10.
[243]
Choose an amount you
would like to transfer
[245]
and press the "Transfer"
button when you are ready.
