Do NOT Sell These 5 T-Shirts 馃拑馃憰 Dropshipping & Print On Demand (T-Shirt Business Tips) - YouTube
Channel: Wholesale Ted
[0]
hey everybody it's me Syria from home so
[1]
Ted and in today's video I'm gonna tell
[3]
you about five t-shirts that you should
[6]
not sell for some of these t-shirts you
[8]
should avoid them because of the fact
[10]
that they would be doomed to fail from
[12]
the start and if you try to spend any
[14]
money on advertising it would be a huge
[17]
waste other t-shirts could get you into
[19]
potential customer service strife and
[21]
leave you with very unhappy customers
[24]
and for some of these t-shirts well you
[26]
should avoid them because of the fact
[27]
that they could get you into potential
[29]
legal issues and end up having your
[31]
store and your advertising accounts and
[34]
your payment gateways shut down
[37]
it all sounds a bit scary doesn't it
[39]
well don't worry if you just follow
[40]
along with the simple advice that I'll
[43]
be giving you in this video and you can
[45]
avoid selling t-shirts like these and to
[47]
make the video a little bit less scary I
[49]
decided to make it a little bit more
[51]
interesting yes dancing is back now I
[55]
know I've already had some dot sing
[58]
recently and some quizzes and whenever I
[60]
make videos like this they are a little
[62]
bit controversial but I really like them
[65]
so in this video we're gonna play
[67]
another fun quiz where you can win ten
[70]
points yay here's how it's going to work
[73]
I'm going to show you a mystery t-shirt
[75]
for five seconds and that time you have
[77]
to guess the reason why you should not
[79]
sell that t-shirt and if you get it
[81]
right you will win ten points and also
[84]
just FYI later in the video I have a
[86]
huge announcement and that's something
[88]
that I am very excited to share but for
[91]
now it is quiz time okay so here is a
[93]
print-on-demand shirt I created selling
[96]
this shirt could get you into legal hot
[98]
water so why do you think that is you've
[100]
got five seconds to guess go
[108]
alright times up drum roll please the
[111]
reason why it would be a terrible idea
[113]
to sow this t-shirt is because it
[117]
features the typeface from the coca-cola
[119]
logo yep
[121]
does this look familiar to you it should
[123]
is it's the same C that's used in the
[125]
coca-cola logo see here's a question I
[128]
get asked a fair bet Sarah can I use
[131]
famous fonts from movies or TV show
[134]
logos well that's a good question and so
[136]
here is the strange yet fascinating
[138]
thing about fonts and copyrights in the
[142]
USA unlike most countries which protect
[145]
typefaces as a work of art and gives it
[147]
copyright protection and the USA
[149]
typefaces do not have copyright
[151]
protection although fonts do and yes
[154]
they are separate things and it's
[156]
important to know the distinction so
[158]
let's say I went and bought this font
[160]
gallery
[160]
created by a font designer when I
[163]
purchase it I am given a file which is a
[165]
piece of software to download once I
[168]
install the summer computer I will now
[170]
be able to use this want this file or
[172]
software is the font this is legally
[175]
protected
[176]
I can't resell it or reproduce it but
[178]
the typeface as in the visual design of
[181]
the letters and the numbers that design
[184]
has no legal protection in the USA
[188]
however the coca-cola logo is trademarks
[192]
that means design elements from the
[193]
typeface that it uses such as the iconic
[196]
C's are protected by trademark this
[198]
means that coca-cola could still come
[200]
after you and have a great legal case if
[203]
you try to use their typeface for most
[205]
countries it would flat-out be illegal
[207]
due to copyright infringement but in the
[209]
USA it's gets you to sell not due to
[212]
copyrights but choose your trademark
[214]
infringement and so yes usually I'd
[217]
recommend most people stay away from
[219]
doing this but your risk tolerance may
[222]
vary and as always I have to say I am
[224]
NOT a lawyer and this is not her
[227]
placement for official legal advice ok
[230]
did you get it right as so
[232]
congratulations
[233]
you can add team points to your total if
[234]
you didn't well no that's absolutely
[236]
fine because with
[237]
got another chance to win 10 new points
[240]
okay
[241]
this t-shirt here would not be a good
[243]
