UHOH! Joe Rogan Silenced! Big Ad Ban, Bitcoin Crash, Biden's Weak Words on Israel & Question Dodging - YouTube

Channel: Philip DeFranco

[0]
- [Reporter] Mr. President, can I ask you a quick question
[1]
on Israel before you drive away-
[2]
- [Biden] No, you can't.
[3]
Not unless you get in front of the car
[5]
as I step on it.
[6]
- [Philip] What did he say?
[8]
Okay.
[9]
- I'm only teasing.
[9]
- 'Sup, you beautiful bastards?
[11]
I hope you're having a fantastic Wednesday.
[12]
And I just want to say something to you really quick.
[14]
Yesterday, Tuesday, there was not a "Philip DeFranco Show."
[16]
It wasn't because we got suppressed or anything like that.
[18]
This may be a little bit TMI, but I've always kind of
[21]
just been very straightforward with you.
[22]
I'm currently making changes
[23]
with the medication that I'm on.
[24]
And yesterday I just, I had zero energy.
[26]
It was like it was sucked out of me
[28]
'cause yeah, I'm just a regular guy
[29]
and life happens to me too.
[31]
But that said welcome back to "The Philip DeFranco Show."
[33]
I missed your face yesterday.
[35]
Welcome back to the Wednesday show.
[36]
Hit that like button, subscribe, all the good stuff.
[39]
And let's just jump into it.
[40]
First thing up today let's talk
[41]
about entertainment/entertainer news.
[43]
Starting with the weird, weird world of influencer boxing.
[47]
You've definitely seen the rise of it
[48]
over the last few years, which makes sense
[50]
because also with the attention comes so much money.
[53]
Well, of course there are a lot of eyes
[54]
and focus on the Floyd Mayweather Logan Paul fight,
[57]
there's also another YouTubers versus TikTokers fight card
[60]
that's happening.
[61]
It's set for June 12th.
[61]
It's been dubbed, or really the gimmick is
[63]
that it's the battle of the platforms.
[65]
And at the top of the card, you have Bryce Hall
[67]
and Austin McBroom who really couldn't be more different.
[70]
The only things they really have in common,
[72]
one, they're massive creators with tons of fans
[75]
and two, everyone who is not a fan of them would love
[78]
to see both of them get punched in the face.
[80]
And the reason they're in the news day is,
[82]
well, it's kinda like that movie.
[85]
(record scratch)
[86]
- [Man] Yup, that's me.
[87]
You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation.
[90]
- And so the two ended up getting into a fight
[92]
while they were promoting the match,
[93]
but it's hard to even call it a fight.
[95]
Bryce Hall charges Austin McBroom,
[97]
kind of pushes him, but then gets pushed to the side.
[99]
Then everyone jumps on top.
[100]
He then gets taken to the ground
[102]
where we see just that amazing screenshot.
[104]
And according to TMZ,
[105]
a bottle ended up being smashed over someone's head
[107]
at some point.
[108]
Yeah, in general, it was a sloppy mess.
[109]
And it made me think of that Bo Burnham song.
[112]
"Art Is Dead."
[113]
I think the song is like 10 years old,
[114]
but I listen to it once a week.
[116]
It really hits on how we reward people for never growing,
[118]
maturing, understanding, learning.
[120]
And I mean, yeah, if you're hoping that it's gonna stop,
[123]
it's not gonna 'cause the,
[124]
I guess we could call it the asshole economy is strong.
[127]
Also on that note, we had Jake Paul in the news
[130]
because boxing promoters have offered him a chance to fight
[132]
for a world championship title
[135]
if he agrees to retire from boxing if he loses.
[137]
But I mean, I doubt that Jake Paul takes the fight.
[140]
He doesn't want to fight an actual championship level boxer.
[143]
He wants to fight a manager at Arby's.
[145]
Which I mean, I don't really mean to disrespect Ben Askren,
[148]
but there are probably some Arby's managers
[150]
that throw a better right hook than him.
