[0]
Hey! Everyone I am Ishan Sharma
[1]
and in this video we will be talking about the best resources
[4]
that you can use to learn about investing
[7]
Investing is a topic that a lot of people confused about
[10]
a lot of people go into investing into meme stocks
[13]
or just some random stuff that seems to be giving crazy returns
[17]
and so I want you to make educated decisions
[20]
right, that鈥檚 what I want you to do and so I'll be talking about the best resources
[24]
that I have been using and they have helped me out a ton
[28]
I hope you will get to learn something from this video
[30]
hit the like button and subscribe to this channel
[32]
First thing that we will be talking about are going to be books
[35]
books are not going to be free for you but if you buy a book
[38]
and implement what they are saying it is going to be effectively free
[42]
because hey you learnt something and now you are trying to implement it in your own career
[46]
in your own investing ah mindset so that will reap you more rewards
[50]
it is effectively going to be free
[52]
that being said let's talk about the first book that I want you to read
[54]
and that would be 'Psychology of money'
[57]
Psychology of money is an amazing book by Morgan Housel
[61]
it does an excellent job at explaining exactly how should you be thinking about money
[66]
in general or wealth in general
[68]
it talks about a lot of different cases
[71]
a lot of different people from around the complete last One century
[77]
right from 1930s all the way to right now in 2021
[81]
and it gives you a perspective that how people think about money
[86]
how do they think about making money through the stock market
[89]
and how has it helped them, how has it played against them
[93]
you will get a complete idea about all of these things
[96]
it has some excellent examples about compounding
[99]
about taking risk in the stock market, the problems with risk the rewards with risk
[105]
it will also be talking about trading
[107]
So, this is basically what I want you to read it's an excellent book
[110]
I would highly recommend you to go pick that book up
[112]
The next book that I want to talk about is going to be 'One Up On Wall Street' by Peter Lynch
[117]
Peter Lynch is actually a fund manager
[120]
who used to manage the Magellan fund from fidelity in the US
[124]
and that fund gave a crazy 30% returns every single year
[131]
and he was great at picking stocks that are going to do well in the future
[135]
they have value in them so that is what he shares in the complete book
[139]
he talks about the investing mindset that every other person should have
[142]
he also talks about the different kinds of stocks available
[145]
and how should you be thinking of choosing them
[147]
I think it's an excellent read go pick that books up it's not too big
[152]
it's just like around 3 or 4 hours if you listen to it on audiobook
[155]
highly recommended he talks about the differnt mistakes people make as a beginner investor
[159]
this book was published in 1990s I would say
[163]
but still 30 years down the lane the principle that he talks about are timeless
[169]
and I think you should totally take a look at that book.
[172]
Moving on to the third book that I would want you to look at is going to be
[175]
the 'Dhandho Investor' by Mohnish Pabrai.
[177]
Mohnish Pabrai talks about the dhandho mindset which basically means putting bets
[182]
in which if you lose you don't lose much and if you win, you win Big
[186]
he talks about the complete idea of value investing
[189]
exactly what Warren Buffet teaches
[190]
and I think that's an amazing book if you want to understand about how to pick these companies
[195]
how to pick these stocks that will do well in the long-term,
[199]
they might be undervalued at this point, so how do you find that value,
[203]
how do you find that margin of safety, how do you find your comparative advantages of these companies
[208]
and then you should try to invest in them.
[210]
Moving on the fourth book, just a little mention is going to be
[214]
'The Little Book of Common Sense Investing'
[216]
I think that is what you call it by John C. Bogle.
[219]
Now John C. Bogle takes a different approach he talks about the idea of passive investing
[224]
into Index funds right. He founded the company called the 'Vanguard Fund'
[229]
and vanguard fund is basically the biggest company that has Index funds
[233]
that people can invest into and basically talks
[235]
about why is it a good idea to invest in Index funds
[239]
So, these were the 4 books that I would advise you to look at
[241]
Moving on let's talk about how do you invest
[244]
a lot of might be thinking about what app should you be using
[247]
and how can you get started with investing
[249]
and that's where you can use the 'Groww App'
[251]
Groww is a 0 commission online investment platform
[254]
that you can use that is being used by over 10M+ users over 5K Mutual Funds
[260]
that you can select from over 40+ AMCs,
[263]
you can pay using UPI or debit card or you can also do NEFT
[267]
and this is a platform that I personally have been using from the September of 2020
[272]
and I think the UI is really good
[274]
you can properly see exactly what mutual funds are doing great
[277]
and you can compare them as well, all the transactions that you do on Groww app will be 128bit SSL encrypted
[284]
and so you can be assured of safety and security for whatever you are investing.
[288]
You can open a free Groww account by simplyputting in your
[290]
1)PAN card 2)your photo 3)your bank details 4)your address proof as well as the KYC
[294]
and you'll be good to go
[295]
and you can start investing using the Groww app.
[297]
Now just to give you an example of how the Groww app actually works
[300]
let's take a case of 'Nippon India' small cap fund
[303]
you can see the past performance that this particular fund has given
[306]
you can also look at how this is performing versus the other funds
[311]
in this particular category
[312]
you can also look at the asset under management, the expense ratio the exit load, the Pros and Cons, the fund managers
[318]
and all of these things are available at just one place for you to choose from
[323]
you can also do an SIP or you can do a lump-sum.
[326]
Groww has made it very easy for you to start investing into mutual funds
[329]
and I think that is a great platform that you can start investing for free
[333]
okay, so check the link in description to get started.
