[0]
i'm on a much different scale brand new
[2]
fallout and britney spears years-long
[4]
legal drama
[5]
to break free of her conservatorship
[8]
support pouring in for the pop star
[10]
after
[10]
dramatic testimony where she detailed
[12]
what she called abuse of conservatorship
[15]
and severe mistreatment by her own dad
[17]
spears telling the court she had no
[19]
control over her life
[20]
or her finances making other explosive
[23]
claims like how she was forced into
[25]
involuntary medical evaluations and
[28]
rehab
[28]
and she was made to take medication
[30]
against her will spears is also saying
[32]
quote
[33]
i was to be able i want to be able to
[36]
get married have a baby i was told right
[38]
now under the conservatorship i am not
[40]
able to get married
[41]
or have a baby katie it is absolutely
[44]
infuriating to me that
[46]
they even made her have an iud that
[49]
she can't even control her own
[50]
reproductive uh you know rights it's uh
[53]
it's
[53]
outrageous yeah they're forcing her to
[55]
be on birth control and then my
[57]
follow-up question to that is well if
[58]
she were to get pregnant would they then
[60]
force her to have an abortion since
[62]
they're controlling the rest of her life
[64]
conservative ships are supposed to be
[66]
about taking care of somebody who can't
[68]
take care of themselves they're supposed
[69]
to
[70]
be so that you can help someone live a
[71]
happy life because they're not in a
[73]
position where they can
[74]
take care of themselves in a proper
[76]
careful way this is not
[78]
that i mean her testimony about what
[79]
they have done to her she likened it to
[81]
being
[82]
sex trafficked and being stuck as a
[84]
prisoner inside her own
[85]
home they're clearly not taking care of
[88]
her in a way that has anything to do
[89]
with loving her
[90]
or wanting her to live the best life
[92]
that they can to help her through
[94]
and when it comes to what the judge is
[96]
going to say we'll have to see it know
[98]
the rules and the laws for
[99]
conservatorships are basically
[100]
impossible to get out of
[101]
and when i watched the documentary
[103]
framing britney spears one thing that
[105]
stood out to me is they
[106]
did they said she wasn't competent
[107]
enough to hire her own lawyer
[110]
but then they allowed her to be
[111]
competent enough to sign her entire life
[113]
away for the rest of her life as a young
[115]
woman
[116]
into this lifelong conservatorship so
[119]
everything that we've seen so far just
[121]
doesn't add up in terms of being ethical
[123]
or moral or
[124]
based in any kind of ability to treat
[127]
her fairly
[128]
admittedly jesse i don't know everything
[130]
but it does seem well
[132]
done wait a second come on about
[134]
brittany
[135]
okay but i i do know that her father
[137]
seems like a skunk
[139]
he seems like a greedy you know
[141]
self-serving
[142]
how dare he she's almost 40 years old
[145]
she's had a career she's generated tens
[147]
of millions of dollars
[148]
entertained hundreds of millions of
[150]
people and here she is she's basically
[153]
a slave to a conservatorship uh that as
[156]
kd indicated has no bounds
[158]
i spoke to a britney insider today
[161]
geraldo who said
[163]
because he'd spent some time with her
[164]
during this conservatorship not johnny
[167]
not gonna name his name but he said that
[169]
the father before all this was just a
[171]
cook
[172]
and didn't make a lot of money wasn't a
[173]
sophisticated guy and the next thing you
[175]
know
[176]
he's now managing a multi-million dollar
[179]
empire of his daughter
[180]
and it's been 13 years and he doesn't
[182]
want to give it up and they have a
[184]
system set up where now
[186]
there is a team of lawyers for him
[187]
there's a team of lawyers for her
[189]
she pays both teams of lawyers and her
[192]
lawyers are corn appointed lawyers
[194]
so they didn't have a lot of money to
[196]
begin with now they're getting
[198]
loads of money from brittany they're
[199]
going to prolong this because they've
