okay so westworld season 4 episode 6

sets up the penultimate episode with a

couple of twists here and there as
[6]
always the show is filled with easter
[8]
eggs that call back to earlier episodes
[10]
and throughout this video we're going to
[11]
be breaking them all down we're also
[13]
finally going to get the answer as to
[15]
why so many of my subscribers are

leaving i'm just trying

to get away

anyway we open in new york and see the
[26]
first meeting of frankie and jay at this
[29]
point the parasites have infected
[30]
everyone and the outliers like him have
[32]
started to question the nature of their
[34]
reality now we saw this heavily
[36]
throughout last week's episode with the
[37]
rescue mission carried out by the rebels
[40]
here we met lindsay who was seemingly
[42]
saved by jay though we'll get into the
[44]
truth of this later down the line now
[45]
they very much gave us the idea of how
[47]
the outliers slowly realize that
[49]
something is wrong with the world and
[50]
then the rebels have a short window to
[52]
pull them out i'm not sure how they
[54]
learn about this but they clearly have
[56]
some way to monitor the park and all its
[57]
systems it might just be a case of them
[60]
breaking their loops which we now know
[62]
are designed by christina now frankie
[64]
approaches jay and he brings up his
[66]
brother daniel turns out that he was an
[68]
outlier too who was taken away and this
[70]
memory was erased from his parents minds
[73]
this is very similar to maeve who had
[74]
the memory of her daughter removed after
[76]
her loop was changed however like maeve
[79]
jay still has flashes of him and because
[81]
of this it sets off several red flags in
[83]
the park surveillance frankie takes him
[85]
to her mother uaid who reveals that the
[87]
drones are coming to shut him down as
[89]
they try to get out the tower sounds off
[91]
and everyone freezes including a pair
[93]
having a picnic this reminded me a lot
[95]
of the nightmare we heard from maya
[97]
about how the flies swarmed her when she
[98]
was out with their family and
[100]
potentially this could be based off that
[102]
children sit in their swings with
[103]
ricketus grins and overall it's a creepy
[106]
scene that's made even worse by the
[108]
arrival of the drones clearly the
[110]
flights that they work on must have
[111]
hitched to ride as we see one appear out
[113]
of nowhere and attach itself to one of
[115]
the rebels imagery of flies crawling
[117]
across someone's face is something
[119]
that's popped up before and it happened
[120]
with dolores in season one as well as
[122]
jim navarro in this one you wait and co
[124]
make a break for it and we see how the
[126]
surroundings change for the rebels gone
[128]
are the pristine and spotless cities and
[130]
instead they hide out and run down homes
[132]
with broken fences and destroy trees
[134]
lots of matrix vibes here with this
[136]
being the real world and the city being
[138]
the simulation up the stairs we can also
[140]
catch a graffiti tag that says free free
[142]
will which calls back to the same
[144]
wording that was used outside caleb's
[146]
house frankie goes to her radio in an
[148]
attempt to reach out to her father which
[150]
we've seen her doing throughout the
[151]
season this becomes very important later
[154]
on and it's a routine she's carried out
[156]
for most of her life at this point she
[158]
also drops this line about wanting a
[160]
brother to which jay says i'm not your
[162]
brother
[164]
there's no point in leaving these
[165]
messages
[166]
your dad is gone
[168]
this ends up giving away the host
[169]
version of him later on who tries to act
[171]
overly nice whereas this guy's a bit of
[174]
it
[175]
from here we could have frankie and
[176]
menard who are currently escorting me to
[178]
temperance at this point bernard also
[180]
drops a very interesting line about
[181]
frankie you think you know a lot don't
[184]
you about you
[186]
i never quite know what you'll do next
[189]
now this means that she's truly an
[190]
outlier as it's impossible to predict
[192]
what she's gonna do this was murdering
[194]
caleb during season three and the reason
[196]
that sorak basically had him reformatted
[198]
is because rehoboam was unable to
[200]
predict his actions now with her being
[202]
the child of an outlier she isn't really
[204]
in the system as he was unpredictable so
[207]
therefore his offspring would be too
[209]
potentially rehoboam was used as part of
[211]
the way to infect people with the
[213]
parasites and the outliers in that may
[215]
also be carried over as outliers here
[218]
now after the title sequence we cut to a
[219]
memory of caleb and frankie holding
[221]
hands as they walk through a field
[222]
together we later see how this happy
[224]
memory inspires the recreation of caleb
[226]
to push further than he's ever gone
[228]
before this idea of walking through a
[230]
field holding hands with a daughter
[232]
figure is of course something that's
[233]
also been reflected in maeve we do have
[236]
visions of their doing this in the
[237]
recent entries and the sublime itself is
[240]
also a golden field like what we have
[242]
here at this point though hale tells him
[244]
to wake up this is something that she
[246]
later repeats at the end and it very
[248]
much starts a new loop for her to study

