[62]

[96]
such as yourself please also make sure
[98]

[101]
liking the video that tells me you enjoy
[103]
the content and I will therefore create
[105]
more for you thank you very much let's
[108]
get into the training so the first
[110]
interview question that I would like you
[112]
to prepare for is introduce yourself and
[114]
tell me why you are suited to the role
[117]
of a risk analyst now don't make the
[119]
mistake of giving a short answer to this
[123]
first interview question make sure you
[126]
talk about the skills the qualities and
[128]
the experience you have that will enable
[132]
you to add Vow
[133]
due to their organization in this role
[135]
it is important that you focus
[137]
throughout your interview on how you're
[141]
going to add value to their organization
[143]
so here is a great sample answer to help
[146]
you all my training and professional
[150]
development has been geared towards
[152]
becoming a competent risk analyst I am a
[155]
determined resilient and analytical
[158]
person who understands the work I carry
[160]
out can have a significant impact on the
[163]
success of my team and the organization
[166]
I am working for I possess strong
[168]
numeracy and strategic thinking skills I
[171]
am a solid researcher and somebody who
[174]
will plan and organize their work
[176]
meticulously and I'm a strong
[178]
communicator both verbally and in
[180]
writing I'm suited to the role of a risk
[183]
analyst because the natural skills and
[185]
qualities I possess and the extensive
[188]
experience I've gained in a wide variety
[190]
of different situations make me a strong
[192]
candidate for this position I feel
[195]
confident that if you decide to hire me
[197]
within this risk analyst role you will
[199]
quickly see positive results from my
[201]
work and I assure you I will always add
[204]
value to the organization through strong
[206]
and consistent analytical work and
[209]
processes that is a very strong answer
[213]
to that first interview question
[214]
introduce yourself and tell me why you
[216]
are suited to the role of a risk analyst
[219]
now you can either pause the video if
[221]
you want to take a note of the questions
[223]
and the answers as I progress or if you
[225]
want to wait I will tell where you can
[227]
download my full set of risk analyst
[230]
interview questions and top scoring
[231]
answers including the ones we are
[233]
working through today in the next
[235]
question what are the most important
[237]
skills needed to become a risk analyst
[240]
and why now there are two parts to this
[243]
interview questions so you need to show
[245]
your understanding of the risk analyst
[247]
role and why each skill is important so
[251]
again here is a strong answer to assist
[253]
you there are seven very important
[256]
skills and qualities needed in risk
[258]
analysis in order to be effective you
[261]
must possess strong analytical and
[263]
patient skills these are needed because
[265]
in order to think
[267]
and meet the objectives of your employer
[269]
you must dive deep and take the time to
[272]
look at trends and data over a prolonged
[274]
period you need to be an exceptional
[277]
planner and organizer these skills are
[279]
imperative because if you fail to plan
[282]
and stay on top of your work you will
[284]
fall behind you will make mistakes and
[286]
you will provide incorrect reports and
[289]
assessments of risk which is
[290]
unacceptable you need to be a good
[293]
problem solver now this can only be
[295]
achieved by remaining calm taking a
[297]
holistic approach to problems and always
[299]
remembering the importance of thinking
[301]
strategically other skills and qualities
[304]
include being able to interpret data and
[307]
information and then presenting it in an
[309]
easy-to-understand manner to team
[311]
members and senior managers or directors
[313]
risk analysts must communicate clearly
[316]
concisely and effectively which will in
[318]
turn enable the organization to make
[320]
effective decisions finally you must be
[323]
a strong team worker and be financially
[325]
and commercially aware what I
[327]
particularly like about that response
[329]
you are focusing on a set number of
[332]
skills and qualities needed to be an
[333]
effective risk analyst and in this case
[336]
there are seven to include in your
[338]
answers that shows that you are highly
[340]
knowledgeable about the skills and
[342]
qualities needed within your work and
[345]
you are also showing that you need which
[348]
is very important to be financially and
[350]
commercially aware now don't go anywhere
[353]
because I still have many more questions
[354]
to work through with you and answers but
[357]
when you're ready if you want to click
[359]
that link in the top right hand corner
[360]
of the video you can go through to my
[362]
website pass my interview comm and
[364]
download my full set of 21 risk analyst
[367]
interview questions and brilliant
[369]
answers including the ones we are
[370]
working through together today now this
[373]
next question I want to cover is
[375]
guaranteed to come up during your
[376]
interview and that is why'd you want to
[378]
work for our company as a risk analyst
