NIO STOCK HUGE NEWS! +XPENG LOCK-UP ALERT + APPLE CAR - YouTube

felix here and we're gonna do a quick  round up guys of the day's news on nio  

and then we're gonna hit expand we're  gonna hit the new baidu gili 10 cent  

foxconn joint venture and a couple of other  major pieces of news so let's get cracking

something here i want to show you this picture  and you're thinking like what what's going on here  

well that chap there in the middle and let me  see if i can uh get a pen here we go that here is  

william lee the ceo and co-founder of nio what is  he doing why is he staring at a floor underneath a  

car well that's what i'm going to explain to you  so basically nio half just installed their first  

second generation battery swapping um they  are planning something like 500 of these  

during this year and we were talking earlier  about that possible partnership with cyberpak  

and that might actually resolve the problem  with finding land permits electricity or all  

these things to roll them out so um the these  power swap stations are quite exciting because  

their capacity is basically 13 times bigger of  the generation one battery swapping station so  

these can basically replace something like 312  batteries per day 24 7 fully automated with  

no people and it the car drives itself into the  station uh or on its own basically you sort of  

tap a button and it does it and the moment you  have to get out of your car engineer gets into  

your car drives it in and the two guys standing  inside they help with the battery swapping and  

they do it all and it obviously takes longer it's  more tedious it's more expensive because you gotta  

employ people 24 7 basically if you want these  to operate or um you know around the clock so  

this is quite an exciting new uh development  really for nio that these are not just launched  

but that these are out let me show you another  picture of them uh this is apparently the the the  

new station here fully fully automated there  isn't even really room for people in there  

that's the way it looks to me so i think that's a  that's a big boost for nio because this technology  

that they did announce does now actually exist  it's being installed and you see here near ceo  

and i think the president was also there um  the nearest president not the countries um  

actually that you're gonna have one actually  functioning and then they can roll those out and  

um that my my guess is that we are going to get  an announcement from that cynopic deal pretty soon

x-pang's lock-up period expires on the 23rd  of february that's very very soon what does  

that mean well after an ipo certain people who  held shares are prevented from selling them  

that's typically the founders senior management  and sometimes also the private equity backers  

sort of long-term investors they basically  can't sell their shares even though they're  

old listed shares they prevent if i'm  trading them that ends on the 23rd of  

february and that typically uh leads to a  fall in share prices if you sort of look at a  

lot of um stocks that's typically what happens we  saw with talent here most dramatically last week  

um it was combined also with earnings so some were  disappointed some people i can't quite tell why  

but it did and um that is i think quite quite a  big item really here and and why does that matter  

also for nio well when one of the ev stocks gets  dragged down then everybody's wondering why and  

everyone's you know everyone's a little bit on  the edge at the moment i think that's a that's  

a fair thing to say so let's have a quick look  at uh the actual uh institutional owners here  

and the long-term owners here's morningsides china  tmt fund and then you have here basically a senior  

management founders in here with quite substantial  shareholdings now who's been buying um these  

last couple of days well you can see some pretty  sizable um shares having been acquired on the 19th  

uh matthews asia million shares the fidelity a  million and a half shares matthews asia some more  

800 000 shares a pretty substantial buy in there  jp morgan chase uh 2.8 million shares here so  

quite a lot of buy-in in the last couple of days  we saw but we also have some sell-offs there are  

sellers yes shame on them but you can see some  are paring down their holdings a little bit so  

jp morgan has actually reduced their ownership by  about eight hundred thousand nine hundred thousand  

maybe shares here but still a pretty major uh uh  ownership here sauros capital is out of it and a  

couple of other big ones here but this is on the  16th so on the 19th there wasn't quite as much  

just here matthews asia again uh selling off a  couple of hundred thousand shares there and uh  

and jp morgan really wanted bigger ones pairing  off though the value of those shares is probably  

still bigger than than the original value of their  previous holding because these stocks have rallied  

and um here you can just see institutional fund  ownership again um and we can see an overview here  

of the of the mostly buy-ins and i think that's  quite a quite a good indicator here if big people  

like fidelity buying in um despite knowing that  this lock up period is about to expire so that  

could perhaps be something that will support uh  the stock throughout the sort of day or two after  

lock-up periods you do quite often see a bit of  a sell-off and a lot of people see it as a buying  

opportunity i mean look at you know um arc invest  the other day on volunteer they kept buying us the  

stock it was was tanking and a lot of people just  think long term hey this is the time to do it  

um a lot of some institutions are some long-term  shareholders might want to sell off and therefore  

it does create quite a good opportunity here now  one other little thing i wanted to share with you  

um that is so where did it go here we go i put  it on um on our patreon community over here um  

i just posted that earlier um gillies confirms new  ev company basically the baidu tencent foxconn jv  

geely is confirmed that's a big deal guys foxconn  of course are the people who make all the um apple  

equipment basically uh tencent i think you  might know about baidu is the google of china  

and gili is a large car manufacturer that also  owns uh volvo and um therefore pole star and and  

10 of mercedes-benz and you know these are pretty  big guys and in my view um if i had to bet on  

somebody building the apple car i think it's  this is this company here ghibi and that joint  

venture might just do it because there's foxconn  in there you apple knows very very well uh voxcom  

basically lives off apple and and then also you  have buy in here from other technology companies  

baidu has all that autonomous driving technology  and software mapping software all that stuff  

they're really one of the leaders in the  industry there and gili know how to build  

cars and they know how to build ev cars uh they  also build the pole star car which is i think a  

really really nice um high-end ev a little bit  like like nio is so i think that's quite a big
