[8]
Today's review is the Power AirFryer Oven.
[11]
The total price was $159.99 20% coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond.
[16]
Took $32 off so I paid $138.55 for the Power AirFryer Oven.
[22]
It's gonna take me a bit to get this one tested
[24]
out thoroughly. Probably gonna be a two-parter.
[26]
So, I probably do one part as a first look.
[29]
Second part, I'll do some more fine-tuning,
[31]
some additional tests,
[32]
mainly based on reader comments.
[34]
So when I get home, crack this open, and get started.
[38]
I'm enjoying this beautiful late October day here
[41]
in Las Vegas, and I just wrapped up the filming
[43]
for my Power AirFryer Oven review.
[47]
It's gonna be a long video. And, I know some people
[49]
don't mind long videos, but I still give you a menu
[52]
in the description so you can skip around if you don't want
[54]
to watch everything.
[55]
But, now it's time to get started with my first look review
[58]
of the Power AirFryer Oven. Check it out.
[62]
All right. On top, we've got looks like some
[66]
recipe guides and instructions.
[73]
Look at this big boy.
[75]
So, now I got properly unboxed here are the entire contents.
[78]
It's like quite a bit of stuff.
[80]
Do my best to get through as much as I can,
[82]
so we're gonna get started.
[83]
Right now, I'm headed to the grocery store.
[85]
I already decided my first two recipes are going to be
[87]
fried chicken and the Italian croutons
[89]
which is in the recipe guide. I figure I'll start there,
[92]
and then I'll see what I feel like making next.
[94]
I also want to try the rotisserie, so I'll probably
[95]
pick up some sausage
[97]
and do that, because that's shown in the commercial.
[100]
So, it's gonna be a long process. It might take me
[103]
a couple of days to get through all this.
[104]
I'll do my best to squeeze in as much as I can
[106]
on this first part review of the AirFryer Oven.
[110]
Most air fryers I've seen have a basket where you put
[112]
the contents in there, you slide it in, and it heats that way.
[115]
The Power AirFryer Oven is a little bit different,
[118]
and then it has racks and a rotisserie. So,
[121]
the way the food is in contact with the actual appliance
[124]
is a little bit different.
[126]
It actually functions more like an oven
[128]
than the other air fryers that I've seen.
[130]
First up is the Italian croutons recipe.
[133]
Calls for a loaf of Italian bread cut into half-inch cubes.
[137]
Salt, pepper, oregano, and bread cut to squares.
[141]
Oops.
[142]
Uh oh.
[146]
Maybe I'll just eat that one.
[147]
Now, I spread the cubes on the airflow racks.
[153]
Okay. I got two racks full of these cubes.
[155]
Now, let's stick it in there, start it up.
[160]
You're gonna line up with these
[162]
slots here for your racks, and up there is where all the heat
[165]
comes from.
[168]
Okay, we've got two of them in there.
[173]
Now, it says temperature to 350.
[177]
Timer for eight minutes.
[180]
And, here we go.
[181]
It seems pretty easy so far. I'll come back in eight minutes,
[185]
and then we'll see how it looks.
[186]
It's like it's got about two minutes left.
[189]
You could actually turn a light on there if you want.
[194]
It's kind of nice.
[195]
There is a sound to it. It's not too loud.
[199]
But, you can hear that.
[207]
It says 'Off'
[209]
and
[211]
sounds like it's still going. There it goes.
[214]
Oh, they're crisp.
[216]
Oh, these feel like croutons to me.
[218]
I think the first test was a success.
[221]
Let's pull the second one out.
[226]
And, down here is the drip pan where crumbs and oils
[229]
will drip down there. You can just clean that up.
[230]
But, yeah. These, these look good.
[233]
First test looking good.
[235]
Next up, some fried chicken.
[238]
(munching sound)
[241]
Crunchy, tasty, good actually. Better than average.
[243]
The Power AirFryer Oven is off to a good start.
[248]
Another one.
[249]
All right. I've got my chicken soaking on the buttermilk,
[253]
and next up is my fried chicken recipe.
[255]
Instead of doing the mix from scratch, I'm just gonna use
[258]
this Seasoned Flour that Chris Cooking channel recommended
[260]
to me in the previous review. It's a little bit faster for me.
[262]
All right. So, I've got a couple racks sitting out here.
[265]
I'm gonna soak it in the mix, put it on the racks,
[267]
and stick it in there.
[268]
(techno music)
[279]
All right. We got my three trays of chicken.
[281]
Hopefully they're not too thick. I was wondering
[282]
if that might be,
[283]
the thickness might be a problem.
[285]
All right. First rack on the bottom.
[291]
Oh.
[292]
The last rack. Okay. It all fit.
[295]
Woohoo!
[297]
I can wash that off.
[298]
I'm surprised it all fit, and that's awesome. All right.
