low on this one for a bit but it's like

escalated already now and there's gonna

be updates so we might as well talk

about this now so anyways capcom's like

calling all tournament organizers check

out our new community license agreement

for running events with street fighter v

it covers everything you need to know in

one easy reference space right let me go

over the license agreement so you guys

know so this is for tournaments that use
[40]
street fighter 5 and obviously in the
[42]
future it will be for using street
[45]
fighter 6 as well you guys know that
[47]
street fighter is very esports
[50]
and capcom intended this to be
[52]
streamlined so people that need to run
[54]
tournaments using street fighter 5 can
[56]
easily you know sign this thing and then
[59]
it's yeah it's just more streamlined in
[60]
general so there's about three big big
[64]
things that i'll try to summarize for
[66]
you guys on this one and the first one

is uh right at the beginning in this all

cap letters it's perfect

and it says uh by clicking the accept
[75]
button which is you know at the very
[77]
bottom when you uh submit that your
[79]
tournament you're running uses the game

you agree that this agreement is

enforceable like any written contract

signed by you and capcom if you do not

agree to this agreement do not use the
[91]
street fighter 5 series the game for
[94]
organizing or hosting a tournament so

this is the big big first red flag

because capcom is saying if you do not

agree

then you can't use our game for your
[107]
tournaments period like right off the
[110]
bat it's already bad at the very
[113]
beginning because obviously it wasn't

like this before

so it's like you agree to this or not

there's like no leeway and this is like

your typical esports contract you know

it's really funny too because it's like

when capcom i'm going to read this to

you guys and explain everything that's

going on in this but it's really funny

because it's like capcom asked advice

from nintendo or something you know you

know nintendo has gotten a lot of bad

press lately with removing smash

brothers completely from evil you know

the nintendo fans have eaten a lot of

crap from them and they just that was

just like the final nail on the coffin

but now like capcom after just getting

over bad press from the street fighter 6

logo you know people finally started

forgetting about the street fighter 6

logo and then now this happened right

was like yo nintendo you got any advice

on you know how to piss people off

it's like they took this template from

some big esports like game like like all

the big esports games have these kind of

contracts right for their tournaments

but like it looks like they took it from

the biggest ones you know like riot

games or something you know something

ridiculous

and uh it just doesn't translate well

for street fighter which you know we'll

go over in a bit here so let me go over

the next big red flag for you guys on

this has to do with how much money your

event is gonna make okay so we see

qualification criteria and it says uh

the prize pool for the event must be set
[207]
and clearly disclosed in advance of the
[209]
event in the event in the event rules of
[212]
the event and it says it must be under 2
[215]
000 usd per event
[218]
the total prize pool within any given 12
[221]
month period must be under 10 000 so
[224]
that's if you have multiple terms a year
[227]
and the sponsorship contributions must
[229]
be under five thousand dollars
[231]
and the total sponsorship contributions
[233]
for the year should be under twenty
[235]
thousand dollars now if you guys haven't

noticed

this number is very low okay

it's very easy for some of these terms

to hit these numbers and then what

happens if you go over these numbers

well this is where it gets really crazy

so it says if your event is beyond the
[252]
scope of the criteria set forth above

you'll need to apply for an esports
[257]
license according to section nine

tournament does not meet the rules and

restrictions for a community license you

so they don't even disclose how much it

costs right

and i would imagine that the esports

license for their tournament would be uh

quite a bit because word on the street

and this is just only inside information

i don't actually you know talk to any

ttls but word on the street is that a
[292]
lot of the teos that run the big
[294]
tournaments
[295]
that are definitely going to go above
[297]
these numbers are already saying that
[299]
it's the esports license it's not even
[301]
worth it to have street fighter they
[304]
might as well just remove the game from
[305]
the tournament and then not deal with it

so now you're kind of in this big pickle

where you're one or the other right so

that's already a massive massive problem

uh now the third big big one let me find

so the third big red flag is the license

grant grant back here so it says

you grant capcom a non-exclusive

irrevocable royalty-free license to use

distribute and stream match footage and

any creative derivative works of match

footage for capcom's promotional
[338]
purposes
[340]
and so what they're saying is that

capcom when you run a tournament
[344]
whatever you show on your stream or
[345]
whatever you show off
[347]
catcom has rights to use all that
[349]
footage all of it and that is already
[352]
that's another big one right because

tournament organizers you know they pay
[355]
all this extra money for this high
[357]
production event they're obviously going
[359]
to want to make some revenue off that
[361]
footage that they're recording but
[363]
capcom can also use that footage as well

you can kind of look at this in two ways

though because there are some term

organizers that are like well this is

good for me if you're smaller because

then

as long as there's overlays on your
[377]
screen advertising your event this can
[379]
help promote your event as well if

capcom posted on their main page but for

the big channels i don't know it goes

both ways but then on top of that upon

receipt of capcom's written notice and

it's so discretion you must remove match
[392]
footage from streaming platforms and
[393]
remove game assets specified and written
[395]
notice so they're basically saying that

if capcom wants to though they have the
[400]
right to tell you to get rid of all the
[402]
footage as well so in other words catcom

has complete control

over all the footage basically

they can use it for themselves and they
[409]
can tell you not to use it pretty crazy

