Kazakhstan here we are going to see

security measures in place to protect a

microloan location that are utterly

useless and we're going to learn

important lessons about considering

whether our security measures are

actually useful whether we have a

back-up plan and when to fight and when

to comply

so this gal sitting behind the desk here

at a payday loan store and this guy

comes in and tries the door and she's

arguing with him I've sped it up a

little bit for the sake of time that

he's like hey let me in it's just no and

so he decides to just bash his way
[41]
through the glass with his fist and

after three punches he comes right on
[46]
through now she's gonna try to get out
[47]
of there but he's not gonna let her out
[50]
obviously and he drags her back by her
[52]
shirt and gets under the desk here and
[55]
takes all the money out of the desk now

we would wish that he's done here but
[59]
he's not he's gonna get a knife out and
[61]
she's gonna try to kind of you know keep
[64]
him away a little bit but he's not
[66]
having it I think it's kind of funny

here that she goes back and locks the
[69]
door while she's still talking to this

guy who again now he says oh okay I'm
[73]
gonna put this big old steak knife away
[75]
that I just threatened you with and
[76]
tried to slice you with and now he's
[78]
gonna tell her to sit down now what is

she gonna do at this point I just asked

yourself this question she puts her
[83]
hands up hey man I'm not a problem

now he's gonna talk with her about
[86]
sitting there and whatever and and she's
[89]
at his mercy and when he pulls that
[90]
knife again there's literally nothing
[92]
that she's gonna do nowhere for her to

go and nothing for her to do if he
[97]
decided that he wanted a killer but
[98]
thankfully this is where this one ends

let's go back and learn some lessons

there are some significant ones here and

the first thing is to have a way out I
[106]
think it's incredibly important that she
[107]
is stuck in this little box with no way
[110]
out and no back door whatsoever so

knowing that you are stuck in this box

you want to make sure that you have some

tools with you now I get that you know
[118]
every country is different and every
[120]
rule is different but man I wouldn't sit

there in that kind of environment

without some kind of a plan to protect

myself

and when he decides to go I think our

next lesson comes out of that that he

just busts on in there and this is

security theater have you thought about

yours

purity at this point and said wait a

minute does this really keep me secure

or is this just security theater in her

case clearly this was security theater

and now she's got to try to go out the

door that she's trying to use this

little lock and whatever that she was

trying to use to keep him out now he's

got a hold of her at this point and so

man when I teach self-defense all the

time you gotta know when when to defend

yourself and when to comply and without

the attitude and the skills and the plan

compliance was definitely her best bet

here because when she decided to kind of

pull at him and go that half-hearted

attempt that's when he got that knife

out and slashed at her and he could have

taken that as a personal affront and

stabbed her multiple times and killed

her here

so again if you're not gonna resist

fully comply fully because the

alternative to that is being stabbed

with the knife now in just interestingly

here she decides to go ahead and try to

lock this door again to reestablish some

sense of emotional security for herself

although he's able to just climb right

back over the window so it doesn't

really help her at all and again she is

at his mercy this is why I tell people

all the time when you are physically not

strong when you are not able to fight

significantly that's when tool use

becomes important now I don't know what

the firearms laws are for this

particular nation but for those of us

who live where we can't have firearms
[207]
this is why we certainly want to and you

do not want to threaten the ego of a an

attacker because it's exactly what

happens here he pulls that knife out

again so start some lessons here about

security theater about having the

ability to fight about going

wholeheartedly rather than pulling at

things and about getting a plan in place

as part of our attitude skills and plan
