Do You Really Need an Antivirus in Windows 10?? - YouTube
Channel: Utsav Techie
[4]
So guys, many of you ask me is there any need for the anti virus in Windows?
[11]
If yes, then which one?
[13]
I get loads of such questions, so I thought, I'd clear them up.
[16]
Should we keep any anti virus in windows or not?
[20]
Do the Windows need them?
[22]
Well, let's find out.

[27]
I've noticed many people don't subscribe.
[30]
First of all, I would like to say,
[33]
Microsoft Windows is the world's most popular OS.
[37]
And the most popular Windows version is the Windows 10.
[41]
That's why Windows 10 has the highest rating price in the market.
[46]
Majority of computers are running on Windows 10.
[49]
Then comes Windows 7 and some people are still using Windows 8.
[53]
So yeah,
[54]
about 90% of computers in the world are still running on Windows OS.
[58]
Now it can either be Windows 10, 7, XP or even 8 or any other version.
[63]
They still exist today.
[67]
And then there's the thing about creating viruses.
[69]
So, if anyone, a hacker, say, is making a virus or a malware or a ransom ware,
[75]
or even some adware,
[77]
then these would be targetted towards Windows, since they are the most common OS in computers, that will increase his/her virus targets.
[85]
The thing is,
[86]
if someone is making virus for Windows 10, then it can also affect Windows 8 or 7 or any older version.
[93]
So, that's like a plus point.
[95]
However, it doesn't work in reverse.
[98]
If a virus was made to target Windows 7 then it may not be able to affect Windows 10 since, Microsoft keeps optimizing their OS from time to time.
[108]
So if somebody has the latest Windows version,
[111]
then the old viruses won't be able to affect the latest OS version.
[114]
However the new viruses, they are still a threat.
[118]
And talking about Apple's Mac,
[120]
some people say we use MAc and we get no viruses.
[125]
This is somewhat true and also false.
[127]
Because recently there are viruses being found in Mac too.
[131]
But we are not talking about Mac here, just Windows.
[134]
In Mac, viruses are not that deadly or dangerous.
[137]
Apple in terms of security is very good.
[141]
They give a lot of priority to security.
[143]
And the closed ecosystem of the Mac,
[146]
helps Mac from a lot of malwares and viruses.
[150]
Although it is prone to attacks, but Apple has made them very secure.
[154]
Even though there are viruses in Mac, security wise, it is a good option.
[159]
Whereas in Linux, we don't see any viruses.
[162]
But the major thing is
[164]
Microsoft Windows, where we get to see a lot of things.
[168]
Also in recent years, virus attacks has increased a lot in recent years.
[172]
And in recent times, we have also seen an emergence of new kinds of ransomwares.
[179]
We've also seen new Trojan horses and new kinds of virus attacks.
[183]
And hackers used to make viruses to render the computers useless,
[188]
but that trend doesn't exist anymore.
[191]
Viruses are now made to steal our information.
[194]
We have also seen some scams like
[197]
"Install this software in your system", and later all our banking info and passwords get stolen.
[203]
This scam even made many YouTube channels their targets where those channels were wiped away after logging in to such software.
[211]
This is the story behind this.
[213]
So to fight this, should we keep an antivirus in our system or not?
[217]
Yes, you should always keep anti virus in your windows.
[219]
About anti viruses, I'd like to tell you something.
[221]
The built-in Microsoft Anti virus called Windows Defender,
[226]
has evolved a lot recently.
[229]
Previously, we didn't had much security in Windows Defender
[233]
about 3-4 years ago,
[235]
it just wasn't as good.
[237]
With Windows 10 updates, Windows Defender has evolved a lot.
[241]
In recent years, Windows Defender
[243]
has successfully defended against viruses.
[246]
All the general viruses, malwares, ransomwares
[251]
are easily detected and solved by Defender.
[254]
But the new viruses are different.
[256]
If you keep any sensitive information in your system,
[259]
and you wish to add maximum security on that information,
[263]
and make sure no third party attacks that information
[265]
Microsoft detects any issues in the Windows and push the updates very soon
[270]
they keep upgrading the definitions of Windows Defender.
[274]
All this to provide a secure experience to the users.
[277]
Microsoft has done a good job.
[279]
But still all the new attacks coming in the market,
[282]
can be stopped with an extra layer of free or paid anti virus.
[287]
There are tons of free anti viruses in the market
[290]
and if you want to use them, you can check them out.
[294]
There are many anti viruses out there.
[295]
We have Avast, Kaspersky and many other companies.
[301]
We can their free versions.
[303]
But in many free anti viruses we don't get to see real time protection.
[309]
Real time protection means,
[311]
When you scan your system,
[312]
only then you can find any potential threat otherwise you can't.
[315]
And if you are using any software while scanning, which is already attacked by a virus, won't show until you close the software.
[319]
These are some problems and limitation with the free anti viruses.
[324]
But if you have a free anti virus, with Windows Defender with Windows on latest updates,
[331]
then this secure environment is enough for most users.
[333]
If you are using internet normally,
[336]
and your banking transactions
[338]
then you are somewhat safe, and won't face any major problem.
[342]
But if you are working on an enterprise level,
[344]
and your system has a lot of sensitive information,
[348]
and you don't want it to get leaked, then you need paid security for better privacy.
[351]
Paid security is flourished with different tools and encryptions that
[357]
helps in providing better security to our system.
[361]
Hackers can use pen drives and other things to access a system if it is fully protected.
[369]
This is why we need more protection.
[371]
Plus, you'll see better security against new viruses that are coming to the market.
[375]
Overall, if you are having many sensitive information,
[379]
you need a paid anti virus.
[381]
If you are a casual internet user, then you can get away with Windows Defender.
[387]
It can also defend against ransomwares.
[389]
And if you want an additional layer of security,
[392]
you can use any free anti virus.
[394]
The thing about paid anti virus is that if you have a lot of sensitive information,
[401]
and the risk of information leak is potent,
[406]
only then you should go for a paid anti virus otherwise, a free one can work brilliantly as well.
[410]
For a normal user, Windows Defender is more than enough.
[413]
So if you have Windows Defender, and you are a casual user,
[418]
and you download safe and legal software, you are safe.
[424]
Your chances of getting attacked are almost none.
[427]
I hope this video helped you to know whether you should keep an anti virus in your laptop or computer or not.
[432]
And if you don't want anti virus, then Windows Defender works pretty good.
[436]
Even though you don't need many anti viruses for Mac, we are still seeing many anti viruses made for it.
[443]
Mac is different even when we get an anti virus in it,
[446]
still many less people prefer to add another anti virus in their Mac.
[450]
People who use legal software and access internet normally,
[454]
for them, Mac is quite sufficient.
[458]
Now, I have a question for you all.
[461]
Do you guys user anti viruses? If yes, the which one, Windows Defender, free or a paid one?
[466]
Let me know in the comments below.