[335]
That being said, let's go on to the next part
[338]
and talk about the YouTube channels that I have been following a lot
[341]
to learn about investing in the last 1 or 2 years
[344]
the whole finance niche the personal finance and investing niche in YouTube has blown up like crazy
[351]
the people that I look up to the most are first of all Graham Stephen,
[355]
he is situated in the US and he talks about passive investing
[359]
and just the everyday news that goes on in the finance niche
[363]
and how is it going to effect the average investor
[365]
and then I also look up to Rachna Ranade she has an amazing YouTube channel
[369]
in which the videos she makes are very simple for you to understand
[373]
and she does an excellent job of explaining everything in detail
[376]
so that you can become a better investor.
[378]
Another youtuber that you can also look up to is going to be Pranjal Kamra
[381]
he does an excellent job of explaining everything in detail just like Rachna Ranade
[384]
and the best part about his videos that I find it to be really energetic
[388]
and does an excellent job of explaining everything in proper depth!.
[392]
One more YouTube channel that you can take a look at is going to be newmoney
[395]
which is run by Brandon who is from Australia
[398]
and he just talks about that what is it that the super investors of the world are buying right now
[405]
why are they doing it and he does an in-depth analysis
[408]
of what the value investing mindset is of people
[411]
like Charlie Munger and Warren Buffet and I think that is a great channel that you can look at.
[416]
Then, of course we have Ankur Warikoo
[418]
he does an excellent job of explaining everything in a very simplistic manner
[421]
so that you are able to understand everything properly
[424]
I was also watching some videos from Shashank Udupa
[426]
and those are also really good that you can take a look at
[429]
then of course if you are interested
[431]
you can also take a look at the Groww YouTube channel as well
[433]
they make a lot of videos every single day
[435]
just talking about what's happening in the market right now.
[437]
YouTube is a great place for you to learn about investing
[441]
just make sure that you follow the right people and you will become a better investor overall.
[446]
Let's move on to the next part and this is going to be websites that I want you to look at if you want to learn about investing
[452]
Number 1 would obviously be 'Zerodha Varsity'
[456]
that is what you can use to read through all the topics of investing.
[461]
All the terminologies that you see about the stock market
[464]
you can learn about them using the Zerodha Varsity
[467]
you can simply search on google zerodha varsity and you will get their articles they are both in Hindi as well as in English
[473]
so that makes it very easy for you to understand all the concepts.
[476]
One more website that I have been using a lot is going to be investopedia,
[481]
investopedia is basically like the dictionary of investing,
[484]
so one time I was watching this movie called 'The Big Shot' in which
[489]
they were talking about something called a CDO and Credit default swaps
[493]
so I didn't know what that really means so I just went on to investopedia
[498]
and I just learn about CDOs, they also have a video that explain what CDOs are, so that makes a lot easier for you to understand
[505]
all the terminologies that you are struggling with in the investing space.
[509]
If you want to know the day-to-day news of what is happening in business in India
[513]
and how is it going to impact the stock market
[515]
you can take a look at 'moneycontrol'
[518]
that is a great platform that I go to every once in a while
[521]
I just look at the news using the moneycontrol website
[523]
so that is also something that you can have a look at. So that is what I would say.
[527]
Let's move on to next part and that's going to be podcasts
[531]
that you should be listening to
[532]
and before that I just want to ask you to hit the like button and subscribe to the channel
[536]
if you are still watching this video till this point
[539]
that is amazing that means you want to become a better investor
[542]
that means you are serious about investing
[545]
so please do that and share this video with your friends as well.
[548]
Now let's talk about the podcasts
[550]
so the first podcast that I like to listen to is called 'The Investors Podcast'
[555]
T-I-P you call it and over there they basically invite a lot of guests
[559]
a lot of people that are running some hedge funds and all
[562]
and they try to ask them questions about the current economy
[565]
how is it progressing what are their thoughts on that and you can take a look at that if you are interested.
[569]
One more podcast that I would recommend to is going to be 'Invest like the Best'
[574]
and this again is going to be similar to the investors podcast
[578]
but this is basically how you learn about investing using podcasts.
[581]
Alright, so this is what I would say.
[583]
Moving on to the next part and this is going to be the free courses
[588]
that you can take to learn about finance in general.
[591]
Now the first free course that you can take is from Coursera, it is called 'Finance for Everyone'
[597]
it is more of a specialisation
[599]
to keep you up to date with all the different topics
[601]
right like what is debt, what is capital, how does a business operate
[606]
what are the different players in business you have shareholders you have employees
[610]
you have people who actually run the business
[612]
all of that you will get to know from that particular specialization
[616]
you can audit it for free it's completely free of cost for you
[620]
to look at the videos atleast.
[622]
One more course that I would want you to look at is going to be
[625]
this thing called 'Principles' by Ray Dalio it is on YouTube
[628]
it's like an animated series, I think about 30 minutes each
[633]
and it goes into the depth of how does the economy actually work
[637]
how does the economic machine actually work
[639]
and all of this is explained by Ray Dalio who is the billionaire investor
[643]
and he has a huge hedge fund called as the bridgewater associates in the US, obviously
[648]
Alright, that's pretty much it, I hope you go to learn something from this video
[651]
let me know in the comment section what are your thoughts about this
[654]
and I would love to hear from you what other videos should I be making
[657]
I am super excited about this, you can also subscribe to my channel.
[660]
In the future I'll be making a lot of different videos
[663]
about investing, so please do that
[665]
check out the Groww App if you are interested to start investing
[667]
the link to that will be in the description
[670]
