DIY Magnetic Sensory Bottle!! + Announcement!! - YouTube

Channel: Get Crafty Crafty

[0]
We're doing another magnet project today.
[1]
And I never really know what to draw
[3]
for my chalk art when it comes to magnets.
[5]
So today I drew the original metal bender,
[7]
Toph Bei Fong.
[8]
Who's your favorite Avatar character?
[15]
Hey guys!! Ray Pajar from Get Crafty Crafty!!
[18]
And today we're going to be doing
[19]
another craft project from the blog
[21]
Left Brain, Craft Brain.
[23]
If you guys haven't checked them out
[25]
make sure you pay a visit to them,
[26]
I'll have a link to their blog in the description below.
[29]
The last project that I did
[30]
from their blog was the
[32]
color changing goo.
[33]
And I decided to change that up
[35]
by making it a
[37]
galaxy color changing goo.
[39]
So make sure you also check out that video
[41]
right up here!
[42]
But just like that project
[44]
I'm going to take a project from that blog
[46]
and make it a little different
[48]
but putting my own little twist to it.
[50]
We're going to be making these really cool
[52]
sensory magnetic play bottles
[55]
which shows you what
[57]
a magnetic field actually looks
[59]
and its actually really cool and super entertaining!
[62]
Let go ahead and get started with todays project!
[66]
The item that you'll need for todays project include:
[68]
empty plastic bottles,
[70]
I'm using a plastic water bottle and
[73]
I'm also using an empty plastic
[76]
mouthwash container.
[77]
You want to use the container
[79]
that has a locking cap.
[81]
clear packaging tape,
[83]
MICR toner refill,
[84]
this was actually really hard to find
[86]
but I'll have links to this
[88]
in the description below,
[89]
some strong earth magnets,
[90]
and some water.
[92]
First you want to make sure that your
[93]
water bottles are completely clean.
[95]
Remove any labels
[97]
that might be left on your water bottle.
[98]
When you order your toner
[99]
it's going to come in a plastic bottle
[101]
and on the inside is going to be a black powder.
[104]
Be very carful
[105]
to not breathe in this powder.
[107]
If you need the help or supervision
[108]
from an adult make sure you ask for it.
[111]
Because of the toners magnetic properties,
[113]
it's able to hold the magnet on it's own.
[115]
We're going to be using this today
[117]
for our magnet water bottle.
[119]
Toner is often used
[120]
to create a ferrofluid
[122]
which is a magnetic fluid
[124]
that you can play around with that has
[126]
magnetic properties.
[127]
To start off this project
[128]
you want to take your toner
[130]
and you want to fill you water bottle
[132]
with your toner.
[132]
You only want to fill it up,
[134]
probably a little under,
[135]
about 10 percent of the bottle.
[137]
Carefully pour this out
[138]
so that you don't have any of
[140]
the magnetic parts
[141]
or the particles flying out and
[143]
and floating around freely
[144]
so that you don't end up breathing it in.
[145]
After filling up about 10 percent
[147]
of your water bottle
[148]
with your toner
[149]
you're going to fill the rest of it up with water.
[151]
At first its going to look like
[153]
that your water and toner are not mixing together,
[156]
it's going to take about a day for your
[158]
toner to actually soak up the water,
[160]
and be able to move around freely.
[162]
Until that happens
[163]
you're going to just shake it up
[165]
and use your magnets to try to
[167]
ensure that everything is mixing together.
[169]
If you're using a water bottle for this project
[171]
you want to use a piece of packaging tape
[174]
to seal the top
[175]
so that it cant be undone
[177]
when you're mixing and playing
[178]
with your magnet bottle.
[180]
The original version of this project
[182]
has you use small mouthwash bottles
[184]
to show you the magnetic field and the
[186]
pull of the magnets.
[188]
But I found that
[189]
it was actually a little too easy
[191]
to capture all the little parts,
[192]
so for my version of the project
[194]
I decided to use a bigger water bottle
[196]
to show more of the magnetic field
[199]
and more of the pull of the magnets
[201]
on a bigger scale.
[202]
After about a week
[203]
You'll notice the color
[205]
inside the water bottle will change slightly
[207]
from a clear
[208]
into a light purple,
[210]
just because of the color from the toner
[212]
will actually be absorbed into the water.
[215]
The items in this project
[216]
were a little hard to find
[217]
but hopefully with the link in the description below
[220]
you guys were able to find all the different materials
[223]
to actually put together
[224]
your magnetic sensory bottle.
[226]
This is a cool project
[228]
just because it can actually
[229]
visually show you
[231]
what a magnetic field
[233]
and the magnetic pull of a magnet
[234]
actually looks like.
[236]
Since it's grabbing all the little
[238]
toner particles
[239]
thats floating around in the water
[240]
and then capturing it right inside your bottle.
[243]
If you guys enjoyed this project
[245]
make sure to check out
[246]
some of our other sensory projects
[248]
which were the
[249]
ISpy bottle,
[251]
the jelly fish in a bottle,
[254]
and our foam dough.
[255]
If you guys do make this project,
[257]
make sure you share it with me either on my
[259]
Facebook, Instagram or Twitter
[260]
using the #GetCraftyCrafty hashtag
[263]
and like I said in a previous video
[265]
I'm going to be doing a fun little Halloween giveaway.
[269]
And the last giveaway
[270]
that I said I was going to do was the
[271]
Harry Potter Elder Wand.
[273]
This is going to TearsOfaGirl
[277]
who's dressing up as a vampire
[279]
and she's excited because
[280]
it's her first time doing this without her braces!
