anytime there are a lot of head
[1]
scratchers that we often report to you
[3]
this one really heads scratchy the white
[5]
house reportedly sending 5 million
[7]
barrels of our reserve oil that you pay
[10]
for with your taxpayer dollars to europe
[12]
and asia president originally said that
[15]
oil would be released to you to help
[16]
lower the price of your gas here in
[18]
america neil crabtree was laid off when
[20]
purple fighting killed the keystone xl
[22]
pipeline and he joins us now neil good
[24]
morning to you
[25]
uh what do you make of this five million
[28]
barrels of oil from the strategic
[30]
reserve that
[31]
the president sent to countries like
[33]
china five million barrels is
[36]
a relative drop in the bucket all things
[38]
considered but i think a lot of people
[39]
assume that oil would be staying here is
[41]
this a big deal to you
[44]
well uh you know exporting oil uh i
[47]
think it's something that the united
[48]
states needs to be a leader in the
[50]
problem is is
[52]
where this oil is coming from you know
[53]
this president's made it you know a
[55]
habit to get into this reserve quite a
[58]
few times now and uh
[60]
we've still got three more months of him
[62]
drawing out a million barrels a day and
[65]
we've already we're already down to
[66]
levels in the reserve we ain't seen
[68]
since probably 1986
[71]
and the question is you know
[73]
what are we going to do after that's
[75]
over with we can't just keep dipping
[76]
into this we've got to find some
[78]
solutions to the the real problem is the
[81]
world is demanding more oil and we've
[82]
got a government that's limiting the
[85]
ability to get it keep in mind what this
[87]
is actually labeled is the strategic
[90]
petroleum reserve the strategy is to
[93]
allow us to have gas in case we are in a
[96]
situation where we desperately need it
[97]
let's think national security wartime
[100]
things along those lines we are
[102]
potentially to your point neil to
[104]
pleading that to a level that could make
[106]
us strategically vulnerable and that is
[109]
concerning we always have you on neil to
[111]
talk about your perspective from
[112]
somebody who works in the industry i
[114]
want you to put on a different hat be
[116]
the consumer the average american
[118]
consumer who's struggling right now to
[119]
pay for gas at the pump what are they to
[122]
think when they see president biden
[124]
releasing this to carly's point to our
[126]
enemy to china
[128]
that makes no sense and it has to be so
[130]
frustrating to every single american
[134]
it is it's it's frustrating and what's
[137]
really frustrating is you know the
[139]
excuses that we keep getting we keep
[140]
hearing this is all russia's fault and
[143]
the white house is trying to paint a
[145]
picture of uh
[147]
this price hike being the total fault of
[149]
russia because their oil is completely
[151]
off the market well that's that's not
[153]
true the russian oil is still going to
[155]
the market you know the united states
[156]
may not be buying it but places like
[158]
china are buying that oil so it is
[160]
getting to the market in a lot of cases
[163]
it's getting sold at a discount price so
[165]
i'm not buying this uh putin price hike
[168]
yeah and the other thing this is new
[170]
neil during a time of record high gas
[171]
prices the president is considering
[174]
banning offshore drilling according to
[176]
the new york times um they say he is
[178]
likely to block new drilling in the
[180]
atlantic and pacific ocean so if that
[183]
does happen how could he say that he's
[184]
doing everything in his power to lower
[187]
gas prices
[190]
well basically because uh they're not
[192]
doing everything in their power you know
[193]
would you go all the way back to the
[195]
campaign when the president
[197]
said that he was going to destroy the
[199]
fossil fuel industry and those are words
[201]
that he cannot escape they can
[204]
they can get in front of the public and
[205]
say they're trying everything they can
[207]
but they really offer nothing but
[209]
excuses uh i heard the transportation
[211]
transportation secretary the other day
[213]
saying that uh
[214]
that they want to uh take these leases
[216]
away if uh
[218]
if these companies aren't using them but
[221]
uh you know i could get behind that if
[223]
the leases and the permits came together
[225]
but the administration knows that just
[228]
because they give these leases out
[229]
they've got these companies behind the
[231]
eight ball when it comes to obtaining
[232]
permits
[233]
neil you mentioned
[235]
i don't think biden can escape what he
[238]
said on the campaign trail question to
[239]
you neil does he want to is this his
[241]
strategy is this his plan all along to
[244]
get rid of fossil fuels and get us into
[247]
this this panacea that he wants to have
[250]
which is not reality of us all on
[253]
electric cars and no fossil fuels
[257]
i think it is part of the plan you know
[259]
this administration is the
[260]
administration that's been soft on crime
[262]
so i don't think they mind people
[264]
getting robbed when they go to the the
[266]
the gas station every day
[268]
yeah well uh we refer to you as a laid
[271]
off keystone xl pipeline worker you've
[272]
since slammed in a big job in new jersey
[274]
obviously you've landed on your feet
[276]
which is no surprise to everybody who's
[278]
been watching you on our on our channel
[280]
interestingly enough the job that you
[282]
have is not building solar panels as
[284]
john kerry suggested and i think that's
[286]
really the point is that the biden
[287]
administration is really trying to rush
[289]
into renewables before it's a viable
[291]
option we always appreciate having you