[201]
hit the jackpot
[202]
and it's a catch-22 so if they say
[205]
you know what we're going to send you
[207]
for an evaluation every single day
[209]
and she says no i'm fine i don't want to
[211]
do that
[212]
she's now said she's uncooperative
[215]
and then if she goes and talks to the
[217]
people of the therapy session
[219]
says i'm angry says i'm depressed well
[221]
then she's angry and depressed and she
[222]
needs to stay in the conservatorship
[224]
if you are incapacitated you do this to
[228]
someone
[228]
but she's not incapacitated she's
[231]
putting on shows she's hosting shows
[233]
she's actually paying the salaries of a
[235]
multitude of people
[237]
all she wants to do is have a regular
[239]
life with a kid and a husband and
[241]
they're not letting her do that they're
[242]
making her work like an animal
[244]
for their own financial interests
[246]
there's always dana two sides to a story
[248]
but it really feels like the weight of
[250]
the evidence supports this young lady
[252]
and her challenge to have her freedom
[254]
back i mean
[255]
it offends everybody as i understand
[257]
that conservatorship was just supposed
[258]
to help her get from
[260]
through a tough period it wasn't meant
[262]
to be a life sentence
[263]
but that seems to be like what she's
[265]
going through however the
[268]
father's lawyer says at any point
[270]
brittany is free to file a petition to
[272]
end the conservatorship and she's
[273]
actually never done that
[275]
i don't that's the part i don't
[276]
understand and i don't know anything
[278]
or everything well i did speak to my
[279]
insider okay about that and at one point
[282]
britney did get an attorney from the
[284]
outside because she did want to
[285]
file a suit and it brings the attorney
[287]
into the court and the judge says no no
[289]
no no
[289]
you can't use that attorney you can only
[291]
use the attorney that's been appointed
[292]
and the lawyer also told her never told
[294]
her that she had the ability to
[296]
get out of it aren't we right to care
[297]
greg i suppose so
[299]
i mean i didn't contact anybody on the
[301]
story right i'm not going to pretend to
[303]
be an
[303]
expert in five minutes on law but i will
[306]
say that
[307]
behind every family tragedy is a team of
[310]
lawyers perpetuating it
[311]
whether it's a contentious family
[313]
divorce and i'm a lawyer yeah i mean
[314]
like
[315]
like family law is probably one of the
[318]
most torturous
[318]
uh uh mazes of hell anybody could go
[322]
through and i only know that
[323]
from talking to people who've gone
[324]
through divorces and and where their law
[327]
there's no incentive all of this stuff
[329]
is based on incentives there's no
[330]
incentives
[331]
for lawyers to end this and you got to
[333]
wonder at this point who else could be
[335]
judged incapacitated
[337]
for a year or two i mean i i don't want
[340]
my wife to get any ideas
[342]
because i mean i've said some pretty
[343]
crazy things on this show and
[345]
you know my tweets are a little
[347]
disturbing she could probably find
[348]
enough but this is an industry
[350]
that doesn't care about you as long as
[353]
you're making them money she does two
[355]
shows
[355]
two shows a day for five years in vegas
[358]
that's gutfeld's schedule
[360]
right the problem is the worst
[361]
occupation in the world probably
[364]
more dangerous than being a lager is
[367]
child
[367]
star if you went through the numbers of
[369]
all the child stars and figured out
[371]
which ones were dead and which ones are
[373]
permanently damaged
[374]
it's probably a lot worse than people
[375]
who are longshoremen or loggers
[378]
which have 111 deaths for 100 000.
[381]
that's good to know in case you were
[383]
asking but this entertainment industry
[384]
is codified child abuse
[386]
they don't care nobody can i wonder if
[388]
i'm just
[389]
wondering if there was a female judge
[392]
would she have been more sympathetic
[394]
than these creepy old men who are so as
[398]
you indicate self-serving
