The difference between SFG and other companies聽 is you hear that you need to invest in the things聽聽
[11]
that matter but so many people's feet don't do聽 that and I see here that with words and actions,聽聽
[20]
we invest in things that matter and the聽 things that matter are relationships聽聽
[25]
with each other and relationships with聽 the families that we sit down with and聽聽
[31]
serve. You don't spend all your time聽 working on your job at the expense of-
[37]
Everything else.
[39]
Everything else. Yeah. You really spend your聽 time and your energy on the things that matter.聽聽
[61]
The other morning, it was Friday morning and I聽 was sitting in school with my son and we... He聽聽
[70]
was just kind of leaning on me, the teacher聽 was reading a book and I was looking around聽聽
[75]
and there were no other parents there. How lucky聽 am I to be with a company that really puts this,聽聽
[82]
puts us first and really makes this possible?聽 And it's definitely the work that I put in,聽聽
[87]
but it's also the company that helps facilitate聽 that work and make sure I get the most for that聽聽
[92]
work. Wealth is not just money. Wealth is time聽 and money. You make all the money in the world,聽聽
[97]
but if you don't have any time to spend聽 it doing the things that you enjoy with聽聽
[100]
the people that you care about, then what's聽 the point? What's really fun about SFG is聽聽
[107]
I actually get more energy. I have more energy聽 at the end of the day than the beginning of the聽聽
[111]
day because it's exciting and there's so many聽 great things happening and the people lift me聽聽
[117]
up and I've been doing this a long time and I'm聽 more excited than I've ever been in 26 years.
[127]
So many people lose that balance of personal life聽 to work life and it's so important when you've got聽聽
[134]
a family that you have the time and obviously the聽 money to do the things that you want to do but if聽聽
[140]
all you've got is one or the other, it doesn't聽 really work out usually. So you balance the聽聽
[145]
profit line out and that allows you to balance聽 your personal lives out more and that's what we聽聽
[150]
wanted for everyone that joined our company, was聽 not to be so, just caught up in trying to make the聽聽
[157]
business work, that they forgot to make their聽 life work. When I got started in the industry,聽聽
[166]
I was working with another company that didn't聽 have any lead program at all. My job was to go聽聽
[170]
out and see upwards of a hundred businesses聽 a week and just go door to door and I think聽聽
[175]
that's what the majority of the industry does. The聽 vast majority of the industry. With our company,聽聽
[179]
what we do is we own a direct mail lead house, a聽 mail house, and we mail out millions of letters.聽聽
[185]
We get about a 1% return, one in a quarter percent聽 return, but the people that are truly interested聽聽
[191]
fill that lead out from top to bottom, they give聽 us their home phone, cell phone, work phone, when聽聽
[195]
to call, where to call, the lead talks about our聽 product. We know the people that have filled our聽聽
[199]
forms out. When they were filling that form out,聽 they knew that they needed that coverage. That if聽聽
[204]
something were to happen to mom or dad, who would聽 put them in a really tough position to keep the聽聽
[209]
house or to pay those final expenses and so聽 our agents can have confidence knowing that聽聽
[214]
they're dealing with people that know they need聽 the product. Now we're not spending all of our聽聽
[218]
time prospecting. We're actually spending our time聽 talking with people who know what we sell and have聽聽
[224]
expressed an interest in it and that makes all聽 the difference in the world. That the security聽聽
[234]
that used to be associated with corporate jobs聽 just isn't there anymore. You see the layoffs,聽聽
[239]
I've seen it over and over and over again. And聽 you know, I've had people say to me, well you know聽聽
[243]
being on commission is scary because I'm worried聽 like what if I don't make a sale or something聽聽
[250]
like that. Really, if you work for another聽 company, you have no control over your paycheck.
[254]
A job is designed to pay you just enough to聽 keep you from quitting and you're going to work聽聽
[259]
just hard enough to keep them from firing you.聽 That's a bad system. Here, you can come here聽聽
[263]
no matter where you come from, no matter where聽 you come from. All that matters is where you're聽聽
[269]
trying to get. They will help you get where you're聽 trying to get. You want to make 500 bucks a month,聽聽
[272]
you can. You want to make 5000 a month,聽 you can. You want to make 20,000 a month,聽聽
[275]
you can. Symmetry Financial Group is... It's much聽 like a franchisable opportunity because it's got聽聽
[282]
all the marketing in place, all the carriers聽 in place, everything is in place for someone聽聽
[287]
that does want to grow their business or build an聽 organization to go out and have all the tools at聽聽
[291]
their disposal to recruit people in and hire them聽 and train them to run the model that we have and聽聽
[297]
ensure that they can be successful. Our buy-in聽 is that if you bring sweat equity to the table,聽聽
[302]
if you're willing to work and you have the聽 ambition and the dream of running a business聽聽
[308]
and owning a business, then we'll allow you聽 to participate in that part of the model.聽聽
[313]
And that's the value of the system, because if聽 you don't have a system, then you're trying to聽聽
[317]
create it all yourself. You're doing all your聽 training yourself. You're doing everything聽聽
[321]
yourself and so that's the value of Symmetry聽 Financial Group is we allow you to really run聽聽
[327]
and operate a business within our business. And聽 we throw you the keys, if that's what you want.
