Credit Lines for Cleaning Companies - Do You Need a Loan? - YouTube

Channel: Angela Brown Cleaning

[0]
credit lines for cleaning companies do
[2]
you need a credit line
[3]
in order to build a cleaning business
[6]
that's a great question
[7]
hi there i'm angela brown and this is
[9]
ask a house cleaner
[10]
this is a show where you get to ask a
[12]
house cleaning question and i get to
[14]
help you find an answer
[15]
all right now as we start the new year
[17]
there are a whole bunch of house
[18]
cleaners and they want to know should
[19]
they run out and get a business loan so
[21]
that they can build and grow a cleaning
[22]
company
[23]
my answer to you is no not yet the
[25]
reason being
[26]
is credit means you have to pay it back
[29]
and so right now
[30]
i don't want you to have something else
[31]
you have to pay back until we have money
[33]
coming in
[34]
that will pay off those bills so
[36]
starting a cleaning company you're
[37]
already going to have some new bills
[39]
but i want you to keep it really small
[41]
and i say really small because
[42]
when you plant a tree you don't go out
[44]
and plant a 100 foot tree
[46]
right that would be an enormous
[48]
undertaking
[49]
but the roots would probably not survive
[51]
even if you did that
[52]
okay so you plant a tiny seed and then
[55]
you water it and you fertilize it and it
[57]
grows
[58]
and you keep watering it and you nurture
[60]
it and it grows bigger
[61]
and then the sun and the rain and all of
[63]
the elements
[64]
that kind of challenge the lifestyle of
[66]
that tree
[68]
turn it into what it is it ends up
[70]
weathering the storms and it kind of
[72]
you know grows bark and it gets a little
[74]
bit stronger and it grows a trunk and it
[75]
becomes a tree
[77]
if for any reason you were just to start
[80]
a business with a ginormous loan that's
[82]
like planting the great big
[84]
monster tree that the roots would
[86]
probably not survive okay
[87]
so don't take out a big business loan
[89]
yet in the cleaning business
[92]
and i'm gonna break this down this is
[93]
not commercial cleaning where you clean
[95]
office buildings that's a different
[96]
youtube show this is house cleaning
[99]
for house cleaning we need a cleaning
[101]
caddy and a uniform
[103]
right that's it that's pretty much what
[104]
we're gonna do to clean it's
[106]
us ourselves we are what's going in to
[109]
clean
[110]
and so you don't need a business loan
[111]
for that now there are a lot of people
[113]
that say well i need a company car i
[115]
need to wrap my car i need advertising i
[117]
need
[117]
seo all right you do need all those
[119]
things but
[120]
not right now okay you're still a little
[123]
seed that we're going to plant in the
[124]
ground
[125]
so right now the seed doesn't need as
[127]
much nurturing and as much fertilizer as
[129]
a ginormous tree
[130]
it it just needs a little bit because
[132]
it's small so right now we're going to
[134]
keep the expenses
[135]
really small now what i want us to do
[137]
starting out
[138]
is i do want you to get a company credit
[141]
card
[142]
in your company name here's the rule
[144]
with a credit card
[145]
you buy all of your cleaning supplies
[147]
with the company credit
[149]
card okay that's going to start building
[152]
company credit for you
[153]
but here's the rule to the credit card
[156]
credit means you have to pay it back
[157]
so you're only going to buy what you can
[160]
pay off at the end of the month
[161]
so before the bill is due you're going
[163]
to pay off every penny that's on the
[165]
credit card
[166]
every single month every single month no
[168]
matter what no matter
[169]
if it's a personal card or a business
[171]
card you're going to pay it off at the
[172]
end of every single month
[174]
what that shows the bank is that you
[176]
have a credit line
[178]
or that you have access to credit but
[180]
that you're spending it for
[182]
business only and that you're paying it
[184]
off at the end of every month
[186]
and so what that shows them is like well
[187]
hey maybe we can trust
[189]
this business we should give them a
[191]
little bit bigger credit line
[192]
and the credit line will grow over time
[195]
okay so the day that you go to buy
[197]
six company cars you will have a bigger
[199]
line of credit where you will have
[201]
established credit and the established
[203]
credit allows you
[204]
to walk into a bank and say i would like
[206]
a business loan in order to grow my
[208]
business
[209]
now if you're growing your business it's
[211]
because you're buying
[212]
really expensive equipment or you're
[214]
buying multiple cars or things like that
[216]
okay starting out we don't need that and
[218]
so starting out
[220]
i want us to keep all the money that we
[222]
earn i want us to just
[223]
play a really close to home and i don't
[226]
want us to spend any money we don't have
[228]
to spend even in our personal lives
[229]
so if you have an old phone and the new
[231]
phone comes out
[233]
keep the old phone don't upgrade to the
[235]
new phone just because it's new
[236]
right if the old one works hang on to it
[238]
for a little bit longer and always ask
[240]
yourself can i hang on to this for a
[242]
little bit longer
[243]
because if you're not spending the money
[244]
you have the money either to reinvest in
[246]
your business
[247]
and also there are new expenses that
[249]
you're gonna have that you don't have
[251]
right now
[251]
okay so for me i'm a huge fan
[254]
of buying software and apps and the
[257]
reason being
[258]
is i myself can do a certain number of
[261]
things
[262]
i can do scheduling and invoicing and
[265]
all that stuff
[265]
just by sitting down with a pen and
[267]
paper or typing it up or whatever
[269]