[302]
Now, it says to press the chicken button.
[306]
That looks like chicken to me.
[308]
And, then the power button.
[310]
40 minutes? This is after 10 minutes
[313]
to rotate the racks.
[316]
Okay. It's been 10 minutes. I'm going to rotate the racks.
[319]
See it turns off when you open it up.
[326]
Ouch! That was hot.
[330]
See what happen as we closes it.
[333]
Starts up again. Now, it doesn't say to rotate it another time
[337]
but I'm assuming you rotate it every 10 minutes.
[339]
Maybe not.
[340]
So, while the fried chicken is still going,
[343]
I was going to plan on a few things on here. You have the,
[346]
the front panel here. You have french fries,
[348]
steaks, fish, shrimp,
[351]
chicken which I'm doing right now,
[353]
baking, rotisserie, and dehydrator.
[356]
You can adjust the temperature over here and adjust
[360]
the time right there. It's actually very simple to use.
[363]
There's also a light right there.
[365]
One thing I was thinking about also is say you've got
[367]
something in the oven already or it's a hot day,
[369]
you don't want to run your oven,
[370]
this would be a good second option to be cooking food
[373]
while the oven is taken. So, I think that's pretty good.
[376]
Also, they do give you a pretty good selection
[379]
of manuals here.
[380]
They have a recipe guide here.
[384]
They have a separate one for dehydrating.
[388]
And, they've got a third one for rotisserie,
[390]
so they're really pretty complete
[392]
as far as that goes. I'm pretty happy with
[395]
the materials included.
[396]
My first test, the croutons, did well.
[399]
Fried chicken
[401]
is in, the chicken is in the oven.
[403]
I was getting the rotisserie prepared for my next dish,
[405]
and I saw all these skewers here,
[408]
but I was looking for that. I was like, where is it,
[409]
where is it?
[411]
Aha. Got to be careful. Don't throw that away
[413]
until you check the back.
[414]
So, I was rotating these and watch what happens.
[417]
See, I put the bottom two up there,
[419]
I went to put this one below but these drumsticks
[421]
are too tall, and I can't get it in the slot,
[424]
so I'm gonna have to put it back on the top.
[426]
The other thing I noticed is when I put my hand down
[428]
to put the bottom tray, that's hot. I actually almost
[430]
burnt my hands, so you have to be careful.
[433]
And, hopefully that's not too hard to clean up.
[436]
Hopefully.
[437]
Okay. It's been 40 minutes.
[439]
I'm gonna take all three racks out.
[442]
Let's see how they look.
[445]
Oh no! Oh no!
[450]
Okay. There's a big difference between this top rack
[452]
and this one.
[454]
The problem is it, when I reach to get this rack,
[456]
I'll burn my hands in the glass 'cause it's hot.
[460]
Sorry chicken.
[463]
I'll get you in a minute.
[465]
Okay. So, here's what we got. This one was moved
[467]
to the top rack after 10 minutes.
[469]
And, these two don't look as done.
[472]
You'll see some of this mix hasn't completely
[475]
soaked in. I think I need to spray that.
[477]
Okay. These, these are, these are done.
[481]
These don't look crispy enough.
[486]
I mean that's technically done.
[488]
I'm gonna put these in but a little bit longer,
[489]
see if they can crisp up, and these I guess we're done.
[491]
I'm gonna spray this also with some olive oil
[493]
to get that mixed so that's it's not in that powdery form.
[496]
I'm winging it here guys. This wasn't any instructions.
[499]
But, looks like the top rack definitely cooks faster
[501]
than the other two.
[502]
Oh, that's gonna be fun.
[503]
I'm just gonna, I'm gonna put like five minutes.
[510]
We'll see.
[511]
These are supposedly done. I don't like that mix being
[515]
like that, but
[516]
what are you supposed to do, right?
[517]
Infamouse taste test.
[519]
(munching sound)
[524]
Oh hot!
[524]
I had to throw the chicken on the window stone
[527]
because it burned my hand.
[529]
(munching sound)
[532]
I say I take them on good.
[538]
Well, you know it's not as crispy as these.
[541]
It shows that they're done.
[543]
They're just not as crispy as those, and I'm gonna have
[545]
to clean that up. That looks fun.
[546]
Well, I mean it says done. It's not-
[549]
The two lower ones aren't as crispy as that top one
[552]
which came out really nice.
[553]
I could put them in there to try to crisp them up,
[556]
but then they're gonna get overdone.
[558]
I guess I might need to rotate them more often than that
[561]
next time.
[562]
And, now this
[564]
does not look fun.
[565]
All right. Now, for the fun part. I gotta clean these off.
[568]
I'm gonna soak this in some soapy water.
[571]
Does that look fun to you? It doesn't look fun to me.
