Samsung TU7000 Crystal UHD TV REVISITED - YouTube

Channel: Tech Steve

[0]
hey everyone i'm tech steve and on
[1]
today's video we're going to do a
[2]
revisit on the samsung tu7000 television
[6]
now there's a few things that i want to
[8]
cover on this video that didn't cover
[10]
in the last video plus i want to explain
[12]
some things and how this tv set actually
[14]
works
[15]
now before we get started i just want
[16]
you guys to know is that this panel
[18]
is 60 hertz with 120 hertz motion that
[22]
smooths out those fast actions
[24]
if you have other questions be sure to
[25]
leave that in the comments below
[27]
with that being said sit back and relax
[29]
and let's get started so here we have
[31]
the tu 7000 samsung
[32]
and the first thing i'll tell you guys
[34]
is that do not try to remove
[36]
this plastic from the screen here if you
[38]
do then this whole screen will be ruined
[41]
so do not do that
[42]
now don't try to take anything off the
[44]
screen but what you can do is around the
[46]
frame here
[46]
you do have a piece of plastic that you
[48]
can peel off and that's pretty much all
[50]
you can do
[51]
if you don't want to ruin this tv set
[57]
and the same thing around the size
[61]
so i made a few mistakes on my first
[63]
video but we're going to correct them on
[64]
this video
[65]
first of all it does have two hdmi
[67]
inputs
[68]
now if you have more devices you can get
[70]
adapter and if you guys want to see a
[72]
video on that
[73]
leave a comment below and i'll see if i
[75]
can order a part and show you guys how
[76]
you can expand
[78]
one of these hdmis to have more input so
[80]
first of all the hdmi
[82]
input 1 is a hdmi 2.0 but if you're
[85]
trying to get a gaming system like the
[86]
ps5
[87]
or the new xbox then you can use
[90]
input 2 and this is actually hdmi 2.1
[95]
now my first video i said it had hdmi
[97]
2.2 what i actually meant
[99]
is that it has hdcp which is a copyright
[102]
protection
[103]
that's used and it's version 2.2 so i do
[106]
apologize for that mistake
[108]
but on this video we're going to correct
[109]
some things now even though the samsung
[111]
tu7000 has the e-arc which is hdmi 2.1
[116]
is still a 60 hertz panel in fact
[119]
most samsung products are 60 hertz until
[121]
you get up to
[122]
the q70t model which gives you 120 hertz
[125]
native panel
[127]
now the benefits to it is that you can
[128]
get enhanced audio features so if you
[130]
have
[131]
a 5.1 or 7.1 audio system
[134]
this tv set can support those type of
[137]
outputs through the hdmi
[138]
e-arc now my first video i made a lot of
[141]
people were confused if you can mount
[143]
this tv on the wall or not
[144]
and it does have four screw holes now
[146]
what i meant by that
[147]
is on the older model samsung you had to
[150]
have plastic adapters
[151]
to put into these holes to be able to
[153]
make it mountable for the wall
[155]
so after reading through my comment
[156]
section on the last video i realized
[158]
that a lot of people are complaining
[160]
that these newer tv sets like this tu
[162]
7000 looks really dark on hdr
[165]
and the main reason is that when they
[167]
make hdr content
[168]
it's based off a setting called knit and
[170]
in fact to get something that's going to
[172]
give you the true colors of real hdr
[174]
you're going to have to spend a lot more
[176]
money so that's the reason why you're
[178]
going to get
[179]
some darker pictures so first of all
[181]
this is the hdr channel on
[183]
youtube and i'm giving them for credit
[185]
for this footage
[186]
but the main thing is i'm gonna find a
[188]
dark scene and see if i can make some
[189]
adjustments to make it a little bit
[191]
brighter for you guys
[192]
so i'm just gonna do this short film
[194]
right here i'm gonna go ahead and play
[195]
it and see if there's some adjustments
[196]
we can do
[198]
so to me this picture doesn't look that
[200]
dark but i'm pretty sure if people are
[201]
not used to it it's gonna
[203]
appear to look dark so pulling up the
[205]
picture mode you can see this isn't
[206]
standard
[207]
but if you go up to dynamic you can get
[210]
a better brightness but
[211]
what happens is you can see a little
[212]
more gray up here now if you go down to
[214]
natural
[215]
again it looks darker movie looks darker
[218]
film mode it looks darker so let's keep
[220]
it on standard for now
[222]
back into the settings we have an expert
[224]
mode let's go and click on that and play
[225]
around a little bit
[227]
as we make it full brightness you can
[228]
see there's a line right here between
[230]
the gray
[230]
and the black level so if you adjust it
[233]
back to where that matches again
[235]
then the picture gets too dark now
[237]
adjusting the contrast doesn't do much
[239]
at all if you
[240]
go down you just pretty much everything
[242]
is going to get a little bit darker
[244]
sharpness not gonna have anything to do
[245]
