Channel: TaxGuide101
[1]
hi everyone this is aki with a quick
[2]
video on taxes and the different options
[5]
that are available to taxpayers
[7]
to file for tax year 2021
[11]
so when you consider filing your taxes
[14]
you have to ask yourself do you want to
[16]
file it yourself
[18]
or do you want to help from a tax pro
[21]
and you know there's some things that
[23]
you have to consider with you know your
[25]
budget um how much money you can spend
[28]
on tax preparation how much time do you
[30]
have whether you feel comfortable doing
[33]
it yourself or do you do you feel
[35]
comfortable using technology and so on
[39]
if you do want to file it yourself you
[42]
also have two different options the
[44]
first one is free and the other one is
[46]
paid
[47]
the irs free file program right now for
[50]
texture 2021 they have eight different
[54]
companies that are in the program so
[56]
basically they produce a software for
[59]
taxpayers that are free of charge you do
[61]
have to qualify so your income can't be
[64]
more than 73 000 for example for tax
[67]
year 2021 and there's some other
[69]
qualification criteria which i will go
[71]
over in another video
[74]
if you do want to use a brand software
[76]
that's a paid version although many do
[78]
have a version that's free but usually
[82]
it's not as generous and some of the
[85]
programs
[86]
under iris free file but there is an
[88]
option for you if you want to file it
[90]
yourself and if you're comfortable using
[93]
the software
[95]
um if you do want to help from a tax pro
[98]
you know there's also a free version as
[100]
well as a paid one that we usually think
[103]
about when we think about filing taxes
[105]
the free version is sponsored by irs
[108]
vita and tce on site programs vida
[112]
stands for volunteer income tax
[114]
assistance
[116]
um and tce i keep forgetting it's tax
[119]
counseling for the elderly and many of
[121]
the tce sites are
[123]
ran by aarp volunteers and this is
[127]
really great um many of the programs
[129]
actually have different different
[130]
qualification and scope so some things
[134]
will not be covered under them but
[136]
you know some actually have very
[137]
generous income level that you
[141]
can't you know go above before you
[144]
qualify some programs have you know less
[146]
than 73 000 some can have more than that
[150]
um but you know certain things won't be
[152]
covered like let's say if you have a
[153]
rental
[154]
property many many of these programs
[157]
don't cover that and so on but it's
[159]
really great let's say if you have a
[161]
pretty simple situation let's say if you
[163]
had a withholding for three years and
[165]
you haven't filed you can file for three
[168]
years at this site so they really a
[170]
great option for some taxpayers now
[172]
another option is obviously the paid tax
[174]
preparer one and there's many retail
[176]
locations for some of these giants that
[179]
are out there
[180]
um you know maybe you have a
[182]
relationship with a tax preparer for
[184]
over the years they know your situation
[186]
you feel comfortable maybe situation
[188]
more complex maybe have a business on
[190]
the side and so on
[192]
and
[193]
they also have also a lot of um hybrid
[196]
options nowadays so it's not the same as
[198]
10 years ago where you know you just had
[200]
to go and see someone you could drop it
[203]
off and pick it up when your situation
[205]
hasn't changed from year to year or
[207]
maybe you can prepare it yourself and
[209]
someone can oversee and double check
[212]
everything so look into that um so
[216]
there are other options like that
[218]
and so to summarize basically you
[221]
filing options are if you want to file
[224]
it yourself you have to decide if you
[225]
want to do it yourself or you want to do
[227]
with tax pro and each of these options
[229]
have the free version as well as the
[232]
paid version
[233]
so you have to decide for yourself um
[237]
basically
[238]
i have a message basically you have to
[240]
decide on for yourself
[243]
uh what's best for your family
[244]
considering some of these factors that
[246]
we talked about
[248]
so thanks for watching