spectators to participate in an event

you can't charge spectator fees

this is another really huge one and it's

sort of ambiguous too because this

houses work for like online tournaments

do they mean if they come to the venue

i'd still consider a spectator if

they're playing on the free stations

this needs to be elaborated for sure and

this is another thing that will hurt

tournament organizers

for gaining revenue for hosting these
[458]
events that cost a lot of money
[460]
and the second one i miss is the
[462]
prohibited sponsors partners in
[464]
advertising prohibited activities
[467]
and it says your event cannot be
[468]
sponsored by companies that sell or
[470]
promote
[472]
and your event cannot be involved with
[474]
any products or services

let me just skip all this the big thing

is the vaping

the alcoholic beverages so not have any

alcoholic beverages is another big one

because there are tournaments that are

being held at bars

i mean evil's in vegas there's a lot of

alcohol around so this is just yet

another problem and another issue when

it comes to this kind of copy paste

esports contract

where you really have to pay attention

to the game and the tournaments and the

history of fighting games and really

look at does this contract represent

that every game is different and this is

just another obvious issue i don't know

man like capcom had something good going

with they have a good relationship with

the tournament organizers because this

stuff is supposed to help tournament

organizers not just capcom putting their

foot down and being like yo look we're

gonna change some rules here okay these

tournaments there's too much bad stuff

going on and we need to make sure these

tournaments are run right it's not like

that it's supposed to be streamlined and

friendly really

so yeah now we have a street fighter 5

community code of conduct

so obviously they're going to want to

save environment but some of these are

kind of vague and kind of scary right so

uh prohibited behavior includes but it's

not limited to the following excessive

swearing and screaming or threats i mean

if the guy pops off and swears twice and

the screaming i mean everyone's
[562]
screaming all the time at tournaments

you know and harassment they do

harassment's another vague one too

because once again if you pop off in

somebody's face or the other one gets a

little too hype it could be deemed as

harassment it's kind of scary right

because obviously we want our

environments to be as safe as possible

because you know bad stuff does happen

every now and again on tournaments and i

really like these rules on like you know

the cheating the collusion especially is

really annoying there's a lot of weird

stuff like the lane or slowly

manipulating gameplay and intentionally

interrupting network

connectivity someone pulls the internet

cord

they actually do define harassment down

here there is one good thing about this

and it says the determination of whether

a violation of this code economy has

occurred will be made by you

based upon the available facts okay so

this is

really good because this means it's not

up to capcom what they deem as

harassment it's up to the tournament

tournament organizer thank goodness

third-party event style guide so they

give us examples on how to use the

branding because there's a lot of rules

here where they really don't want people

to think that the tournament is ran by

capcom so right here restrictions

um you cannot promote your event in a

way that suggests that your event is

endorsed by or affiliated with capcom or

licensors in any manner you cannot use

catcom's company logos or trademarks to

promote your event furthermore you must

include the following statement in a

prominent place on your event website

and they have you have to say on your
[655]
website this event is not affiliated

with or

it's really funny it's like you must do

we say and you're not gonna get any help

from us and we're gonna take no

responsibility you know it's really

ridiculous is it harassment if i tea bag

someone said let me go back to this

so like says physical or cyber violence

intentionally delaying or slowing or

wasn't communicated well with the other

entire capcom pro tour is very community

based right it's very community based

like capcom doesn't run the tournaments

in the cpt you know the tournament

organizers do and if the turn organizers

pull street fighter out they can't have

a cpt right and esports basically saves

street fighter 5. if we didn't get to

see our favorite players playing on the

stream all the time then you know that

would have really really hurt the game

you know what i'm saying so all the

people that stop playing the game they

at least still watch the game so

and capcom has the right to do this they

have complete rights to do this it's

their game

and basically capcom gets complete

control over how your tournament is ran

presented and they also get control of

your content but they also take zero

responsibility and without having any

affiliation and it looks like there's no

benefit to this

like capcom sending the tournament money

to help them out right or getting you

know equipment or a team or you know

some kind of benefit

other than the fact that if your term is

a cpt then pro players have to go there

but what about for the all this really

hurts the smaller tournaments i think it

really does

and uh it just yeah it just doesn't seem

friendly that's the best if i can put it

it just benefits capcom in every single

way possible without benefiting the the

turn organizers and

seriously what does this mean for street

fighter 6 man

you know like if they're already pulling

out there obviously this is gonna

continue with street fighter six and

obviously street price is gonna be a

huge esports game that can rack in some

major major numbers of people and like

that's these turn organizers man dude if

you guys tried running a tournament like

it's hell dude i've helped running a

tournament before and it's it's a

nightmare bro an absolute nightmare and

to deal with this on top of that i would

see attorney organizers just not having

to deal with the headaches seriously

capcom would be shooting themselves

right in the foot this would be like an

absolute disaster anyways uh the story

so then capcom posted this uh today

saying yesterday we published the new

street fighter 5 community license

agreement for both the americas our aim

was to make running an event with street

fighter 5 easier when touring organizers

have contacted calcum while running the

community events with street fighter 5

in the past the approval process has
[964]
always taken a lot of time we want to
[966]
make the rules clear and to allow for
[968]
much faster approvals we're also keen to
[970]
build tighter relationships with teos
[972]
and to encourage safe spaces to play
[974]
street fighter 5 thank you to everyone

who has sent us feedback thus far on the

new agreement and it says we are

reviewing this feedback with the wider

capcom team and we'll follow with more