with that now back in menu
[248]
there's another feature called color
[249]
tones and white balance
[253]
let's try this one right here see we can
[255]
change a couple settings here but again
[257]
it makes it a little bit brighter if you
[258]
make it on level three shadow details
[260]
let's
[261]
see if that does anything so again what
[263]
it does it just washes out the picture
[266]
so basically what i'm seeing is that
[268]
this panel is great
[269]
however it doesn't have a high ness
[271]
setting so no matter what you do
[273]
you're not going to be able to get that
[274]
nice contrast with that extra brightness
[277]
unless again you spend more money
[279]
and that's generally going to be in the
[280]
higher end samsung models that's gonna
[282]
cost you well over a thousand dollars
[284]
another thing people are talking about
[286]
is that the newer tv sets or laggy
[289]
whether it's this one or any of the
[291]
other new models
[292]
now let's put this in perspective a new
[294]
tv set has to process
[296]
a 4k signal has new operating system
[299]
and on top of that it has to have a
[301]
lower price so if you think about it if
[303]
you went out to buy a new computer
[305]
and you see a computer on the market for
[307]
200 versus a gay men
[309]
computer that sells for twelve hundred
[311]
dollars which one do you think is going
[313]
to be faster
[314]
now when it comes to tv sets to have all
[316]
these applications
[317]
and everything in there it is a computer
[320]
so
[321]
if you have an older tv set that was
[322]
1080p didn't have all these apps
[324]
keep in mind all i had to do is just
[326]
show a signal now this one has so much
[328]
different things it has to do
[330]
now you got to think about price so
[332]
overall i don't see
[333]
too much lag in mostly tv sets but there
[336]
will be some delay when you switching
[338]
from
[339]
app to app or channel channel due to
[342]
we're trying to get those lower price
[343]
points
[344]
so next we're going to talk about the
[345]
apple airplay 2 and the screen mirroring
[348]
feature
[348]
now the great thing about airplay is
[350]
that it allows you to take your apple
[352]
device whether
[353]
it's a computer or a smartphone and send
[356]
your screen over to the television set
[358]
and you can do that also with samsung
[360]
smart devices called
[361]
smart view and that's going to allow you
[363]
to take your screen and you can
[365]
broadcast it to show like your pictures
[367]
your movies on your phone so
[369]
let me show you guys how to get that all
[371]
set up in order to use the apple airplay
[373]
feature you must have
[374]
ios 12.3 or higher so any phone
[377]
compatible with that will work
[379]
the first thing you need to do is press
[380]
the settings on remote control
[382]
and if you have a different samsung
[383]
device you want to go ahead and find
[385]
your settings
[386]
so i can show you guys the next steps
[387]
once you're in settings just go down
[389]
here where it says general
[391]
and then go over here to airplay
[393]
settings
[394]
now we'll tell you unlike the lg models
[396]
this particular tv set has
[398]
airplay but it doesn't have the home kit
[400]
that you can control everything with
[402]
siri
[402]
but with that being said you want to
[404]
make sure the airplay is turned on
[406]
and at that point any iphone can find it
[408]
or any apple computer can find it
[410]
long as it has the minimum requirements
[412]
now there's a few ways you can set this
[414]
up there's a first time
[415]
only when it asks for a code it's every
[417]
time a password
[419]
and if you do it first time only at the
[421]
bottom you can reset all the phones that
[423]
it saved into the memory
[424]
now that we have that turned on go to
[426]
any compatible iphone
[428]
slide down the screen or if you have an
[429]
older model slide up on the screen
[432]
and then go and press on screen
[434]
mirroring
[436]
next you wanna press on the samsung
[437]
series that you have
[439]
in this case the seven series and a code
[442]
will appear on the screen
[444]
now go ahead and enter the code onto
[445]
your phone and then press ok
[448]
the last thing i'll tell you when using
[450]
this feature your iphone must stay on
[452]
to be able to do screen mirroring next
[454]
we're going to take a samsung phone
[456]
and show you guys how to do screen
[458]
mirroring with uh smart view
[460]
what you want to do from a samsung
[461]
device is slide your finger down from
[463]
the top
[464]
and sometimes twice and look for smart
[466]
view
[467]
right there now you'll see a list of all
[471]
the different devices
[472]
at the top of it you can see there's a
[474]
samsung 7 series just go ahead and press
[475]
on it
[476]
now at the bottom of the screen you can
[478]
see where it says start now
[480]
go and press on it now you see a pop-up
[482]
on a tv set where it says allow
[484]
deny or close let's go and allow it
[488]
