[1]
Hey man!
[2]
Look what I bought...
[3]
A friend of mine, a real „OG“, says it's going „TO THE MOON“.
[9]
Wait, you... you bought Dogecoin?
[13]
At an ALL TIME HIGH?
[15]
After it went 10x?
[17]
Next time, please, just throw your money in the trash!
[21]
Whatever man, this time it's different and I'm „HODLing“.
[26]
It's going to 1k...
[29]
At least...
[31]
$1000 Dogecoin?
[34]
Do you even...
[36]
That kind of a market cap...
[40]
You're getting „REKT“.
[42]
Why are you so „BEARISH“?
[43]
Elon tweeted that he's gonna bring Doge to Mars.
[46]
To actual Mars!
[49]
It ain't „WHEN LAMBO“ anymore, it's „WHEN TESLA“.
[53]
Listen... it's called „FOMO“.
[55]
It'll probably „DUMP“ soon enough, the chart is full of „PUMP&DUMPS“, and no,
[59]
those are not „CORRECTIONS“.
[60]
You should just be „STACKING SATS“ instead.
[63]
Or maybe... you're just spreading „FUD“...
[66]
Okay, man, just don't invest more than you can afford to lose...
[69]
I've got „BAGS“ so big I'm almost a „WHALE“ now.
[74]
Oh...
[76]
Well...
[78]
Good luck with your „gains“.
[80]
Hi, Ante here!
[81]
If you're new to the crypto space, chances are you didn't quite catch some of the lingo
[85]
in this conversation.
[87]
And if that's the case, it changes today as I bring you explanations of most frequently
[92]
used Crypto Slang out there.
[93]
Let's begin with everybody's favorite thing...
[96]
All-Time High, abbreviated ATH.
[99]
Although not really used in the crypto space exclusively, it indicates the moment when
[104]
an asset reaches its highest price point ever.
[107]
So, fairly straightforward.
[108]
Now, very closely related to all-time high is the phrase „To the Moon“ which represents
[113]
an extremely bullish movement in an asset.
[116]
It can also be used in different forms, like for example „Bitcoin is mooning“
[120]
Examples of that can be found all over the place and it usually follows a period of high
[125]
exuberance in the markets.
[127]
Next, another important term everybody should be aware of is the one we've just mentioned,
[132]
and that is „bullish“.
[133]
It also comes with its counterpart - „bearish“.
[136]
Bullish and bearish describe market sentiment at any given moment and they're derived from
[142]
Bull and Bear markets.
[143]
Bull market represents market or economy conditions which are generally favorable, whereas bear
[149]
market represents the opposite.
[150]
So, when we say that something's bullish, we want to say that the prices are expected
[155]
to rise in the future, or if we say that we are bearish on something else, that means
[160]
that we think they'll drop.
[162]
Arguably my favorite one is „HODL“.
[165]
This misspelled word is actually an abbreviation for „Hold On for Dear Life“.
[169]
It's been in use ever since a trader used it on a forum post in 2013.
[174]
In fact, that first use was a simple typo by a drunken trader, basically explaining how buying and holding BTC
[181]
outperforms trading. And even though it is a widely accepted definition today,
[187]
it was only later given the "Hold On for Dear Life" addition.
[190]
People use it during harsh market movements as some sort of mantra that helps them endure
[195]
gut wrenching bear markets, but also it sometimes describes a never-sell mentality even during
[201]
extreme bull markets.
[203]
Nevertheless, always make sure to take at least some profits along the way.
[207]
Moving on...
[208]
Getting „REKT“ means to suffer losses from a failed investment.
[212]
It's derived from the word „wrecked“, which is used in gaming when someone gets
[216]
annihilated during a game.
[218]
Losing money is unpleasant however you put it, but especially so in the crypto space,
[222]
where altcoins tend to experience dumps of even 90+% during bear markets.
[228]
So, keep in mind to manage your risk accordingly.
[231]
That brings me to another pair which is „Pump&Dump“.
[234]
"Pump" is, same as "To the Moon", an extremely bullish movement,
[238]
whereas "Dump" is an extremely bearish one.
[241]
But they can also be used in combination, or "Pump&Dump", which is used when a certain
[245]
coin pumps, but immediately afterwards dumps to around the same level.
[250]
Do you know any such coins?
[253]
And "Corrections" are slight drops in the market value of an asset after a pump, so not every
[258]
pump is followed by a dump.
[260]
„Whales“ are people or institutions that hold a large amount of coins or tokens of a
[265]
certain cryptocrrency, which makes them a powerful entity as they are able to manipulate
[270]
its market value by selling and buying and thus take advantage of the market's reaction.
[276]
In case of Bitcoin, a person holding over 1000 BTC is considered a whale.
[281]
One of the most dangerous emotions to encounter while trading or investing is „FOMO“,
[287]
which means "Fear Of Missing Out.
[289]
In most cases, it occurs when a certain coin or an asset pumps, and then, one starts to
[295]
invest way too agressively in order to not miss out on the opportunity, but the reality
[300]
is that the opportunity has probably already passed, it's just too difficult to realize that.
[306]
Many, and probably all new investors, have at some point experienced FOMO and, because
[310]
of it, lost some money.
[312]
But the good thing is that the FOMO effect tapers off with experience.
[316]
Next in line is „FUD“, meaning "Fear-Uncertainty-and-Doubt".
[321]
It's used in the crypto space to discredit the intentional spread of misinformation.
[326]
So, when someone is saying that a coin is going to zero based on something someone else
[331]
tweeted last month, which has no base in facts whatsoever, we say that they're spreading FUD.
[337]
And a person spreading FUD is a "FUDder" or a "FUDster".
[341]
„Stacking sats“ simply means acquiring more bitcoin, or its division – satoshis,
[348]
or sats for short.
[349]
Another funny one is „When Lambo“, which is a substitute for „when are we going to
[354]
get rich“.
[355]
In the past, a Lamborghini has been a crypto millionaire's trademark, so when you get some
[360]
real cash out of the crypto space, you should always buy a Lambo first...
[365]
Just kidding, you should be wiser with your investiments, but if you do have extra money,
[369]
what the heck...
[370]
However, you might even consider a Tesla, because ever since Tesla bought Bitcoin back
[374]
in February of 2021., that phrase started to change to - you guessed it: „When Tesla“.
[380]
And a few quick ones to wrap it up: holding „Bags“ means owning some coins or tokens
[386]
of a certain cryptocurrency, and if you do, that makes you a „Bagholder“.
[391]
Making „Gains“ means that your investment is turning some profits, and if you are an
[395]
„OG“, you probably already have a Lambo, as it means you are an "Original Gangsta", and
[401]
that you've entered the space a long time ago.
[404]
Basically, if you've gone through an entire Bitcoin 4-year cycle, you're officially an OG.
[409]
Now that we've covered that, feel free to watch the intro again, listen to it with
[413]
a new pair of ears and see what you make of it.
[416]
Thanks for watching and see you in the Next Block.