idea to sell if you were planning on
[245]
using Facebook Ads to be your primary
[247]
source of traffic so why would this
[249]
t-shirt not be a good idea in that case
[251]
you've got five seconds go
[259]
alright times up drum roll please the
[263]
reason why this t-shirt would not be a
[264]
good idea to sell if Facebook has
[266]
forgiven be your primary source of
[268]
traffic is because giraffes are too
[271]
niche yep that's right while some people
[274]
are indeed interested in giraffes there
[276]
just aren't enough people to make the
[278]
snitch worth your time if we come to
[280]
facebook's audience insight tool we can
[282]
type in giraffe and see that we get a
[283]
very small group of people just four
[286]
hundred and fifty to five hundred
[287]
thousand people for this interest in the
[289]
USA if you tried to sell this t-shirt
[291]
then even if you initially found an
[293]
audience of giraffe fans you could sell
[295]
it to you would very quickly saturate
[298]
them and the chances are your ad would
[300]
just well fizzle out even worse because
[303]
this audience is so small to begin with
[305]
it would be very difficult to find sub
[307]
niche targeted audiences to increase
[310]
your initial ad conversions for example
[313]
let's say we wanted the Southwest
[314]
t-shirt which by the way wouldn't really
[317]
be a good idea because it looks terrible
[319]
but regardless that's not the point
[321]
so who would be our audience people that
[324]
like giraffes and are involved in
[326]
environmentalism if we come and create a
[329]
dummy advert on Facebook and try to
[331]
cross the giraffe niche with something
[333]
relations such as targeting people
[335]
involved in environmental organizations
[337]
we only hit 33,000 people with their
[340]
targeting way way too small but you know
[344]
it would be a much bigger better niche
[346]
giant pandas the fan base for this is
[349]
much bigger if we come to the Facebook
[351]
audience and site tool and type in giant
[354]
panda we'll see that we've reach a much
[356]
bigger audience 3.5 to 4 million people
[359]
instead now only is that a large amount
[361]
of people to scale out to but if we try
[363]
to narrow our audience down to people
[365]
that are interested in giant pandas and
[367]
in environmental organizations
[369]
we'll hit at least 100
[370]
thousand people which should be your
[372]
minimum target for an initial ad did you
[375]
get a right if so congratulations you've
[378]
won ten points now I sit at the sales
[380]
video I have a big announcement so let's
[382]
do it now
[383]
our old premium drop shipping training
[385]
course the dropship club is no more and
[388]
it has instead being replaced with our
[390]
much bigger this our training course the
[392]
econ club house the econ club house is
[395]
host out it's premium over-the-shoulder
[397]
training program designed to help
[399]
shortcut your success in creating a
[401]
money-making flick store from start to
[404]
finish not only have we updated our
[406]
extensive drop shipping videos but we
[408]
now offer hours of premium
[410]
over-the-shoulder training specifically
[412]
for selling successful print-on-demand
[414]
products in addition that has been
[416]
highly requested with more than
[419]
quadruple to the content for teaching
[421]
facebook ads and we've added a huge
[423]
series of training videos they teach you
[425]
how to get free traffic with Google
[427]
using SEO even if you've got a low
[429]
starting budget a lot of people
[431]
understandably ask me Sarah what's the
[434]
difference between your free videos on
[435]
YouTube and your premium videos inside
[438]
the clubhouse well here is an example on
[441]
this channel I have a free SEO tutorial
[444]
it's 34 minutes long but my SEO training
[446]
videos inside the econ club house they
[449]
are over two hours long so if you want
[452]
to go beyond our YouTube videos and get
[454]
access to our premium advanced
[456]
over-the-shoulder training I will have a
[457]
link to how you can join the econ Club
[459]
pass in the video description below for
[461]
now they're back to the video and your
[464]
next chance to win ten points okay here
[467]
is the t-shirt this shirt would not be
[469]
okay to sell on eBay why would that be
[472]
you've got five seconds to gifts go
[480]
alright
[482]
drum roll please the reason why this
[484]
would not be a good t-shirt to sell on
[486]
eBay
[487]