now if you take a look at the phone it
[489]
has some different things it says change
[491]
aspect ratio and you can go and change
[494]
right here
[494]
and now the smart view is live on the tv
[497]
set
[501]
and that's how you do smart views so if
[502]
you play a movie or anything from your
[504]
phone
[505]
it will appear right here on your screen
[507]
and the great thing is if you rotate
[509]
your phone it rotates on the screen as
[511]
well so you can play everything in full
[513]
screen
[514]
next i'll show you guys how to set up
[516]
the smartthings application to your
[518]
samsung television set
[519]
and this is going to allow you to
[520]
control some of the different options
[522]
inside your tv set
[523]
and set it with different devices like
[525]
your google home and your amazon alexa
[527]
units
[528]
the first thing you need to do is from
[529]
your tv set go ahead and sign into your
[531]
samsung account
[532]
now you can find this at the very top of
[534]
your app store but you will need to have
[536]
an email and password
[538]
once you get that we can use that for
[539]
the smartthings application
[541]
so for example here we are back on
[543]
applications if you look at the top of
[544]
the screen
[545]
you can see where it says text the demo
[549]
and you can see at the bottom where
[550]
we're logged into account so i'm going
[552]
to use that same account to log into the
[554]
smartthings application so i can walk
[556]
you through
[556]
how to connect this tv set to that
[558]
particular application
[560]
now we have the tv signed up all we need
[562]
to do is go ahead and sign into the
[563]
smart things application
[565]
all you want to do is hit agree all hit
[567]
start
[568]
and then go ahead and enter your email
[570]
account that you use on the television
[572]
set
[572]
once you do that go ahead and sign in so
[575]
now i'm in the account
[576]
you can see there's some other tv sets
[577]
that i had in here when i was doing some
[579]
other videos but if you hit the plus at
[581]
the top then go ahead and press on
[583]
device
[584]
then find the television here at the
[586]
bottom
[588]
go ahead and choose on samsung and what
[590]
it's going to do it's going to find a tv
[592]
that was part of that email account that
[595]
i just logged into
[596]
you also can give it a name location you
[599]
can see right here it found it
[601]
in mind you this tv set has to be on
[603]
wi-fi and you can see there's a code
[605]
that pops up here on the tv set you want
[607]
to go ahead and enter that code
[609]
and then go and press done
[612]
so what it's doing now it's registering
[613]
your tv set with the smartthings
[615]
application
[616]
here like for example it has connected
[618]
successfully
[619]
and also pops up on the tv set right
[621]
there so now they're connected
[624]
now you can see it right here i can
[626]
press on it now here's another feature
[628]
they put on here so if you want to do
[629]
screen mirroring
[630]
all you can do is just tap your phone on
[632]
the corner tv set let's go and try it
[634]
i'm gonna turn it on so look at that
[638]
the phone popped up and there's the
[640]
option to go ahead and start sharing
[645]
so you can see it did screen sharing
[646]
just by tapping the phone on the tv set
[649]
but i'm not sure if this is uh
[651]
compatible with all different
[652]
smartphones
[653]
but i know it works on this note phone
[655]
for sure
[657]
so now we have this connected you can
[658]
see there's a remote control that you
[660]
can use
[661]
so if you thought about using the
[663]
smartthings application that's pretty
[664]
much how to get everything all set up
[666]
and running
[666]
so now i'm going to show you guys how to
[668]
set up the amazon alexa and the google
[670]
home system up to the television set
[672]
and you can do a lot of the basic
[674]
features but the biggest thing that
[675]
people complain about
[677]
is when the tv goes to sleep the wi-fi
[679]
disconnects
[680]
and then you can no longer turn the tv
[682]
set on so you have to use remote control
[684]
so there's no fix to that far as i know
[686]
but i'm going to show you guys how to
[688]
set it up
[688]
and show you a list of the commands that
[690]
you can do if you want to connect it to
[691]
your google or alexa home device
[694]
so now i'm going to show you guys how
[695]
you can take a lexa unit and connect it
[697]
to the samsung tv
[699]
using the smartthings application you're
[701]
going to need to have the amazon alexa
[702]
app set up on your phone
[704]
and you're going to need to have the
[705]
smart things application login
[707]
so the first thing you want to do is go
[708]
over here to more
[711]
and then you will press on skill and
[712]
games
[715]
next thing you want to do is search for
[716]
smartthings
[718]
once you find it go ahead and click on
[719]
application as you can see right there
[722]
then you want to go ahead and click on
[723]
