Step by Step DOG COLLAR EMBROIDERY | Reward your good boy! (Embroidery Hub Ep83) - YouTube
Channel: Ricoma TV
[0]
hey guys welcome back to another episode
of embroidery hub and I know it's been a
[3]
while since I've done a full length
tutorial for you guys so I'm super
[6]
excited for this episode one of our
beautiful distributors asked us how to
[10]
embroider
a dog collar so I decided to kill two
[13]
birds with one stone and create a video
for you guys so let's just jump right in
[21]
woof before we get started please make
sure to subscribe by hitting the little
[25]
bell icon below that way you can stay
updated with our next videos and trust
[29]
me they're going to be great
so before we waste any more time let's
[32]
jump right into how we can embroider on
a dog collar but before we get into that
[37]
let's first talk about the two different
types of dog collars so we have dog
[41]
collars like this one that have double
straps and then we have dog collars with
[46]
just one strap where that's more similar
to like a perhaps a leash or a belt so
[52]
for the ones that have two straps if
it's too small to fit into something
[60]
like the belt hoop then you're gonna
need another alternative and I'm gonna
[64]
get into that in just a minute so for
those of you who do not know what about
[67]
hoop is this is a specialty accessory
that is designed specifically for
[71]
embroidering on belts or anything about
shaped like a ribbon a dog collar
[75]
leashes etc so for this case we're not
going to be using the Bell hoop and I'll
[79]
tell you why in just a minute
the about hoop would actually make it a
[83]
little bit harder only in this case
because it is double strapped and it's
[87]
not large enough to be able to go on the
other side like if we had a leash for
[93]
instance we'd be able to to get it so
that this can go underneath the sewing
[98]
arm remember that this needs to go
underneath that way you're not
[101]
embroidering over the other side this is
a double strap now if you really have no
[107]
other way of doing this which you should
if you have regular embroidery machine
[110]
hoops you can make it work by just you
know flattening it out and centering it
[115]
so that you just get on one part of this
job the part that you're gonna embroider
[120]
but that's too much work so let's take
out the Bell hoop for this instance if
[124]
you guys want to see what you can
embroider on the Bell hope we do have
[127]
videos on that too so I'm gonna go ahead
and link that so with floating we try to
[130]
avoid this option
unless it's absolutely necessary that
[134]
doesn't mean you can't get great results
with voting I have personally floated
[137]
some items and have been able to pull it
off but of course when we are running
[142]
large production there's not really that
much time to be you know pinning things
[146]
and just trying to make it work before I
get into what we're actually gonna do we
[150]
have a video on floating that I'm gonna
go ahead and link so you guys can get a
[153]
better idea of what it is and what its
best to use for so we have ruled out the
[157]
floating option for this particular case
so what do we have left right here I
[162]
have my sighs beep OOP and it's actually
a lot more simple than you think
[167]
all I'm gonna do is just hoop it and
since it is small enough to be able to
[173]
get through the other side as you can
see we'll have space so that the float
[178]
the sewing arm right here so that's able
to easily go through so I'll show you
[183]
what I mean in just a minute but for now
let's go ahead and hoop I'm just using
[186]
one sheet of a light tearaway stabilizer
because this is a fairly thick strap so
[191]
you don't want to use cutaway which is
heavier so usually when you hope you
[195]
hope your stabilizer first and then you
hoop your item so I'm gonna go ahead and
[199]
first put the item right in the middle
and my hoop has some marks that I
[205]
created right here in the center so that
I know I'm centering it correctly but
[209]
I'll get into that in just a minute and
then I'm going to place stabilizer in
[214]
between
[225]
whoof great so I went ahead and I hoped
it following my little black lines that
[230]
I have here in the center of my hoop and
now as you guys can see I have enough
[234]
space here for my opening so I'm gonna
go ahead now and just put it in the
[239]
machine all right so we already know
that we're using tearaway backing now as
[251]
far as the Mito is concerned you can use
a 75 11 sharp point or an 80 12 right
[256]
now I'm gonna go ahead and keep my 75 11
needle in here because I'm only doing
[260]
one of these dog collars um and yeah
they're pretty thick but the 7511 should
[264]
be fine now if you're gonna do a larger
production I might recommend switching
[269]
up to your 80 12 needle just cuz this is
such a thick material as far as speed is
[274]
concerned I'm gonna leave it at 600 to
700 just because the material is a
[278]
little bit thicker and I do want the
lettering to show up very well this is
[282]
one of those type of materials that the
lettering can sink into so I'm gonna go
[285]
ahead and just put a sheet of water
soluble stabilizer right on top no need
[289]
to hoop it together with it you can just
float it right above so I think we've
[293]
covered all bases as far as materials
are concerned but now how do we Center
[298]
so I already have about pretty much
centered in the hoop and my design is
[301]
already centered in this hoop so it's
safe to say that it will already come
[306]
out in the center however we still need
a trace and make sure that the needle is
[310]
gonna fall exactly where we want it to
so right now I am just aligning the
[317]
needle to the center to make sure that
the lettering is as centered as possible
[345]
so let's go ahead and press Start
finally
[385]
sorry
[391]
it looks like it's all done so let me go
ahead and take it out the hoop and then
[397]
all I'm gonna do is just snip any little
extra tails that came out and get rid of
[401]
this aqua top that's or water-soluble
stabilizer better said that's on top all
[408]
right so this looks pretty great if you
guys are wondering yeah what this says
[412]
it says well well and for those of you
who are not Hispanic this is basically
[415]
like a Hispanic way of saying like
woof-woof so it's like a nickname that
[420]
people give to dogs and our lovely
videographer Ronnie actually named his
[424]
dog Wow Wow
so this is how he decided to spell it so
[429]
I'm excited to see what its gonna look
like I'm not cute little doggy oh wow I
[433]
gotta lean though so excited okay
alright guys so that is how you
[439]
embroider a dog collar and as you can
see it's nothing crazy it's just a
[443]
matter of taking a few simple steps
again we were open to doing more videos
[447]
on all types of projects so if you have
any particular projects that you're not
[450]