[151]
Then in big news around Twitch,
[152]
and it might be the company kind of turning a corner here,
[155]
you know how there's been a rise
[156]
of female creators streaming from hot tubs
[158]
in their swimsuits.
[159]
Well, while Twitch had been kind of keeping distance
[161]
on this saying, you know, "We're monitoring the situation,
[163]
"they weren't really doing anything."
[164]
But it appears as of yesterday that has changed
[167]
with one of the largest streamers taking advantage
[168]
of this trend Amouranth tweeting,
[170]
"Yesterday, I was informed
[171]
"that Twitch has indefinitely suspended advertising
[173]
"on my channel.
[174]
"Twitch didn't reach out in any way whatsoever.
[176]
"I had to initiate the conversation after noticing
[177]
"without any prior warning,
[179]
"all the ads revenue had disappeared
[180]
'from my channel analytics."
[181]
And adding, "This is an alarming precedent
[183]
"and serves as a stark warning
[184]
"that although content may not
[185]
"ostensibly break community guidelines or terms of service,
[188]
"Twitch has complete discretion
[189]
"to target individual channels
[190]
"and partially or wholly demonetize them for content
[193]
"that is deemed not advertiser friendly,
[195]
"something that there is no communicated guideline for."
[197]
And there've been a lot of responses from the community.
[199]
Some thinking that this was the right move, others outraged.
[202]
You also have the likes of Devin Nash tweeting,
[204]
"People who are cheering about Twitch removing
[205]
"Amouranth's revenue will be real mad soon
[207]
"when their favorite streamer gets nuked
[209]
"for being a brand risk.
[210]
"If you think this stops at sexual content, think again."
[212]
You even had creators like XQC
[214]
who has previously been critical of hot tub stream saying
[216]
that people should chill out
[217]
until there's more communication from Twitch about this.
[219]
Also implying he thinks that this could be an issue
[221]
for other creators.
[221]
Then also adding, "This might've saved everybody
[224]
"from losing their ads.
[225]
"This might be a scapegoat for all of us."
[226]
Though he didn't really elaborate there.
[228]
Then you had Joe Rogan in the news
[230]
for the same reason Joe Rogan's always in the news,
[233]
he said something on his podcast.
[234]
That clip then later went viral on Twitter.
[236]
- You can never be woke enough.
[237]
That's the problem.
[238]
It keeps going.
[239]
It keeps going further and further
[241]
and further down the line.
[242]
And if you get to the point where you capitulate,
[245]
where you agree to all these demands,
[248]
it will eventually get
[249]
to straight white men are not allowed to talk.
[252]
Because it's your privilege to express yourself
[254]
when other people of color have been silenced
[256]
throughout history.
[257]
It will be you're not allowed to go outside
[260]
because so many people were imprisoned for so many years.
[263]
I mean, I'm not joking.
[264]
- [Man] I know, I know.
[265]
- It really will get there.
[266]
It's that crazy.
[267]
- Joe!
[268]
Here's the thing I disagree with the extreme
[271]
that Joe Rogan went to.
[272]
Like, white men are gonna be in cages
[274]
and their mouths are gonna be clamped shut.
[276]
I think that is stupid, ridiculous.
[279]
I think it feeds into white fragility,
[281]
fear for white people
[282]
that they're essentially being replaced.
[284]
And that goes to a scary place.
[286]
And while Joe Rogan has said...
[287]
- Don't listen to me.
[288]
I'm a fuckin' idiot.
[289]
Why are you listening to me?
[290]
- That said, you know, when you have someone
[291]
with such a large platform feeding into that fear,
[294]
fear turns into anger, anger turns into violence.
[296]
Then you know, I debate in my head.
[299]
I'm like, if you look at the core
[299]
of what he's talking about,
[300]
we've all seen woke-ism go into a ridiculous place.
[303]
People trying to shut down classes
[305]
'cause yoga is stealing from another culture,
[308]
stuff like that.
[309]
But in general, the vast majority of us
[311]
when we see stuff like that, we're like,
[312]
"Shut the fuck up.
