Channel: Digital Agent Show

[0]
in this video i'm going to give you a guide聽 to selecting a real estate school in a real聽聽
[5]
estate class now the first thing that you need to聽 consider is whether or not you're going to take聽聽
[11]
a classroom or online course before we even get聽 to that we're going to talk about the purpose of聽聽
[17]
the class so you see the purpose of a real estate聽 class is not necessarily to teach you how to sell聽聽
[24]
real estate the purpose is to prepare you for聽 the final exam of the course and the independent聽聽
[31]
national and state exam it's giving you the聽 principles of real estate so that you understand聽聽
[38]
the terminology the definitions the structure of聽 real estate brokerage fair housing those types of聽聽
[47]
things the final test is delivered on a computer聽 in a multiple choice format there are no essay聽聽
[55]
questions so this is something that you want to聽 be prepared for as you're going through the course聽聽
[61]
and the instructor or class participation is聽 not going to have a bearing on your final score聽聽
[68]
the instructor might a little bit by the聽 way in which they answer the questions聽聽
[72]
but there's not going to be a separate grading聽 on whether or not you participate in class聽聽
[77]
or whether or not you answer questions for the聽 instructor now my experience has shown that聽聽
[83]
there's really no significant difference in the聽 pass rate for state and national exams based upon聽聽
[90]
the course format the online version does allow聽 prospective agents to get up and running sooner聽聽
[97]
rather than having to wait for a classroom setting聽 and then having to add the study time on top of it聽聽
[103]
when you're taking the classroom let's just聽 look at this if you're taking a classroom聽聽
[108]
and your state requires a hundred and sixty聽 hour course that's four weeks of class time聽聽
[115]
four weeks at 40 hours not to mention the聽 time that you have to take reading and then聽聽
[120]
studying in an online course there's a counter聽 that occurs on your screen it will track the time聽聽
[128]
and you'll get credit for reading time and then聽 you'll have sample test questions at the end聽聽
[133]
of each section and this prepares you for the聽 final exam by taking those test questions once聽聽
[140]
you pass the test questions you're allowed to聽 move on to the next module kind of like you're聽聽
[145]
completed a level in uh super mario so what are聽 the pluses and minuses of say the online format聽聽
[152]
well some of the pluses are the flexibility聽 and study time anytime that you can log on to聽聽
[157]
the internet you can be studying it's usually聽 less expensive investment of a course than the聽聽
[163]
classroom or a self-study book study format less聽 expensive than the classroom because you're not聽聽
[169]
having to pay for the instructor to be there for聽 the course you're also not paying for the location聽聽
[175]
that's going on the lights being on those types聽 of things if you have a high comprehension聽聽
[181]
retention level when you read you could be聽 done with the course in a matter of days聽聽
[187]
as long as you pass the final exam and you've聽 satisfied the hours that have gone through聽聽
[193]
also the practice exams are computerized format聽 this is exactly the way the state and national聽聽
[199]
exam is going to be delivered so you're already聽 used to reading the test questions on your聽聽
[204]
computer and making that decision between a b c聽 and d now a minus because there's no set schedule聽聽
[212]
i've seen students before sign up for the online聽 course but they have difficulty focusing time聽聽
[218]
blocking to be able to finish the course and聽 remember no matter the course format each one聽聽
[224]
is going to require a final exam now let's take聽 a look at the classroom format in the classroom聽聽
[230]
format this is usually taught by an experienced聽 instructor that's able to answer any questions聽聽
[236]
that you have and you're the one that's going聽 to have to make the determination as to you聽聽
[241]
have questions and you need somebody to kind of聽 hold your hand and walk you through that process聽聽
[247]
also that classroom allows that interaction with聽 fellow students as you're going through the course聽聽
[254]
the instructor may be able to provide some tips聽 on passing the ultimate state and national exam聽聽
[260]
they'll provide you with some gotchas that you'd聽 be able to take note of now one of the minuses聽聽
[266]
or a couple of the minuses of the classroom聽 format is time the course is usually taught聽聽
[272]
in a chapter format that is spread over multiple聽 days or even multiple weeks this causes a lack of聽聽
[279]
flexibility in scheduling the classes are at a聽 set time attendance is mandatory and i've even聽聽
[285]
seen some classroom courses where if you miss聽 a session you have to wait until the next time聽聽
[291]
that that school delivers the class in order for聽 you to be able to take this over and you have to聽聽
[297]
make sure that you've satisfied that particular聽 a chapter before you're allowed to take the test聽聽
[304]
also those fellow students that you're interacting聽 with they may not be committed to succeeding as聽聽
[309]
you are or they may not be as intelligent as聽 you are frankly they're going to ask questions聽聽
[317]
and those questions could slow down the class聽 could cause you to be distracted because the聽聽
[324]
classroom is going to be brought to the lowest聽 level of the students that are involved with it聽聽
[330]
so bottom line selecting a course this is an聽 area that will require you to make a decision聽聽
[335]
based upon your commitment your study habits聽 your past course experience do you need someone聽聽
[343]
to hold your hand in a classroom setting or a聽 safety net of an instructor that you can turn to聽聽
[349]
or are you disciplined enough to block off your聽 time and take the course and study on a schedule聽聽
[355]
via an online environment only you can answer聽 this question i for myself would only take the聽聽
[364]
online course for the reasons that i brought up聽 i'm going to time block even if i have a current聽聽
[372]