[338]
When I looked up at my managers, when I looked聽 up at the people who were higher up than me,聽聽
[343]
what I saw was more money, less time. You聽 know, they were on their fifth heart attack聽聽
[347]
and fourth marriage, and to me, that's just聽 not appealing. It's not an income that I want,聽聽
[355]
it's a lifestyle that I want. The聽 money is a byproduct of the lifestyle.
[360]
The wealthy families that I saw, they had聽 built legacies, they had built businesses聽聽
[365]
that provided for the family long term and the聽 family was then able to enjoy time together,聽聽
[371]
like go on vacations, go on trips, time聽 that you're never going to be a to get back.
[377]
People work 30, 40 years, and they're聽 proud of it, which is great and at the end,聽聽
[382]
what do they have to show for it? What type聽 of lifestyle are they living? You know, and聽聽
[388]
that's where I looked at it more from, again, the聽 business side. Do I want to be the guy across the聽聽
[393]
kitchen or the conference table, that's 67 years聽 old, that's been doing it for life and he has聽聽
[400]
no life and why wait until you're 67, 70 to take聽 the trip to the Mediterranean? Why not do it now?
[406]
When you actually can you know, earn a good living聽 and have the time to enjoy it, you know you can聽聽
[413]
be a lot more active. So I like being active. We聽 do a lot of mountain biking, do some surfing and聽聽
[421]
some snowboarding and my wife, Sarah, we recently聽 just bought a piece of land so we've gotten into聽聽
[426]
a little bit of the farming thing. You know, we聽 have two or three goats and cat and a dog so we聽聽
[432]
don't have kids yet, but we have some animals that聽 we like to take care of. So we enjoy doing that.
[438]
I have a family with three small kids. The聽 older kids love to be outside as well. You know,聽聽
[444]
they love to ride their bikes, they聽 just love being outside and personally,聽聽
[448]
I love to play music, done that for 20 years聽 so that's probably my biggest personal hobby.
[456]
I think, you know, because of the insurance聽 industry, because of Symmetry Financial Group,聽聽
[471]
we've been able to do that. We've been able聽 to go snowboarding and mountain biking and聽聽
[475]
we've played golf all over the world and聽 we're not very good at it, but we enjoy it.
[480]
In places that we never would've聽 had the opportunity to do that.
[484]
Right. Surfing in Hawaii. He聽 actually taught me how to surf.
[489]
In Hawaii.
[489]
In Hawaii.
[490]
It's pretty neat. We've been surfing in Fiji.
[492]
Mm-hmm (affirmative).
[493]
Which is, again, these insurance companies send聽 you all over the place. So when we go to these聽聽
[497]
destinations, we don't just like to sit the hotel.聽 We like to get out there and be active and a lot聽聽
[505]
of our agents and managers are in the same boat聽 you know. They're... They like to get out there聽聽
[509]
and get the adrenaline going a little bit, we聽 call it fear bonding, you know? Yeah. We'll go聽聽
[513]
out and scare each other a little bit in some of聽 these activities we do. Yep. So it's a good time.
[517]
Yeah. Fear bonding in Whistler, black home, coming聽聽
[520]
down mountain biking trails that聽 probably shouldn't have been on.
[523]
Yeah.
[524]
You know?
[525]
Yeah.
[525]
Helmets and shoulder pads and geared聽 up and somehow we still end up bloody.
[533]
We have big goals. We have big ambition. We're聽 shooting for the moon, you know? And again,聽聽
[540]
we're all kind of in sync doing like聽 you said, there's a very transparent,聽聽
[543]
it's an open culture. You got to聽 call somebody that's not in your聽聽
[547]
agency or you got to call up, down,聽 sideways. Somebody's there for you.
[550]
When I first started with SFG, I went outside聽 and took a picture of this place and I was like,聽聽
[558]
they're not going to be here for long you know?聽 And I like the intimacy of the company. It was聽聽
[567]
small. It was okay. I know, one day down the聽 road, the toddler's going to be an all star.
[573]
You know, if I were looking at our company for聽 the first time, one of the biggest questions聽聽
[577]
I would have is am I too late? And you聽 know, to that, I would say, we're just聽聽
[583]
now getting started. You know, we haven't done聽 anything yet and we've accomplished some great聽聽
[586]
things in this industry, but you know, if SFG聽 were a building, we've just laid the footer.
[593]
Yep. Ground floor. The only thing they've聽 missed at this point is the growing pains.