[312]
"That's silly."
[313]
So to me what it ends up feeling like is a guy
[316]
in a rather privileged situation saying
[317]
that I want to be able to say what I want to say
[320]
without consequence, which is just not how the world works.
[322]
Like, Joe Rogan, you are not going to be jailed
[324]
for the smart or stupid shit that you say on your podcast.
[327]
But when people mock you and make fun of you
[329]
because they feel like your view
[331]
on things is so disconnected from how they view the world,
[333]
like that's just, that's gonna happen.
[335]
Also I mean, since you are saying...
[336]
- "I'm not joking."
[337]
- I really hope that what you're referencing are, like,
[338]
edgy jokes and comedians pushing the line
[341]
and not you on previous podcasts promoting something
[344]
that I think led to even more vaccine hesitancy
[347]
and anti-vax bullshit.
[348]
And understand, I say this as someone
[349]
that is generally a fan of Joe Rogan
[351]
and his comedy and all that stuff.
[352]
Like, same thing I said last time,
[353]
I'm not trying to cancel Joe Rogan,
[355]
get him de-platformed.
[356]
But as a white guy with a platform
[358]
that is not being locked in doors
[361]
and there's no risk of that to another guy,
[364]
another white guy with a massive platform,
[367]
chill out, bro.
[368]
Hey, I know that my opinion here is gonna get me some shit.
[370]
I'm just so tired of seeing straight white dudes acting
[373]
like the most persecuted fuckin' group in the world.
[376]
Bro, the world was built for us.
[378]
Allowing historically silenced voices to speak out
[380]
and have platforms and be a bigger part of the conversation
[383]
than they have been is not oppression.
[385]
Even when, and I would argue especially
[387]
when those voices criticize people like you and me.
[389]
Personally what I've learned to do
[390]
in those moments is shut the fuck up for a second,
[392]
listen to why, and then navigate from there.
[395]
Not always gonna agree,
[395]
and actually, Joe, I think that where you're coming from is
[398]
that you want more people to speak freely
[400]
so we can learn from one another,
[401]
but still the victimhood feels strong there.
[405]
Anyway.
[406]
Then, ooh, baby
[407]
if you are in the crypto market right now
[408]
you very likely took a hit.
[410]
So over the past couple of weeks,
[411]
Bitcoin has been experiencing a rather significant sell-off.
[414]
Last week we talked about Elon Musk saying
[416]
that Tesla would no longer accept Bitcoin as a payment,
[418]
something that sent it tumbling.
[419]
But what we ended up seeing this morning was Bitcoin,
[421]
along with almost all other cryptocurrencies,
[424]
dropping even further.
[426]
This notably happening after the People's Bank of China
[428]
directed financial institutions
[429]
to stop accepting crypto transactions
[431]
and providing crypto related services.
[433]
And this because according to that bank,
[434]
digital currencies have no real value.
[436]
With the bank saying
[437]
alongside the China Insurance and Banking Commission,
[439]
"Prices of cryptocurrency have skyrocketed
[441]
"and plummeted recently,
[442]
"and speculative trading has bounced back.
[444]
"This seriously harms the safety of people's property
[446]
"and disturbs normal economic and financial orders."
[448]
And so with this,
[449]
you have some analysts speculating that this crackdown
[451]
along with China's previous crypto crackdowns may just be
[453]
another way to bolster the country state backed initiative
[455]
for its own digital currency.
[457]
Though, I mean, it is important to note
[458]
that volatility is pretty much tied to Bitcoin's identity.
[461]
Hell, I mean, just in the last 24 hours,
[462]
Bitcoin has fallen from a high of nearly 44,000
[464]
to a low of around 30,000.
[465]
And that's a plunge of around 25%.
[467]
It's the lowest the coin has been traded
[468]
for since late January.
[469]
Meanwhile, you had Etherium falling
[471]
from around $3,500 to $1,900 over 24 hours,
[474]
roughly a 45% drop.
[476]
Dogecoin losing 55% of its value.
