Ever since he first started running for president...
[2]
50 years ago, I'm gonna say,
[4]
Donald Trump has refused to show the public his tax returns.
[8]
And now we might finally know why.
[11]
NEWSWOMAN: Breaking news-- tax bombshell.
[13]
The New York Times gets its hands
[14]
on President Trump's taxes,
[16]
showing staggering business losses,
[18]
crushing personal debt,
[20]
and a tax bill that's just a fraction
[22]
of what most hardworking Americans have to pay.
[25]
This morning, The New York Times reporting
[27]
that President Trump paid just $750 in federal income taxes
[30]
the year he won the White House,
[32]
and the same amount his first year in office.
[35]
On top of that, the paper says that of the 18 years
[38]
they examined, he paid no federal income tax
[40]
in 11 of them.
[42]
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on, hold on.
[44]
The president of the country almost never pays taxes?
[47]
And when he does, he only pays $750?
[52]
Yo, that shit pisses me off.
[53]
Because Trump is always out there like,
[55]
"We're building back our military..."
[58]
"We"? No, mother (bleep),
[60]
we're building back the military.
[62]
You didn't pay for shit.
[63]
If you didn't chip in,
[64]
you don't get to put your name on the card.
[66]
And just for those keeping score,
[68]
Trump paid $750 in taxes
[70]
and $130,000 to a porn star.
[73]
Which means if the IRS wants to get money from Trump,
[76]
you guys know what you gotta do.
[78]
And this story didn't just expose
[80]
how little Trump has paid in taxes over the years,
[82]
it also revealed some of the accounting tricks
[85]
that he used to do it.
[86]
NEWSWOMAN: The paper also accuses the president
[88]
and his companies of claiming questionable deductions.
[90]
NEWSMAN: The article reveals that among the write-offs
[93]
Trump has taken over the years
[95]
are more than $70,000 for haircuts
[97]
while on The Apprentice,
[99]
nearly $96,000 paid
[100]
for Ivanka Trump's favorite hair and makeup artist,
[102]
and approximately $2 million
[104]
for Trump and Donald Trump Jr.'s legal defense
[107]
for the Russia inquiry.
[108]
NEWSWOMAN: He also wrote off more than $109,000
[111]
for linens and silverware,
[112]
and nearly $200,000 for landscaping at Mar-a-Lago.
[116]
NEWSMAN: Trump reportedly racked up $26 million
[119]
in "unexplained consulting fees."
[121]
The Times finding that Ivanka Trump was the recipient
[124]
of some of those payments, which would raise flags,
[127]
because she was also an employee of the Trump organization.
[130]
Okay, first of all, you're not supposed to pay an employee
[134]
a consulting fee.
[135]
But also, for Trump, there's a cruel irony
[137]
that the one payment to a woman
[139]
that might actually get him in legal trouble
[141]
was to the one woman he can't sleep with.
[144]
And the craziest thing to me
[145]
is that he took a $70,000 deduction
[148]
on his hair.
[150]
Because to me, now it looks like two crimes
[152]
might have been committed here.
[154]
One is Trump's tax evasion,
[155]
and two is whoever swindled Trump
[158]
into paying $70,000 for what they did to him.
[161]
On the other hand, though, $70,000 for Trump's hair
[164]
might actually make sense,
[165]
because whoever did that
[167]
needed to bend the law of physics.
[169]
And I'm pretty sure that ain't cheap.
[170]
And if you ask me, the worst part of the story
[173]
for Donald Trump isn't that he got out of paying taxes,
[175]
because, I mean, let's be honest,
[177]
lots of billionaires do that.
[179]
I mean, billionaires paying their fair share of taxes
[181]
is like someone going to a pumpkin patch
[183]
and not Instagramming it.
[184]
It doesn't happen.
[186]
But what this story exposes
[187]
isn't just that Trump is bad at paying taxes,
[189]
it's that he's even worse at business.
[192]
NEWSWOMAN: The investigation paints the picture
[194]
of a businessman whose empire is seriously struggling.
[198]
According to The Times,
[199]
most of the president's core businesses,
[201]
including his golf courses and hotel
[203]
just blocks from the White House,
[204]
report losing millions, if not tens of millions,
[207]
year after year.
[209]
The Times says documents show the president reported
[211]
more than $47 million in losses in 2018 alone,
[215]
and he faces a personal debt totaling $421 million,
[219]
money that could come due while he's in office
[222]
if he's elected to a second term.
[224]
Okay, can I just say, if you decided
[227]
to lend $400 million to Donald Trump,
[229]
that's on you.
[231]
Yeah. I hope he doesn't pay you back,
[233]
'cause you are the one person on earth worse with money
[235]
than he is.
[237]
But just take a second to think about what all this means.
[239]
If Donald Trump does win a second term,
[242]
his creditors will come asking for their $400 million
[245]
while he is still president.
[247]
And I don't know about you, but that has me worried.
[250]
Because I don't want the president's decisions
[251]
for the country getting influenced
[253]
by his deep financial troubles.
[255]
And also, 'cause there's a good chance
[257]
that Trump is gonna pay off his debt
[259]
by selling off American treasures.
[261]
How much will you guys give me for the Grand Canyon?
[263]
It's a priceless testament to nature's majesty.
[267]
I'll let you have it for 400 bucks.
[269]
$350. Deal.
[271]
I got to say, guys, after reading this story
[274]
in The New York Times and learning this about Trump,
[277]
everything makes so much sense now.
[281]
Like, this tax story is the Rosetta Stone
[283]
that helps us figure everything out.
[285]
Trump doesn't actually want to be president.
[288]
He just really needs that Secret Service protection.
[291]
Shit, if I had $400 million in loans coming due,
[293]
I'd also be trying to cancel the election.
[295]
It also explains why Melania isn't leaving Trump.
[298]
I mean, if she divorces him,
[299]
she gets half of the $400 million in debt.
[302]
I also now get why Trump was rooting
[304]
for Bernie Sanders so hard.
[305]
He wanted him to win
[307]
so that the government would bail him out.
[309]
I mean, it all makes sense now, people.
[310]
It even explains why Trump has been destroying the post office.
[314]
Good luck collecting your money when you can't mail him a bill.
[318]
Either way, people,
[319]
America's president is in big trouble.
[321]
He has a mountain of debt, and his businesses are failing,
[325]
which is why Africans have come together
[327]
to try and help out those most in need.
[331]
Hello.
[333]
I am here with a message for my fellow Africans.
[337]
Over the years, America has given us so much help.
[340]
But now there is an American
[343]
who needs our help.
[346]
The president of the United States
[348]
is in deep debt.
[350]
He is so poor,
[351]
he has to eat out of buckets.
[355]
He cannot afford to educate his children,
[357]
and now they are so stupid.
[361]
And every day, he struggles to drink water.
[365]
But for just the price of a cup of coffee a day,
[369]
you can help the president go from being in enormous debt
[372]
to being in just a lot of debt.
[375]
And if you donate today,
[377]
you will get a personal letter
[380]
from the president you help.
[382]
But please hurry.
[384]
He is so malnourished,
[386]
he has begun to slur his words.
[388]
(slurring): God bless the United States.
[391]
Thank you very much.
[392]
Remember, you can help
[394]
an American president in need.
[397]
Because without your help,
[399]
he could soon be living in a shithole.