enable to use
[727]
so now what i'm going to do is just use
[728]
the account i set up the smartthings
[730]
application with
[731]
and just going to log in and then you'll
[733]
get this pop-up to authorize the alexa
[735]
app to connect to the smartthings
[737]
application
[738]
go ahead and press on authorize
[741]
you can see now that it's successfully
[743]
linked to the amazon account
[745]
so here's a list of all the different
[746]
commands you can give the television set
[748]
connected to the alexa device but let's
[750]
go and give it a try
[752]
set samsung television volume to level
[754]
10
[757]
so it just popped up on the screen let's
[758]
try something different
[760]
turn samsung tv off did you mean samsung
[763]
7 series 43 yes
[768]
turn samsung's 7 series television on
[774]
and there you go it turned it off and on
[776]
but keep in mind when the wi-fi
[778]
disconnects on his television set due to
[780]
the echo mode then some of the own
[782]
features may not work
[785]
i'm going to show you guys how to
[786]
connect it to a google device right here
[788]
i have the nest audio
[790]
and i already have the google home
[792]
application set up
[793]
in order to do this what we want to do
[794]
is hit the plus in the top corner
[799]
and then when you get this screen you
[800]
want to go ahead and click on set up
[802]
device
[806]
at the bottom you want to click on works
[807]
with google
[809]
hit the search and look for smart things
[812]
once it pulls up go and press on it
[816]
now i can go and press authorize now
[818]
since this is a
[819]
android device usually you don't have an
[821]
issue but if you're using the iphone
[823]
you might have to log back into the
[824]
smartthings application for this to work
[829]
next you want to go back to your home
[830]
screen now from the main screen if you
[832]
scroll down
[833]
you can now see the samsung 43 right
[836]
there
[837]
and for the google home device here's a
[839]
list of the different voice commands you
[841]
can give it
[843]
all right let's do a couple tests turn
[846]
off samsung television
[850]
got it turning off samsung 7 series 43
[854]
turn old samsung tv sure
[858]
turning samsung 7 series 43 on
[861]
and this is where you guys can get a
[862]
little frustrating so overall i don't
[864]
know if you want to use this feature but
[865]
let's give it a try
[867]
turn volume up on samsung television
[872]
i think you want to turn the volume up
[874]
is that right
[876]
so instead of turning the volume up on a
[877]
tv set it's wanted to turn its own
[879]
volume up
[880]
so a lot of people been asking me how do
[881]
you get this tv set out of automatic
[883]
dimming mode
[884]
well the feature is called ambient mode
[886]
so right now i'm going to show you guys
[888]
how to go into the settings
[889]
and disable that just in case you don't
[891]
want your tv set to dim every time
[893]
you're watching a movie
[894]
or the brightness in the room changes so
[897]
i'll tell you this tv set does not have
[898]
the ambient mode where it shows the
[900]
different pictures
[901]
but it will automatically dim itself and
[903]
a lot of people are complaining when
[904]
they're watching tv shows
[906]
that it actually gets so dim and it's
[907]
based off the lighting in a room
[909]
but you can easily disable that by
[911]
hitting setting on the remote control
[913]
going down to general and then go over
[917]
to eco solution
[919]
with that you can turn off the automatic
[922]
demi mode right here
[925]
make sure the power saving mode is
[927]
turned off
[929]
and also turn off the motion lighting if
[932]
you do those things your tv set is going
[934]
to remain a lot brighter but
[935]
again it's going to use a little more
[937]
energy but most tvs don't run that much
[939]
energy at all
[941]
and those who watch a lot of sports and
[943]
you're getting some motion blur you can
[944]
control that
[945]
so under settings go back up to pictures
[947]
and then go to expert settings
[950]
go down to picture clarity settings
[954]
then you will go to auto to custom
[957]
and here you can do the general
[958]
reduction and the what gender is
[960]
is that if you have a 24 frame picture
[963]
then this will actually let you
[965]
match up the picture with the different
[968]
scenes
[969]
so it doesn't have that trailing you can
[971]
also go here to
[972]
led clear motion and this is for fast
[976]
action items so for example if you're
[978]
watching a soccer game
[979]
you want to turn this on and this is
[982]
going to help everything
[983]
work a lot better but it will make the
[985]
picture just a little bit darker
[988]
and then you also have noise reduction
[990]
which you can put auto
[991]
or off so you get to play with these and
[993]
see which one works better for you
[995]
so after watching this video i hope i
[997]
was able to answer a lot of questions
[998]
that you guys have but if you have
[1000]

[1001]

[1002]