[478]
Though that said, all three have come back somewhat
[480]
from their lows this morning.
[481]
With this you have a lot of people wondering
[482]
what's gonna happen next?
[483]
Outlets like Barron's running the headline,
[485]
"The Bitcoin Bubble is Popping.
[486]
"Why There's No Telling Where the Selling Stops."
[488]
But you also had others such as an executive director
[490]
at one crypto related hedge fund saying,
[492]
"In terms of Bitcoin's outlook,
[493]
"things may be looking grim right now
[495]
"but historically this is yet another hurdle
[497]
"for Bitcoin to overcome
[498]
"and a small one compared to what it has braved
[500]
"in the past."
[501]
Which, I mean, it does make sense.
[502]
Bitcoin is still actually up over 300%
[504]
from this time exactly one year ago.
[505]
Hey, as long as you've been treating this
[507]
like most responsible influencers have said
[509]
that you only invest what you're completely willing to lose
[512]
and you're not listening to the shit stain influencers
[514]
who've just been schilling as many shit coins
[517]
as possible to pad their own pockets,
[519]
not caring if you lose your livelihood,
[521]
then you should be fine.
[522]
We've all been responsible.
[524]
Then actually on the note of money,
[526]
I want to talk about the fantastic sponsor
[528]
of today's show Omaze.
[530]
One, because back in January,
[531]
we promoted Omaze's 2021 Bentley Bentayga campaign.
[534]
And I want to send a huge congratulations
[536]
to Sam B. in LA for winning that gorgeous vehicle
[539]
along with $20,000 in cash.
[541]
And two, as many of you know Omaze gives you a chance
[543]
to win life changing experiences and amazing prizes
[546]
all while supporting important non-profit causes.
[548]
Which is why too today we partnered again
[550]
with Omaze to give you beautiful bastards a chance
[552]
to win a Lamborghini Urus and yes, $20,000 in cash.
[556]

[559]
a 21 speaker bang and Olufsen sound system,
[562]
has a touchscreen infotainment system
[564]
with haptics speed back,
[565]
a 360 degree camera system with speed
[567]
and precision handling for the track,
[569]
yet perfectly suitable for your everyday errands.
[571]
And best of all, your entry backs Pencils of Promise
[574]
which has supported over 550 school builds
[576]

[579]
in addition to high quality teacher support
[581]
and social emotional learning to more than 110,000 students
[584]
across Ghana, Guatemala, and Lau.
[586]
It's a total win-win, a chance to win a dream car
[588]
while also providing life changing access
[590]
to quality education and sanitary conditions to students
[592]
and families in need.
[594]
So head on over right now to Omaze.com/PhilDeFranco
[597]
or just click that handy-dandy link down below
[599]
for your chance to win and support this great cause.
[601]
Then in absolutely massive news, we should talk about
[603]
how the office of New York Attorney General Latisha James
[606]
announced yesterday that it has expanded
[607]
its ongoing civil probe of the Trump organization
[609]
into a criminal investigation.
[611]
Since 2019, James has been running an inquiry
[613]
into whether or not Trump
[614]
and his company falsely inflated the value of their assets
[617]
for loan and tax purposes.
[618]
And that probe has run parallel to a criminal investigation
[620]
by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.
[622]
which launched in 2018
[624]
after Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty
[626]
to campaign finance violations in connection
[628]
to hush money he paid to Stormy Daniels.
[630]
And Vance's probe is also looking
[631]
into the same matters as the AG's
[633]
as well as an array of other possible financial crimes
[635]
including tax and bank related fraud.
[637]
And until now those two investigations were separate.
[639]
But as of yesterday, a spokesperson
[641]
for the Attorney General's office issued the statement,
[643]
"We have informed the Trump organization
[644]
"that our investigation
[645]
"into the company is no longer purely civil in nature.
[648]
"We are now actively investigating the Trump organization
[650]
"in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA."
[653]
This is highly significant for two main reasons.