caleb

wake up now this is revealed to be a
[256]
game which caleb actually guesses
[259]
instantly where the hell are we now
[261]

playing another one of your games

charlotte mocks him for constantly
[266]
bringing up his daughter and she says
[268]
he's not the only person who lost
[269]
someone this is likely referring to the
[271]
real charlotte's child and x in season 3

who ended up being killed whilst she
[276]
survived she's desperate to know why so
[278]
many of the hosts send their own lives
[280]
when they come into contact with
[281]
outliers and it makes sense why she
[283]
instructs them not to talk with those
[285]
that become targets however hope did as
[287]
did william and slowly they seem to come
[289]
to the realization that they don't find
[291]
enjoyment in torturing humans they're
[293]
better than us and would also rather die
[296]
than be at the mercy of hail it
[298]
basically just says that they'd rather
[299]
no longer exist than be stuck inside

this prison of her making that chains
[303]
both the humans and also the hosts she
[305]
wants to see if this can provide any
[307]
insight and as caleb refuses to talk she
[310]
has to concoct this plan she even plants
[312]
the idea that frankie is alive in his
[314]
head which sends him off on his quest if
[316]
you won't tell me
[318]
maybe your daughter will now the booth
[320]
that they're in amongst the cylindrical
[321]
structures is also very similar to the
[324]
one that james delos was stuck inside
[326]
during the fidelity test there's further
[328]
nodes to this with a version of caleb
[330]
that's cut up his own face during season

two both elsie and benard came across a
[334]
variant of him that it scratched away at
[336]
his face too echoing the horror that we
[338]
see here hail is also wearing all black
[341]
which is the same color that william
[342]
used to have on when he went to run

through tests with delos as hell exits

the room she presses a control panel

with 278 written on it which is a nice
[350]
little detail as she brings 279 in at
[353]
the end now she enfrosts the glass and

at this point we see the other calyps
[357]
this hint towards how further along they
[359]
are due to the quote-unquote hourglass

and where the sand is in it the more
[363]
they deteriorate the more they start to
[365]
self-harm and this system moves in a
[367]
circular motion to place the oldest and
[369]
newest in cases beside each other now

hill also self-harms throughout by
[373]
scratching her arm however i don't think

that this show she's deteriorating more
[377]
so it's calling back to season 3 in

which she used to do the same thing the

beat up caleb then tells him how to
[382]
escape and he also hints to the other
[385]
loops i only know

well i told me

now caleb discovers a needle in the
[394]
hourglass that knocks him unconscious

the drone comes in and attempts to

incinerate him but he manages to escape

i'm guessing all this is what plays on

the credit scene namely how it ends

similar to what we have here we had

several people inside cylinders that

ended up burning which i think this

scene is meant to hint towards in
[411]
caleb's dream he recalls how he met you
[413]
aid which is where maeve left him she
[416]
realized that he'd found happiness annie
[418]
wade is revealed to be his nurse this
[420]
was actually hinted at when they dropped
[421]
him off due to her fixing his trip
[423]
there's a great cut of the torch being
[425]
cut with a creepy creepy drone i'll be
[427]
honest i woke up to worse she tried to
[430]
kill me too you having that
[431]