is because of the fact that it is drop
[489]
shipped from Aliexpress yep see here's
[492]
the thing a lot of people ask me Sarah
[495]
can I drop ship from Aliexpress on eBay
[497]
and while it isn't inherently bent or
[500]
anything as I see it in this video it is
[503]
not a good idea despite that a lot of
[507]
people still ask me about what I think
[508]
about aliexpress drop shipping and eBay
[511]
well I can tell you my opinion it's not
[513]
changed here is the thing like most
[516]
online marketplaces sellers have a
[518]
love/hate relationship with eBay
[520]
we love that we have to do minimal
[522]
marketing to sell our products on eBay
[523]
because millions of people just go there
[525]
every day and that is not to be
[528]
underestimated because for most stores
[531]
50% of their revenue usually goes
[535]
towards marketing and so even though
[538]
eBay charge fees these don't come close
[540]
to traditional marketing costs on the
[543]
other hand eBay also has thus seller
[546]
performance standards if more than 2% of
[549]
your transactions result in customers
[551]
winning an eBay dispute your account is
[554]
in serious trouble and here's the
[556]
downside to drop shipping with
[557]
Aliexpress sure the items are very cheap
[560]
but on the other hand shipping is going
[563]
to take two to three weeks for customers
[564]
and the longer shipping takes the
[567]
fussier customers can get if you're
[570]
selling in your own store especially if
[572]
you're using stripe with Shopify
[573]
payments you can handle XE customers if
[576]
you had an upfront shipping policy by
[578]
pointing it out but on eBay they are
[581]
notorious for siding with customers even
[583]
when the customers did not fairly
[586]
deserve to win the dispute and so drop
[588]
shipping homes from Aliexpress onto eBay
[590]
is not something I would recommend but
[593]
honestly there is a much bigger reason
[596]
that I would avoid selling this item on
[599]
eBay because he would be drop shipping
[601]
it from Aliexpress and that's because
[603]
I'll express suppliers like this one
[605]
here are often selling the item on eBay
[608]
themselves anyway because they are
[610]
producing the item themselves they can
[612]
sell them for the same or similar prices
[614]
to the cost on Aliexpress but on eBay
[617]
and while i 100% believe that you do not
[620]
need
[621]
to compete on price and you can list
[623]
your items for higher prices than your
[625]
competitors if you differentiate
[627]
yourself from them it is very difficult
[629]
to meaningfully differentiate yourself
[632]
from the supplier so no I don't
[635]
recommend drop shipping on ebay stick to
[637]
drop shipping in your own store where
[639]
it's a lot easier to differentiate
[641]
yourself instead so did you get it right
[643]
if so congratulations you won 10 points
[646]
if you don't get a right though that's
[647]
okay because you've got another chance
[649]
to win this one's gonna be a little bit
[651]
easier so this time we're gonna be
[653]
playing for 5 points instead all right
[656]
do you see the stay shoot here it would
[658]
be a very big mistake to add this
[660]
product listing to your store and sell
[663]
it if you had previously added this
[665]
t-shirt product listing to your store
[667]
can you figure out why this would be a
[670]
big mistake you have 5 seconds to guess
[673]
go alright times up drum roll please the
[682]
reason like it would be a mistake to
[684]
list this in your store if you had
[686]
listed the previous listing it's because
[689]
you reused the exact same model for both
[692]
of these t-shirt designs so for those of
[695]
you that don't know I created these
[696]
photos using an ethical playset in my
[699]
recent video I gave a short tutorial on
[701]
how to use it and if you want to check
[704]
it out for yourself I'll have a link to
[705]
that video in the description below
[707]
place that allows you to create
[708]
lifestyle mock-up pictures for your
[710]
t-shirt without watering the shirts and
[713]
yourself to take your own photos and
[715]
this is extremely extremely important
[718]
for any wannabe t-shirt stores out there
[721]
because a lifestyle picture like this
[724]
can be used in an advertising campaign
[726]
and it's going to be way better
[731]
99.99999% of the time then the product
[733]
on white background picture that most
[735]
print-on-demand providers give you
[737]