[575]
So, I'm gonna let it soak for a little while.
[576]
Maybe it'll be easy to clean this off.
[580]
Some warm water. All right.
[581]
And, then the other thing that we should worry about
[583]
besides the counter which is not part of the product,
[585]
I got to clean that out.
[587]
This is not my favorite part of this product.
[589]
It's funny I don't see Eric Theiss clean his on
[592]
informercial, do I?
[594]
But, I guess that's all right. Chicken came out pretty good.
[596]
I like the first, the top level
[598]
stuff better.
[599]
But, all of it came cooked to the proper temperature.
[603]
Okay. I guess it's ready for the next one
[605]
which I think next-
[607]
What is that?
[611]
There's a screw in there,
[615]
and I can't get to it.
[616]
Do you see that? That's a screw.
[620]
I think.
[621]
Okay. It's been soaking for a while. Hopefully it softened
[623]
up a bit.
[624]
(brushing noise)
[625]
Oh, here we go. This is, this is the ticket right here.
[628]
(brushing noise)
[631]
Not the easiest thing to clean in the world.
[633]
Well, at least for this particular food.
[635]
This might be a pretty extreme example.
[637]
All right. So, you guys get the idea.
[639]
I'm gonna turn the camera off and finish. This is gonna take
[640]
a little bit.
[641]
All right. I don't need to go to the gym today,
[642]
because cleaning this and those racks kind of wore me out.
[646]
But anyways, we're moving onto the rotisserie.
[647]
This is how it is assembled.
[649]
I'm not gonna do 15 sausages like the recipe calls for,
[653]
because I don't think
[655]
15 sausages are gonna get eaten here, but I will do four.
[659]
They say to stick a second skewer through there
[661]
to stabilize it
[662]
which is what I'm trying to do right now.
[665]
It's a little difficult to get that lined up properly,
[668]
but I did it.
[669]
Kind of.
[671]
I'm doing it. Okay. I think I got it.
[678]
Okay, here we go.
[681]
And, this side goes on the right.
[684]
Just like that.
[685]
Okay. Nothing's touching it. It doesn't look like.
[688]
I don't think.
[690]
Maybe it is.
[691]
Okay. I had to reposition the sausages because
[693]
one was touching the bottom, but now
[695]
nothing is touching
[696]
so I'm going to put on rotisserie.
[698]
Let's see what happens.
[701]
Press the rotisserie button. 20 minutes.
[706]
Rotisserie.
[710]
And, we're off.
[713]
To light on, there we go.
[716]
Oh, that's not good.
[717]
Oh no. Oh no!
[720]
Oh no!
[722]
What happened?
[723]
Just a false start here. This fell off.
[727]
This is a clip you're supposed to kind of squeeze together.
[729]
All right. Let's try this again.
[733]
Do it. Go, go, go, go!
[739]
Make sure nothing hits.
[750]
Yay!
[759]
I think it looks pretty good. Let's try it out.
[763]
That's right. It's time for the obligatory taste test.
[768]
How does that look?
[770]
(munching sound)
[774]
The outside has a nice Christmas- crispiness.
[777]
And, the inside is well done so that came out really nice.
[780]
What do you guys think, huh?
[781]
20 minutes.
[782]
Didn't have to stir it. Just turn it on and walk away.
[787]
I definitely think that was a success.
[789]
I really want to try the rotating mesh basket,
[791]
and I also really want to try some frozen french fries,
[793]
so I figure I'll do them together. So, that's next.
[802]
I should point out for the rotisserie and the basket,
[804]
you have this tool which allows you to put it in there
[807]
more easily and not burn your hands when you take it out.
[813]
Now, the owner's manula does have a nice chart here
[816]
for a bunch of common foods, and they have thick frozen
[819]
french fries.
[820]
It says
[821]
1 1/4-3 cups. 15-20 minutes
[824]
at 400 degrees. I'm gonna use the rotating basket
[827]
so I don't have to flip them.
[830]
I just got a small quantity in there, so let's try it out.
[834]
French fries.
[835]
Didn't even have to do anything. Automatically come
[837]
on its own.
[838]
And, now I'm going to hit the rotisserie button as well.
[845]
And, there they go. How's that?
[848]
No need to flip.
[851]
How cool is that?
[853]
Very cool.
[854]
It'll even be more cool when they come out right, right?
[856]
Let's see how they go.
[857]
And, the fries are done.
[859]
Let's take a look.
[860]
Got my trusty tool.
[864]
Okay. I'm gonna have to open that up and give them a try.
[872]
All right. I'm not sure if they're completely done yet.
[875]
I didn't set any time or temperature 'cause it's automatic.
[881]
I mean it's hot, but
[883]
needs more time.
[885]
I think they need five more minutes.
[888]
The french fry button and I'm gonna go
[890]
time down to five.