anyway caleb escapes through event in
[434]
the floor and it begins again that's
[436]
hinted towards judo and arrow being
[438]
scratched on the metal in the bottom he
[440]
finds a ben corpse along with ashes
[442]
which are the ones who weren't lucky
[444]
enough to make it through this part cut
[445]
to temperance which is now completely
[447]
run down and covered in dust this
[449]
actually appeared as a vision to bernard
[451]
when he was in the sublime and other
[453]
moments in that had the hoover dam
[454]
servers heading towards where his quest
[457]
may be going they pass a shop called the
[459]
oyster bar and if you cast your mind
[461]
back to episode 4 this is actually where
[463]
maeve and caleb led charlotte past when
[465]
they made a break for it we can also
[467]
catch the butterfly tavern in the
[468]
background and in westworld this was
[470]
called the mariposa which translates to
[472]
butterfly now using the same service
[475]
elevator that maven co escaped out of
[477]
bernard leads frankie down into a hidden
[479]
floor which was used as a game itself
[481]
this was one of the main places that was
[483]
used to create the super spreaders and
[485]
bernard says that this place wasn't
[486]
built to last hale and william had it
[488]
thrown up to attract people and rather
[490]
than being something they could run for
[492]
a long time they used it as a front to
[494]
enact their own game they find what i
[496]
believe is the fake hector and pull out
[498]
his pearl as a way to duplicate maeve i
[500]
love this detail as hector of course
[502]
saved maeve at several points during the
[504]
earlier seasons so having him be the one
[506]
who also brings her back is a nice
[508]
carryover now bernard starts the host
[510]
tank up and now this might be a reach i
[513]
got a lot of flashes here when he used
[515]
to work for the synthetic meat farm back
[516]
in episode 3. i think at the time they
[519]
purposely used that iconography to show
[521]
how bernard had moved from one synthetic
[523]
meat form to the next and it's sort of
[525]
like poetry they rhyme now they start to
[528]
resurrect her in the butterfly tavern
[529]
which too has a lot of symbolism as it's
[532]
where maeve was reborn in westworld when
[534]
her loop was changed whereas westworld
[536]
used to monitor and copy people's brains
[538]
through using the hats hale developed a
[540]
much faster way in order to copy guests
[542]
in this park that wasn't designed to
[543]
have a long lifespan hidden behind
[545]
mirrors these monitored people and
[547]
helped her make duplicates which
[549]
explains why she was able to easily
[551]
create copies of other people bernard
[553]
also says the phrase through the looking
[555]
glass and not to alice in wonderland
[557]
that was too brought up in the matrix to
[559]
talk about going on the other side of
[560]
the mirror in alice in wonderland this
[562]
was meant to signify someone passing
[564]
into another world which mirrors the
[566]
jewel ones that we have in this season
[568]
now using the tech in it they'll be able
[570]
to copy maver cross quicker and at the
[572]
poker table they put her into hector
[574]
after hiding the pills bernard starts to
[576]
fix maeve with a pen that was used to
[578]
heal the hosts in westworld frankie
[580]
compares this to taking care of her own
[582]
mother who couldn't get medical
[583]
attention due to the world being overrun
[585]
by machines at this point the rest of
[587]
the group arrive in the dropship similar
[589]
to the one that sorak used to fly in i
[591]
couldn't see it for a while but it's
[593]
there if you look close enough it's yeah
[596]
sometimes sometimes the jokes are pretty
[598]
now the big mystery around this part of
[600]
the episode revolves around which one of
[602]
the rebels is a host however if you were
[605]
paying attention last week then you'll
[606]
know that it was jay because he was the
[608]
only one that went off on his own they
[610]
suspect that someone leaked their attack
[612]
to hell which is thought to be bernard
[614]
he says it's complicated and due to him
[617]
not knowing he was swapped out he likely
[619]
did do this because of what it would
[620]
lead to remember bernard is basically a
[623]
version of rehoboam at this point that's
[625]
constantly working the angles in order
[627]
to get on a path in which humanity ends
[629]
up saved now a bit of a theory time
[631]
theory time theory time but i think he
[633]
likely leaked the info to hell and then
[635]
she leaked the news about the outliers
[637]
to the rebels so that they could come
[639]
and get lindsay out hell could then swap
[641]
out whichever one broke off and she
[642]
likely had copies of all the people
[644]
going in now going forward as mentioned
[647]
earlier bernard's vision could end up
[648]
leading him to the hoover dam which is
[650]
where all the data from westworld was
[652]
kept in service by the original hail
[654]
haloris wants to access this but she
[656]
doesn't have the passwords however a
[658]
person who may is bernard because he
[661]
gained access to it at the end of season
[662]
3. in the sublime there would be a copy
[665]
of hell because she accessed the park
[667]
and thus this could have ended up
[668]
telling him he also of course has the
[670]
ability to run through every possibility
[673]
so potentially he'd already be like you
[674]
know be able to just work out the
[676]
passwords now this place would also have
[678]
a copy of caleb due to him doing
[680]
training exercises as part of the army
[682]
so now that the pieces have fallen in
[684]
place for frankie delane haddad is
[686]
somewhat alive and out there it might
[688]
end up leading to the group going there
[689]
next why not though and as always that's