but there are pieces of software like
[271]
housecall pro that will do that for you
[273]
and it creates templates so that every
[276]
single time you go back to a customer
[277]
you have a certain set of templates that
[280]
you are
[280]
are giving to that client it says here's
[282]
the checklist for the day
[284]
here's the job that we did today here's
[285]
the job dispatch that goes to the
[287]
even if you hire somebody that goes to
[289]
the cleaning employee
[291]
then there's that invoice it's already a
[293]
template it already exists it's already
[294]
got the customer's name on
[296]
it so all that stuff already exists i
[298]
just said housecall pro check it out
[300]
housecallpro.com forward slash
[302]
angela they do have a deal for me and my
[304]
friends that will give you a discount
[306]
also check for different industry
[308]
providers
[309]
who have discounts now i know over at
[311]
savvy cleaner which is a learning
[312]
library that i run
[313]
for house cleaners at the top there's a
[316]
resource
[316]
section and if you are new to the
[318]
business and you have not joined the
[320]
program
[320]
you can still access that resource
[322]
section we have provided a lot
[325]
of stuff for you for free because i
[327]
don't want you to spend the money as you
[329]
get started
[329]
i wrote a book called how to start your
[331]
own house cleaning company and it is
[333]
a hundred percent free on amazon you
[335]
download it and you
[336]
read it on any device with the free
[338]
kindle app if you buy the hard copy you
[341]
do have to pay for the hard copy but you
[342]
can download the ebook
[344]
for free okay and on this youtube show
[346]
this is also a podcast that is in 90
[349]
different podcast
[350]
apps over a thousand shows that answer
[352]
your cleaning questions
[354]
for free so i i don't even want you to
[356]
come to the learning library until you
[357]
have money coming in
[359]
until you're at a certain level of your
[361]
business right
[362]
i want you to get started for free
[365]
here's the reason why
[366]
there are a lot of house cleaners that
[368]
think they want into the house cleaning
[369]
business
[370]
and they will they will get in and they
[372]
just go all in
[373]
there's one guy i know that went out the
[375]
first thing he did is he spent three
[376]
thousand dollars and he wrapped
[378]
his company car great big flashy logo
[381]
name it looked amazing he went out and
[384]
he bought door hangers and flyers and
[386]
four color printing and high gloss
[387]
printing
[388]
and his marketing materials look amazing
[391]
but he didn't have
[392]
any customers to help pay for those
[394]
expenses to pay back
[396]
so yes he did get loans he did invest he
[398]
went all in
[399]
he bought a couple new cars he bought a
[401]
bunch of equipment he just he got really
[403]
involved in the business
[404]
and it was all flash and no work and he
[407]
had no work and then no work and no work
[409]
and no work because he missed some of
[411]
the basics
[411]
it's like planting that great big tree
[413]
and the root system started to waffle
[415]
and then the roots started to die and
[416]
shrivel up
[417]
and it's kind of like whoa we can't
[419]
support this great big massive thing
[421]
that's here
[422]
because we we haven't established
[424]
ourselves yet
[425]
and then he went out of business and he
[426]
went bankrupt and i don't want that to
[428]
happen to you i've seen it all the time
[431]
with well-intending business owners so
[434]
do you need a credit line to get in the
[435]
business
[436]
no you don't no not yet not yet the day
[439]
will come when you expand
[441]
but you will have money in the bank you
[443]
will have a business credit because you
[444]
will have built credit over time
[446]
you will have tax records where you can
[448]
show every penny
[450]
that's come in and every penny that's
[451]
gone out and if you're not tracking that
[453]
right now i want you to track
[455]
every penny i want you to know at the
[457]
end of the year how many
[458]
swiffer dusters you bought and how much
[461]
down to the penny
[462]
you spent on them during this year i
[464]
want to know down to the penny how much
[466]
did you spend on glass cleaner
[468]
it's important to know because how will
[470]
you budget
[471]
in the next year going forward knowing
[473]
how many customers you have to have
[475]
based on the expenses that you have so
[477]
you have to know what your expenses are
[478]
you have to know what money is coming in
[480]
and then because we pay taxes and we're
[483]
good upstanding citizens
[484]
you're going to take about 30 of
[486]
everything you
[488]
earn and you're going to set it aside
[489]
for taxes because we pay our taxes
[492]
and when you go to buy a house when you
[493]
go to buy company cars they're going to
[494]
say let me see your tax records they
[496]
want to know are you a real business
[498]
did you really earn money did you pay
[499]
your taxes and how does
[501]
your financial history look if you
[504]
are just accepting cash and you're not
[506]
reporting your income
[507]
and you're not keeping track of your
[509]
income and you're just buying a bottle
[510]
of supply here oops i ran out and you go
[512]
buy another bottle
[513]
and you're not tracking it you're never
[515]
going to survive in business
[516]
and i hate to say that i hate to be ugly
[518]
but your business will just
[519]
fall apart because you don't have the
[521]
basics of the accounting in place
[524]
so i really want you to just stop for a
[526]
second spend
[527]
as little money as you can getting
[529]
started and we will help you grow
[531]
from a little a little seed to a great
[534]
big massive
[535]
oak all right i hope this helps a little
[537]
bit if it does please