[894]
Boom.
[904]
Okay. These ended up being 20 minutes.
[906]
Let's see how it tastes.
[908]
(munching sound)
[911]
What do you know, tastes like frozen oven french fries.
[914]
They didn't really brown,
[916]
but they are done.
[917]
And, the texture is nice so-
[919]
The nice thing about this is you can just put them in there,
[922]
hit the button, and walk away and they're done.
[924]
You don't have to worry about flipping them,
[925]
you don't have to worry about turning the oven off.
[926]
So, I do like the fact that it has that feature.
[929]
I like the basket because then you don't have
[931]
to worry about flipping.
[932]
Otherwise, if you use the trays, you would have to flip.
[935]
The one thing I did not have success with was
[937]
sun-dried tomatoes.
[938]
I follow the instructions that said to cut plum tomatoes
[941]
in half, put them skin side down for 10 hours.
[944]
After 10 hours, they were not done. So, I don't know
[946]
if I had too large of tomatoes
[948]
or what went wrong.
[951]
As of right now, I'm still going at 16 hours.
[954]
They're still not done yet.
[955]
It'll probably something I have to play around with it
[957]
for my second video, but here's how that went.
[959]
So, I just turn these over because it's been 12 hours.
[962]
The instructions say 10,
[964]
and they're, and they're still not done.
[967]
So, I'm gonna put them like this, even though it doesn't say
[970]
to do that, because
[972]
this side is pretty dry. This side is still pretty moist,
[974]
so I'm gonna put it back in there for a few more hours
[977]
and see if I can get these into sun-dried tomato shape.
[981]
The instruction just said to cut them in half,
[982]
stick them in there. It doesn't say to get them or anything.
[986]
Maybe these are too big. Again, didn't say how large
[988]
to make them.
[989]
So, this is going to be kind of a trial and error thing
[991]
I think.
[997]
I know that was a lot so let's recap.
[999]
The croutons I think came out great.
[1001]
They only took eight minutes in there.
[1003]
If you figure how long it would take the driver to the store,
[1004]
get croutons and come back, you could cut them up
[1007]
and make them at home in that amount of time.
[1009]
I've eaten them since I made them. I really like them,
[1012]
so I'm gonna continue to make croutons
[1014]
in the Power AirFryer Oven.
[1016]
Next up, I did fried chicken. I think that the top rack
[1019]
cooked a little bit faster and better
[1021]
than the lower racks did.
[1023]
When I went to rotate it, the top rack legs were
[1026]
a little bit too thick, so they didn't really come out
[1029]
as good as I hope.
[1031]
I think it came out pretty well,
[1032]
but that's something I'm pretty sure
[1034]
that with additional tries, I can actually do a better job on.
[1038]
I have a feeling that with practice of the fried chicken,
[1040]
it will actually be better in future attempts.
[1043]
The sausage and peppers came out without a hitch.
[1045]
They went exactly as planned so I have no complaints
[1047]
about that.
[1048]
Frozen french fries took 20 minutes. I like the fact
[1050]
that I can just kind of set it and forget it.
[1052]
Don't worry about flipping. Don't worry about the oven
[1054]
going off.
[1056]
So, the French fries I thought in the rotisserie bas-
[1059]
mesh basket came out pretty well.
[1060]
And again, the sun-dried tomatoes,
[1062]
they took significantly longer than I expected,
[1065]
but I do like the fact that there is a dehydrator function
[1068]
in the Power AirFryer Oven.
[1070]
My initial impression of the Power AirFryer Oven
[1072]
is positive. You get lots of recipes, it can be used
[1075]
as an oven, a rotisserie or a dehydrator which
[1078]
other air fryers can't do all those things.
[1080]
A lot of food can actually be cooked with a single touch,
[1083]
because the presets are pretty accurate already.
[1085]
The only real complaint I have is that when you pull
[1087]
the bottom rack out, you have a tendency to hit
[1089]
your hand on the oven door when it's open which is hot,
[1093]
so you might want to lay an oven mitt down below there
[1096]
or you could always use Hot Hands.
[1098]
This is just a first look review, so I'll be back
[1100]
in a couple weeks and I'll try more recipes,
[1102]
and I'll have a better idea how to use it.
[1104]
I will have worked some of the recipes
[1105]
and have a better idea how they work.
[1107]
So, look for a part two in the coming weeks.
[1110]
I did try to follow the instructions as closely as possible,
[1113]
but there will be some trial and error even though there are
[1115]
a lot of instructions how to do certain recipes on here.
[1117]
Some may not go exactly as planned.
[1120]
So, let me know of the things that maybe I could
[1121]
have done better for this review.
[1123]
Let me know if some of the things you'd like for me
[1125]
to see in the next video.
[1127]
And, any questions you have, I'll try to answer
[1129]