[655]
First, because while James' civil probe,
[656]
which she will still continue conducting,
[658]
could only result in fines and lawsuits,
[660]
a criminal investigation can end
[661]
with actual criminal charges.
[663]
And secondly, the two offices cooperating together means
[665]
they could share data and information.
[666]
And that right there is especially notable
[669]
because after years of legal battles,
[670]
Vance's office recently obtained eight years
[672]
of Trump's personal and business tax returns
[674]
which reportedly has amounted
[675]
to millions of pages of records.
[677]
And notably here former New York state prosecutors
[679]
who spoke to the Washington Post told the outlet
[681]
that it makes possible criminal charges way more likely
[683]
than previously known.
[684]
Though, as the Post notes,
[686]
that doesn't mean those charges will definitely come
[688]
or implicate the former president personally.
[690]
Now that said as far as how Trump responded,
[692]
he issued a lengthy statement today
[693]
blasting the investigation, calling it corrupt and adding,
[696]
"There is nothing more corrupt than an investigation
[698]
"that is in desperate search of a crime.
[700]
"But make no mistake,
[701]
"that is exactly what is happening here."
[702]
Then as you know, we're seeing more and more states
[704]
and places easing mask restrictions,
[706]
especially if you're vaccinated.
[708]
We're also seeing some states going
[709]
into an even further extreme like Texas
[711]
where the governor there, Greg Abbott,
[713]
signed an executive order yesterday
[714]
that bans government entities and public schools
[716]
from imposing mask requirements
[717]
to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
[719]
And in fact, starting this Friday,
[720]
any local government body
[722]
that tries to implement a mask mandate can be fined
[724]
up to $1,000 according to the order.
[726]
Though notably there are some exemptions
[728]
for state supported living centers,
[730]
government owned or run hospitals, prisons, and jails.
[732]
And as far as schools,
[733]
they will be allowed to keep their protections
[735]
until June 4th,
[735]
but after that "no student, teacher, parent,
[738]
"or other staff member or visitor may be required
[741]
"to wear a face cover."
[742]
With Abbott defending the move saying,
[743]
"Texans not government should decide
[745]
"their best health practices
[746]
"which is why masks will not be mandated
[748]
"by public school districts or government entities."
[749]
With this being Texas, there were a lot of people
[752]
that were happy about this move,
[753]
there were also many concerns.
[754]
Some noting that Texas ranks
[755]
in the bottom 15 out of all 50 states
[757]
in terms of percent of population vaccinated,
[759]
with around 30% of Texans fully inoculated right now.
[762]
There's also been a focus on the schools
[763]
because the school year is winding down right now,
[766]
but you also have some massive school districts
[768]
holding classes
[769]
as well as public colleges holding graduation events.
[771]
And those will be happening after the ban goes into effect,
[773]
meaning that Abbott's order directly goes
[775]
against guidelines from the CDC,
[776]
which is advise that schools keep
[777]
coronavirus mitigation measures
[779]
including masks for the rest of this academic year
[780]
which is also why we saw a ton of the top teachers unions
[783]
in the state condemning the move.
[784]
But also here's the thing,
[786]
Abbott is not alone in this move, in this decision.
[789]
Just last week, you had the governor of South Carolina
[790]
signing an almost identical executive order,
[792]
banning mass mandates in schools and government.
[794]
The week before that you had Florida governor Ron DeSantis
[796]
enacting a very similar policy,
[797]
blocking all local mask mandates imposed
[799]
by local governments.
[800]
And really all I can say at this point,
[802]
especially if you're in the United States,
[803]
if you're worried about this,
[805]
get vaccinated 'cause shit is opening up.
[807]
I got my second shot about a month ago.
[808]
I don't wear a mask when I'm outside.
[810]
I got it in my pocket if I need it.
[813]
Obviously the masks are more for other people,
[814]
but if half the fucking country wants
[816]
to be the placebo group in this vast, vast test,
[819]
let them.
[820]
With the general availability of the vaccine
[821]
in the United States right now,
[822]
it has become now more of a conversation
[825]
about personal responsibility.