nine to five job i'm gonna block off that when i聽 get done with nine to five i'm gonna make my get聽聽
[378]
home i'm going to finish dinner i'm going to block聽 off a period of time and i'm going to take the聽聽
[384]
online course i'm going to have it dedicated that聽 i'm going to log into my computer do my reading聽聽
[390]
go through my test questions and be able to study聽 in that format second reason why i would do online聽聽
[398]
is i don't want to be brought down by the聽 questions of the other folks that are in there聽聽
[403]
i when i first got into real estate did聽 take a classroom course i should say聽聽
[409]
and when i took the classroom course there聽 was a couple individuals that kept asking聽聽
[414]
why why why when i really don't need to know the聽 why a particular rule or law was put into place聽聽
[422]
i need to know what the law is and how to be able聽 to memorize it and answer it back on the question聽聽
[430]
so that's something that we would want to聽 take a look at so the online course allows聽聽
[436]
me to also get this done sooner so that i can get聽 licensed and start selling a little bit sooner now聽聽
[444]
we do have a 25 20 off code and i'm going to go聽 through a couple of the online packages so that聽聽
[453]
we can help you select so let's take a look at聽 the ce shop under the florida example in florida聽聽
[459]
you have to take a 63-hour course well with the ce聽 shop they provide the 63-hour course and exam prep聽聽
[468]
underneath the standard package they have a level聽 up that's called the value package and the value聽聽
[474]
package includes a business building course聽 now i myself do not want to get distracted聽聽
[481]
with the business building course because i聽 have to get the 63 hours done i have to pass聽聽
[487]
the test before i start building my business聽 so i i kind of like to say that i have to eat聽聽
[494]
my dinner first before i get my dessert and the聽 value package could potentially be a distraction聽聽
[501]
the premium package will give you everything聽 that's needed the 63 hours what's needed聽聽
[508]
it might also be the worth the investment because聽 it provides the post licensing course it does have聽聽
[514]
that business building bundle in it but when you聽 have the investment when you're able to make this聽聽
[520]
it might be worthwhile to go with the premium聽 so that you go ahead and knock it out right now聽聽
[525]
and then you'll have that next course that you聽 can take within your first year of being licensed聽聽
[531]
the 45 hour post licensing course now compare this聽 to the packages that are with real estate express聽聽
[538]
real estate express offers the basics聽 which is just the course and three e-books聽聽
[544]
their next step up is the exam preparation and i聽 would suggest that this is the package that you聽聽
[551]
start to consider because it has the minimums of聽 the course it also has an exam prep module let聽聽
[558]
me talk about this exam prep module for a little聽 bit the exam prep module is going to provide you聽聽
[564]
with these multiple choice sample test questions聽 these sample test questions are what can allow聽聽
[570]
you to take the test over and over and over again聽 what i like to say is after you've read through聽聽
[576]
the materials you start to take the sample test聽 questions when you take those test questions when聽聽
[582]
you're at home under a time situation when you're聽 passing at about a 90 95 percent rate when you go聽聽
[590]
to take the actual exam even if you get nervous聽 even if you forget a couple things even if you聽聽
[597]
have a little bit of a brain fade you'll still聽 be able to pass above the state requirement聽聽
[605]
because you'll be able to forget some information聽 but you'll still be able to fill in the details聽聽
[610]
so you want to make sure that you get at least聽 the exam prep module real estate express has聽聽
[616]
that in their top three packages the exam prep is聽 included in all of the ce shop packages the exam聽聽
[624]
prep plus is going to have the post licensing聽 and the ability to have an online chat with q聽聽
[630]
a with an instructor and then the ultimate聽 learning if you need to have printed textbooks聽聽
[637]
then that would be an option for you to select聽 that package you're going to need to read along聽聽
[642]
if you can but remember you're not going to get聽 credit online for the time that you spend reading聽聽
[649]
offline in the textbooks now if you're picking a聽 classroom course you need to find out the schedule聽聽
[658]
you need to find out is the what is the attendance聽 policy if you miss a class how do you make it up聽聽
[664]
do you have to start completely over and then聽 the last thing that you want to make sure of is聽聽
[669]
do they have an exam preparation module something聽 that you can log in on your own pace and be able聽聽
[676]
to take these sample test questions because聽 remember the purpose of the course is not to聽聽
[682]
teach you how to sell real estate the purpose聽 of the course is for you to get through the聽聽
[687]
state requirements memorize the information the聽 principles and practices that you do to prepare聽聽
[693]
you for the class final and then the independent聽 state slash national exam so i hope this is giving聽聽
[700]
you a guide i myself if available in my state聽 would select online courses that's from personal聽聽
[707]
experience that's because of my study habits聽 because of my focus my dedication but again both聽聽
[714]
of them are fully accredited by the state fully聽 approved whether it's online or classroom if it's聽聽
[720]
classroom you're going to have to reach out to聽 the schools find out their specific policies聽聽
[725]
their specific schedule their cost make sure that聽 you do a comparison between the two i hope this聽聽
[731]
guide has been very beneficial to you i also have聽 a video that talks about not just getting your聽聽
[740]
license but the entire process from your first聽 considering getting into real estate all the way聽聽
[747]
through to selecting a broker getting trained聽 and getting up and running and i walk through聽聽
[752]
that step by step by step in a webinar that i've聽 delivered so until next time make it a great day
[779]
