Democrats may have found the open door they
ve been looking for with the Voting Rights

Bill they want to change.

Democrats want to put the federal government
in charge of elections vs states.

This morning senate minority leader Mitch
McConnell said he is open to the idea of change

some election laws with democrats.

He said the rules from 1887 on counting electoral
votes in the senate and allowing members of

congress to question the votes is flawed and
worth discussing.

but it is now time to start discussing how

to move Biden s Build Back Better Bill forward.

They want answers on the child tax credit
checks.

They want answers on the free pre kindergarten
and discounted daycare costs.

They say its time to re-engage and re-start
discussions between the two joes.

One lawmaker said he believe this bill is
still alive and well but will likely need

to be re-made and built a different way.

Manchin said he is open to speaking with colleagues
just like he always has.

He is also open to speaking with the president
just like he always has but he s going to

be less inclined to discuss with the press.

Senator Dick Durbin said no matter what happens
we need to start discussing the child tax

credit monthly checks because everyone should
be on board to cut childhood poverty in half.

Manchin also mention in an interview that
he wants to see the current social security

and medicare programs strengthened before
he will considered expanding.

He said when they are on track to run out
of money you don t add more programs that

run them out of money faster.

You look for ways to strengthen what we already
have.

So it seems Manchin could be pushing more
for the elderly and those on social security

benefits than he is families with kids that
have working parents.

Celinda Lake, a democrat pollster said the
best moves democrats could make between now

and the election is taxing the rich as they
promised and lower the price of prescription

drugs.

These two promise kept would go along way
but she said she doesn t see them being a

focus as Biden wants his $2 trillion bill
as one big bill.