the end of your time your time here time

anyway frankie shoots bernard runs up

the others and holds both the hosts

hostage at this point bernard basically

goes through the possibilities of people

that could be the mole and how in some

realities it's different members of the

group as we've kind of touched upon this

is because hale would have swapped out
[730]
whoever went off but bernard couldn't
[732]
have known for definite jain forces the
[734]
feelings of paranoia but i would have
[736]
just been like hey mate remember that
[738]
time you didn't like and subscribe and
[740]
if you said yeah i'd know it wasn't you
[742]
because you always do she suspects her
[744]
girlfriend a bit after she doesn't know
[745]
why she's resurrecting maeve and also
[748]
when she probes about where her brain is
[750]
back with caleb we watch as he makes his
[752]
way through the olympiad building we
[754]
even see the room hail tested for
[755]
fidelity in as well as a drone working
[757]
on the host processing unit that the one
[759]
we meet at the end is currently being
[761]
made in he ends up fighting this beast
[763]
but not before discovering some clues
[765]
that this has all happened before there
[767]
are several handprints on the walls a
[768]
cupboard full of his clothes along with
[770]
more wedding rings than elizabeth taylor
[772]
hey having that one for the dads now
[775]
this is hinted at being a game again by
[776]
how relaxed tale is when we cut to her
[779]
in the next scene with clementine she's
[781]
just waiting for it to play out and she
[782]
looks at the chair which in respect is
[784]
her just waiting for the whole thing to
[786]
culminate rather than wondering where
[788]
caleb is clementine also refers to the
[790]
people as sheep which calls back to
[792]
earlier in the season when hell called
[794]
them livestock by doing his best john
[796]
mcclane impression caleb crawls through
[798]
the vents and he comes face to face with
[800]
a version of himself on the floor or two
[802]
others which you can actually tell a lot
[804]
by looking at the bloodstains when using
[806]
his doppelganger to cushion his fall the
[808]
duplicate ends up with a similar blood
[809]
pattern to the one that seems localized
[812]
showing how these prior two likely came
[814]
down together caleb finally makes it to
[816]
the roof and back in temperance jay
[818]
gives himself away by saying this
[820]
you're my family see
[823]
you're like a sister to me it leads to a
[825]
big fight whilst caleb sends out his
[827]
message to frankie really emotional
[829]
scene in which we can see him shaking as
[831]
he starts to break down he delivers a
[834]
very important line here that also hints
[836]
towards why hosts are taking themselves
[838]
out rather than staying under hail's
[840]
control this world
[842]
humane is
[844]
it's live
[845]
what you have is
[848]
is real
[850]
i really think it's a case of the hosts
[851]
realizing that even though they've
[853]
escaped everything they're still stuck
[854]
in his manufactured reality caleb could
[857]
have resisted the parasite because he
[859]
had something real he lived off-grid
[861]
didn't seem that materialistic and
[863]
wasn't really a slave to the societal
[865]
systems that most humans were calling
[867]
back to the other point before if the
[869]
parasites are artificial they may have
[871]
been created using elements of rehoboam
[873]
to control people which again he's not
[876]
really part of i think the reasoning
[877]
behind how they work will be a big point
[879]
of contention and who knows they might
[881]
not even bother explaining it i think
[883]
they're just in the same way that
[884]
midichlorians weren't really needed to
[886]
explain how the force works that we
[888]
don't really need it in the case of the
[890]
parasites now the radio message somewhat
[892]
reaches frankie and though she doesn't
[894]
hear all of it it's enough to let her
[895]
know that her father is somewhat alive
[898]
she of course also met maeve when she
[900]
was a child and she saves her from host
[902]
j now they're likely going to be heading
[903]
to new york next and i do think that
[905]
maeve will be able to destroy the tower
[907]
due to her setting off the miniature one
[909]
in temperance this sent the hosts into
[911]
agony and i think she'll end up going
[913]
there next or she could head out to the
[915]
dam either way i'm loving this season so
[917]
far and we close out with a great ending
[920]
in which hale kills the caleb that we've
[921]
been following this episode hale ends up
[924]
wiping out all the other ones through
[925]
using fire which is similar to how james
[927]
dallas was finally exterminated she
[930]
returns to the room to find caleb
[931]
hunched over like he'd just been shot
[934]
and once more she tells him to wake up
[936]
the fidelity test will then continue
[938]
which ties into the title of this
[939]
episode this idea of a loop is of course
[942]
seen in caleb however it's also very
[944]
much seen in hail too though she's
[946]
completely unaware of it she's actually
[948]
going through her own lupiere she
[950]
continues this exercise once more
[953]
probably in the hopes of getting a
[954]
different result or learning more about
[956]
what's going on it's completely helpless
[958]
and a big waste of time but she keeps
[960]
doing it because she needs answers this
[963]
has been reflected in a lot of other
[964]
characters namely william who kept going
[967]
back to the park on this continuous loop
[969]
in hopes of getting to the center of the
[970]
maze really is a great way to end it
[973]
showing that all the hosts are stuck in
[975]
cycles whether they believe it or not
[977]
just in the same way that hail
[978]
self-harms the other hoes that come
[980]
across the outliers do too and yet she's
[982]
unable to understand why they do it hale
[985]
herself spends a lot of time with the
[986]
outliers but she can't grasp what's
[988]
going on with them which makes for an
[990]
excellent way to wrap up this entry and
[992]
we just have two episodes left and i
[994]
can't wait to see what happens with them
[996]