[826]
Then we had president Joe Biden in the news
[829]
seemingly revising his previous statement
[831]
of "Benjamin Netanyahu, do what you must."
[834]
To now Biden reportedly having another phone call
[836]
with prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu
[837]
with aides reportedly saying on that call
[839]
that Biden expected a significant deescalation today
[842]
on the path to a cease-fire.
[843]
Which could be big news,
[845]
though it is unclear what a significant deescalation
[847]
actually means.
[848]
Does that just mean that the Israeli military pinky promises
[850]
not to destroy any other buildings
[852]
that have media inside of it?
[854]
Thus limiting the ability
[855]
for information to come out from the ground?
[856]
Maybe just kill fewer Palestinian children?
[859]
And while yes, that's more irritated sarcasm.
[861]
The ambiguity there has left a lot to be desired
[864]
from a lot of people
[865]
because it is very unclear how seriously Netanyahu
[867]
actually is taking the warning.
[868]
Because Netanyahu has reportedly
[870]
since taking that meeting also then met
[872]
with his military staff and decided that they were
[873]
"determined to continue this operation
[875]
"until its aim is met."
[877]
With him also reportedly saying this morning
[878]
to foreign ambassadors that
[879]
"you can either conquer them
[881]
"and that's always an open possibility,
[882]
"or you can deter them.
[884]
"We are engaged right now in forceful deterrent,
[886]
"but I have to say, we don't rule out anything.
[888]
"We're not standing with a stopwatch.
[890]
"We want to achieve the goals of the operation.
[891]
"Previous operations lasted a long time,
[893]
"so it's not possible to set a timeframe."
[895]
Which is not unexpected.
[896]
The United States says one thing, does another.
[898]
They're like, "Hey, serious talking to Netanyahu,
[901]
"but also here's that $735 million arms deal.
[904]
"Enjoy the guided missiles."
[906]
Though to be clear that arm sale was in the works
[908]
well before the current fighting began
[909]
and it was a routine sale.
[910]
But I mean, it doesn't need to be said,
[912]
even if the sale was routine,
[913]
things on the ground have changed.
[914]
And the optics of selling Israel devices
[916]
that are believed to be used
[917]
against homes in Gaza are not good.
[919]
Which is in part why it's led to a pretty significant rift
[921]
in the democratic party.
[922]
Some like representative Mark Pocan tweeting,
[924]
"We can not just condemn rockets fired by Hamas
[927]
"and ignore Israel's state sanctioned police violence
[929]
"against Palestinians, including unlawful evictions,
[931]
"violent attacks on protesters
[933]
"and the murder of Palestinian children.
[934]
"US aid should not be funding this violence."
[936]
And in fact, there's now a concerted effort
[938]
to have the house's foreign affairs committee,
[939]
not just rubber stamp every arms deal
[941]
to Israel moving forward.
[942]
But it also remains to be seen how effective that will be.
[945]
Meanwhile, you have Egyptian and UN mediators trying
[946]
to broker a cease fire,
[948]
and despite US efforts to block resolutions
[949]
in the UN security council,
[951]
France has used its position there to once again demand
[953]
for a ceasefire.
[954]
Additionally, Russia warned Israel's ambassador today
[956]
that any further civilian casualties
[958]
in Gaza was unacceptable,
[959]
with also Germany calling for a ceasefire
[961]
and promising to provide aid to Palestinians
[963]
once the fighting stops.
[964]
And I mean, regarding the aid, it is sorely needed.
[967]
Since the fighting began,
[968]
over 52,000 Palestinians have been displaced,
[970]
nearly 450 buildings have either been destroyed
[972]
or severely damaged,
[973]
in total at least 219 Palestinians have been killed
[976]
in airstrikes, over 1,500 wounded.
[978]
For their part, Hamas has fired over 3,700 rockets
[981]
into Israel, killing 12 and injuring dozens.
[983]
And for the time being,
[984]
we're all just kind of watching the devastation happening
[986]
and wondering what's gonna happen next.
[988]
And ultimately with this story,
[989]
