Hello and welcome to KnowledgeHut.
[3]
As you may be already aware, there are four stages of the Project Life Cycle
[6]
namely Initiation
[9]
Planning Execution
[11]
Closure And In this video, we will discuss these stages
[14]
in detail, including what these stages are and what are the steps taken during these
[19]
stages.
[20]
Let us begin with Initiation.
[23]
Business need, problem, or opportunity is identified in this stage.
[27]
Ways to meet this end, solve this problem or seize this opportunity are brainstormed.
[32]
The objective of the project is figured out, feasibility is determined and major deliverables
[37]
are identified.
[39]
Project Management steps for the initiation stage includes
[42]
Identification of the problem which your project will solve and making it certain whether your
[46]
project will be able to deliver a solution to that problem.
[50]
Identification of the scope by defining the depth and breadth of the project
[55]
Identification of deliverables by defining the product or service to provide.
[60]
Identification of the project stakeholders by figuring out whom the project affects and
[64]
what their needs may be.
[66]
And Development of a business case
[68]
You鈥檒l also develop a statement of work or project initiation document at the initiation
[74]
stage.
[75]
The Statement of Work is the document that captures and defines all aspects of your project.
[80]
You鈥檒l note the activities, deliverables and the timetable for the project.
[85]
It鈥檚 an extremely detailed document as it will lay the groundwork for the project plan.
[91]
Next comes the planning Stage.
[93]
The planning stage comes when the project is approved to move forward on the basis of
[97]
the statement of work and the business case.
[99]
In the planning stage, teams are built, the large project is broken down into smaller
[105]
tasks and a schedule is prepared for the completion of all the assignments.
[109]
Smaller goals are created within the larger project so that each goal is achievable within
[114]
the time frame.
[117]
Project Management steps for the planning stage includes
[120]
Identification of the project timeline, the tasks which are to be performed and the possible
[125]
constraints.
[127]
Creation of workflow documents to visualize the project timeline.
[130]
Estimation of budgets and the creation of financial plans with the help of cost estimates.
[136]
Gathering resources by building teams and making sure that everyone has the tools required
[141]
to perform their tasks.
[143]
Risk anticipation by identifying potential quality roadblock.
[147]
It is important to have everything outlined and explained to the team and so that the
[152]
team members can quickly get to the work in the next stage.
[157]
After planning, we reach to the execution stage.
[160]
In the above two stages, we worked on receiving business approval, developing a plan and building
[165]
our team.
[166]
Now its time to start working.
[169]
In this phase, we will turn our plan into action.
[172]
The project manager makes sure that the work is on track, he/she organizes team members, manages
[177]
timelines and makes sure that the work is done according to the original plan.
[182]
Project Management steps for the execution stage includes
[185]
Creating tasks and organizing workflows by assigning granular aspects of the projects
[191]
to the right team members.
[193]
Explaining tasks to team members, providing necessary guidance on how the tasks should
[197]
be completed, and organizing process-related training if necessary.
[202]
Communicating with team members, clients, and upper management and providing updates
[206]
to the stakeholders at all the levels.
[209]
Monitoring quality of work And Managing budget
[213]
And finally, we reach the closure stage.
[216]
This is the stage where we provide final deliverables, release project resources and determine the
[222]
success of the project.
[223]
In this stage, the project manager also evaluates what did and what did not work with the project.
[230]
Project Management steps for the closure stage includes
[233]
Determining whether the goals of the project were met and whether the initial problem was
[237]
solved.
[239]
Evaluation of the team鈥檚 performance including whether they were able to meet the goals along
[243]
with maintaining the timeliness and quality of the work.
[247]
Making sure that all aspects of the project are completed with no loose ends remaining
[251]
and providing reports to key stakeholders.
[255]
Conducting a final analysis of the project, taking into account lessons learned for similar
[260]
projects in the future.
[262]
So these were the four stages in the Project Lifecycle and the different steps taken at
[266]
each stage.