[380]
now this interview question as I say is
[383]
going to come up and it is designed to
[385]
assess whether you have carried out any
[388]
research into their organization and
[390]
also your motivations for working within
[393]
their team so here is another great
[395]
answer for you why do you want to work
[397]
for us or sometimes it's poses why'd you
[399]
want to work for our company
[400]
a risk analyst I've chosen your company
[403]
because as I see it you have a long
[405]
history of setting high standards and
[408]
for achieving sustainable significant
[410]
results there are many companies to
[412]
choose from within risk analysis but I
[415]
only want to work somewhere where I will
[417]
be supported in my role where I will be
[419]
constantly pushed and challenged and
[421]
where I will be able to grow and develop
[423]
professionally after researching your
[426]
organization extensively in the build-up
[428]
to this interview today I feel this is
[430]
somewhere I will be able to stay working
[432]
for a long period of time whilst working
[434]
alongside a dedicated team of people who
[437]
are all pushing in the same direction I
[439]
like that answer because you are not
[441]
just giving one reason why you want to
[443]
work for their company but it shows that
[445]
you have researched them they set high
[447]
standards and you are also mentioning
[449]
their which i think is really important
[450]
you intend to stay there for a prolonged
[453]
period of time nobody wants to hire a
[455]
risk analysis who's just going to go
[458]
within a few months the next question
[461]
described a situation when you have to
[463]
change an existing process this is a
[465]
tough question
[466]
it is commonly referred to as a
[468]
behavioral interview question so being
[471]
adaptable to change and embracing it
[474]
positively are important aspects of
[476]
being a risk analyst so this is a common
[480]
behavioral interview question and it is
[482]
important you give the hiring manager a
[484]
specific situation you have previously
[486]
been in so here's my example answer to
[490]
assist you describe a situation when you
[492]
had to change an existing process in a
[495]
previous risk analysis role we had been
[498]
working to a set of processes and
[500]
procedures for a long period of time
[502]
everyone within the organization was
[504]
used to the processes they were
[506]
effective and we were comfortable with
[508]
them however a new senior manager joined
[512]
the team and she decided to shake things
[514]
up which I thought was a good thing
[516]
complacency is not a particularly good
[518]
thing in any organization and you need
[520]
to change to maintain your market
[522]
position initially the changes were not
[524]
particularly well received by most of
[526]
the team however I decided to get
[529]
involved with the implementation of the
[531]
change and I helped write some of the
[533]
new policies
[534]
during this time I took the opportunity
[535]
to explain to other people within the
[538]
team how the changes could bring about
[540]
improved results if we embrace them
[542]
positively after a while everyone within
[545]
the team started to see the value of the
[547]
change and it wasn't long before
[548]
positive financial results were brought
[550]
about by the new procedures and working
[553]
practices so that type of answer shows
[555]
that you want to get involved in change
[558]
but you realize the importance of it and
[561]
you have taken positive action to
[563]
encourage other people to see the
[565]
benefits of the change and then there is
[567]
a result at the end which is positive
[569]
the next question what is value at risk
[572]
and how would you calculate it so this
[575]
technical risk analysis interview
[577]
question assesses your ability to assess
[580]
risk within an organization a financial
[582]
position or perhaps a portfolio so
[585]
here's my suggested answer to help you
[587]
so what is a value at risk var and how
[591]
would you calculate it value at risk
[594]
essentially quantifies the level of
[597]
financial risk within IVA and
[599]
organization an investment portfolio or
[601]
a position there are three different
[604]
methods for measuring value at risk the
[606]
first method is to assess historical
[608]
data and information this is a
[611]
particularly trustworthy method to use
[613]
providing there is sufficient historical
[615]
data to utilize another method is a
[618]
Monte Carlo simulation
[619]
this approach calculates different
[621]
probable results by inputting random
[624]
values each time to give you a set of
[626]
results you can then assess from a risk
[627]
perspective finally there is the
[630]
parametric assessment or variance
[632]
covariance method this technique is
[635]
commonly used to assess risk within a
[637]
portfolio of assets this method can be
[640]
used to calculate the maximum loss
[642]
within certain parameters in my
[644]
experience I would be more likely to
[646]
choose historical data first followed by
[648]
the Monte Carlo simulation and finally
[650]
the parametric assessment so this five
[654]
interview questions and answers there to
[656]