lifestyle photo apps like this are one
[740]
of the secret tools you could say of
[742]
successful print-on-demand stores
[744]
however there are a lot of beginners out
[747]
there that make a big mistake see
[749]
they'll find a picture they think looks
[751]
good on one of these apps like this and
[753]
go awesome
[755]
and then proceeded to use it throughout
[756]
their entire website on each of the
[759]
different t-shirts and you know what
[761]
this is a terrible idea why because now
[765]
customers know that you did not take
[767]
those photos the only way this person
[770]
can be in the exact same post with the
[772]
exact same lighting is funnily enough if
[775]
you photoshop the design on now that's
[778]
certainly not the end of the world which
[779]
is why this is only worth five points
[781]
but you know one of the really nice
[784]
things about having customers think that
[786]
you took the photo is that it makes your
[789]
store look much bigger than it actually
[792]
is it makes it look like your store is
[794]
big enough to justify having its own
[797]
photo shoot and you ruined that when you
[801]
reuse the same photo and so if you are
[804]
using a lifestyle photo app plate place
[807]
it or smart mock-ups then make sure that
[810]
you vary up the pictures and actually
[813]
here is a really great tip to increase
[815]
your authority even more search for
[818]
pictures that reuse the same model now
[820]
I'm not sure if other competing services
[822]
like smart mock-ups have this feature
[824]
they very likely do but I know that
[826]
place it does what you do is you come
[829]
and click this button here when you do
[831]
that place that will show you all the
[832]
photos they have featuring this model by
[834]
picking different photos featuring this
[836]
model for each of your t-shirts it makes
[839]
it look like you had an actual photo
[840]
shoot with him and it adds authority to
[843]
your store so what I recommend that you
[845]
do is you go there and you choose a few
[847]
models that you like and then you reuse
[849]
them and different pictures and poses
[851]
and that way it's going to make your
[853]
store look like it is already
[855]
established and successful so did you
[858]
get a right if so congratulations you
[860]
won five points now if you didn't don't
[863]
worry because we've got one more chance
[864]
to win points this time we are playing
[867]
for 50 whole points okay
[869]
so here is a print-on-demand provider a
[871]
lot of people don't know about
[873]
CJ dropshipping they have some pretty
[875]
low cost items such as this t-shirt that
[877]
has a base selling price of three
[879]
dollars and fifty cents but you know
[881]
what it would be a big mistake to go and
[884]
Salvas t-shirt on the online marketplace
[886]
it see what
[887]
a place that many successful t-shirt
[889]
stores have popped up on such as this
[891]
one here selling designs with print on
[893]
demand services and they have made
[895]
hundreds of thousands of dollars why
[898]
would it be a mistake to sell this
[899]
t-shirt there you have five seconds to
[902]
gifts go alright times up drum roll
[910]
please the answer for 15 points is that
[914]
the service provider there in China see
[916]
here's the thing about it see originally
[918]
it was a marketplace for handmade items
[920]
only over time though they started to
[923]
allow sellers to work with ethical
[925]
production partners they used to audit
[927]
them although now they no longer do
[928]
however a lot of Etsy buyers still very
[932]
much care about this and due to many
[935]
factors a lot of people have very
[937]
negative ideas and beliefs about ethical
[939]
standards of warehouses and
[940]
manufacturers in China and so when an
[943]
Etsy user receives a t-shirt from CJ
[945]
drop shipping and seize the package was
[947]
from China you risk them being
[949]
unimpressed and potentially leaving
[951]
negative feedback that's why when it
[954]
comes to its si I think it's a smart
[955]
idea to avoid foreign manufacturers and
[958]
try to stick to local manufacturers
[960]
instead and as a bonus several of these
[962]
local manufacturers have integrations
[964]
with Etsy to automate your store and
[966]
production as well turning it into a
[968]
source of semi passive income another
[971]
good reason to choose them as well so
[973]
how many points did you win let me know
[975]
in the comment section below and if you
