decided to do is go out in the world and

find out if there's anything else that

we're good at with a little help from

going to be doing a number of these

field trips over the course of the year

on GMM and we are calling it the back-up

the first occupation we decided to try

was beekeeping first off that's a beat

you've probably already knew that and

that's bill a beekeeper

he literally keeps bees and that's Rob

he's basically a younger taller quieter

version of it so really nothing like

Bill at all except that he also keeps

bees they hold the knowledge of what

could be our future profession I hope

I want that truth but today I'm excited

that the world is a little bit reversed

do get stung oh you've been stopped only

one or two thousand times a year really

I'm a fan of any job that requires a

specialized suit it makes me feel

important I'm a fan of a suit that keeps

bees from stinging me period we look

professional we look like we're there to

clean up a spill how many bees are we

talking about probably thirty and fifty

thousand bees per hive fifty thousand

bees in one of these boxes that's right

so the first thing that we're gonna do

is light the smoker smoke does two

disrupts that our ability to communicate

the second thing that the smoke does is

it makes them eat honey they start

eating their own honey they do that's

their food so now we got the smoker gone

the next step is to smoke the entrance

of the hive so it's just like the best

smoking job you've ever seen a

brood nest which is where the queen is

now you're usually out here by yourself
