Channel: unknown

[0]
so let me ask you a question do you
[2]
remember that free trial you signed up
[4]
for and never cancelled you know the one
[6]
that's now charging you $15 a month well
[9]
me either
[10]
that's where true bill comes in handy
[12]
I've recently been hearing a lot about
[14]
these different budgeting apps and I
[16]
decided I would try them out and review
[18]
them for you guys on the channel and the
[20]
very first one I want to take a look at
[22]
is called true bill I've been using true
[24]
bill for about one week and I would
[26]
describe it as an app that helps you
[28]
keep track of your overall financial
[30]
life and one of the most useful tools of
[33]
this app is keeping track of those pesky
[35]
recurring subscriptions that we all tend
[38]
to forget about now if you want to try
[40]
out true bill for yourself the link to
[43]
download the app is down in the
[44]
description below I am affiliated with
[47]
true bill so I earn a small commission
[49]
if you do decide to use my link however
[51]
I certainly appreciate that as it is a
[53]
way to give back to me for putting this
[55]
video together for you now that being
[58]
said guys let's get right into it and
[59]
talk more about true bill alright guys
[63]
so the best way to actually explain what
[65]
it is that true bill does is by opening
[67]
the app and showing you guys firsthand I
[70]
actually downloaded to Bill about a week
[72]
ago
[73]
I've been testing out the app myself and
[75]
getting used to the different tools and
[77]
functionality so I want to show you guys
[79]
exactly what this app can do for you as
[81]
well alright guys so as you can see now
[84]
here we are inside of my true bill app
[86]
and it shows right up top what my
[88]
monthly spending is now right off the
[90]
bat I just want to tell you guys that I
[92]
just paid off my car so that is why this
[95]
month spend is so much higher than you
[97]
would expect it to be but that is what
[99]
it shows you right off the bat here is
[101]
what your spending is as well as the
[104]
different bank accounts and credit cards
[106]
that you have linked so what I have
[108]
linked to my account here is my
[110]
different bank accounts here I just have
[111]
Key Bank linked not my emergency fund
[114]
but just my key bank account so if I do
[116]
the drop down here it shows the
[118]
different cash that I have within these
[120]
accounts and then it also shows the
[122]
credit card balance I have on my
[124]
different credit cards now as far as my
[126]
credit card goes I put all of my
[128]
expenses online one credit card and I
[131]
pay it off in full every single month
[133]
so that is pretty helpful to show me you
[135]
know kind of what my spending is but
[137]
this takes it a step further because it
[139]
combines your spending from both your
[141]
credit cards as well as your checking
[144]
accounts and puts it all in one place
[146]
where you can analyze that spending and
[148]
it also gives you ideas to of like what
[150]
your investments are I went ahead and
[152]
linked my Charles Schwab account so that
[154]
you can tie in all of your different
[156]
financial accounts that you have and it
[158]
will give you an overall snapshot of how
[161]
much cash you have how much debt you
[163]
have and how much you have invested
[166]
troub you'll also gives you this option
[167]
of setting up budgets within the app if
[169]
you want to set up a budget for a
[171]
certain thing maybe you're budgeting for
[173]
a vacation or a major life purchase they
[176]
offer a budgeting tool right there
[178]
within the app and then one of the
[180]
things that really is interesting to me
[181]
about this app is the recurring tab here
[184]
on the bottom it gives you an idea of
[186]
what your recurring expenses are which
[189]
is extremely helpful if you're somebody
[191]
who has ever been in the situation where
[192]
you had some monthly expense sneak up on
[195]
you and you didn't have enough money in
[197]
your account so this is extremely useful
[199]
to show you what are your recurring
[201]
expenses and what you should expect
[202]
coming up so in my case here I have my
[205]
Intuit QuickBooks payment coming up my
[207]
audible subscription my National Grid
[210]
bill as well as my Hoffmans car wash and
[213]
my payroll expenses Verizon Wireless
[216]
bill so it shows you what these
[218]
recurring expenses are and oftentimes
[220]
people end up forgetting these because
[223]
they sign up for something and they
[224]
forget they signed up entirely and then
[226]
they're perpetually being billed in the
[228]
process so that is a really helpful tab
[231]
here showing you what your recurring
[233]
expenses are and also you know when you
[236]
should be expecting them to hit your
[238]
account so then you jump over to the
[239]
spending tab and in my opinion this is
[241]
the most useful part of the app for me
[243]
because not only does it show you how
[245]
much money you are spending but it also
[247]
breaks it up into different categories
[249]
to give you an idea of whether you're
[251]
spending a lot of money on groceries or
[253]
dining or whatever it may be so right
[256]
off the bat we can look at my spending
[258]
so far this month in January and I will
[260]
be honest with you guys after seeing how
[262]
much I've been spending in the last
[264]
couple of months it really has made me
[266]
aware
[267]
especially with things like the dining
[269]
and those discretionary expenses so it's
[271]
kind of a painful reminder of just how
[274]
much money you're spending on these
[275]
different things so here we are looking
[277]
at January so farm and my spending is
[280]
one thousand four hundred eighty seven
[282]
dollars and it breaks it down into the
[284]
different categories two hundred eighty
[286]
three dollars spent on dining one
[288]
seventy on groceries eighty one on
[290]
shopping forty seven on auto and
[293]
transportation and it does this for
[295]
every single month and you can look at
[297]
past data as well after you link your
[299]
account so for example it looks like I
[302]
spent a lot of money in December as most
[303]
of us do because of the holidays and it
[306]
shows me exactly where I spent that
[307]
money so three thousand dollars on
[310]
shopping fourteen thirty on dining and
[312]
drinks six thirty four on pets 562 on
[315]
groceries so it breaks it up into these
[317]
different categories so if you find that
[320]
your personal finances are kind of like
[322]
a leaky bucket where you have no idea
[324]
where your money is going something like
[326]
true bill can easily show you where
[329]
you're spending too much money and
[330]
what's also interesting is if you scroll
[332]
down to the bottom it'll show you where
[335]
your frequently spending money so in my
[337]
case I had a lot of Amazon purchases
[339]
because of Christmas so that was nine
[341]
hundred seventy seven dollars I spent
[343]
sixty-nine dollars at Dunkin Donuts and
[345]
four hundred fifty eight dollars at
[347]
Hannaford and it also shows you what
[349]
your largest purchases were and these
[352]
different recurring purchases that were
[354]
of a high dollar amount and so rather
[356]
than just having your money aimlessly
[358]
going one direction or the other it
[360]
gives you a very clear snapshot of what
[362]
is going on with your money now on top
[364]
of that there's a couple of other
[366]
features of true bill that you may want
[367]
to know about as a user of the app and
[370]
one of the most interesting ones is that
[372]
true bill offers a service where they
[374]
will negotiate on your behalf on some of
[376]
your bills now in particular this is
[379]
typically your telecom bills your
[381]
internet bill cable bill and things of
[383]
that nature and what they will do is if
[386]
you upload your bill and provide the
[388]
correct documentation they will reach
[390]
out to these providers and try to
[391]
negotiate on your behalf
[393]
now they offer paid plans with true bill
[397]
which come with some extra bells and
[398]
whistles but you do not need to be
[400]
using the paid plan in order to have
[402]
them negotiate your bills however there
[405]
is a charge for this service and what
[407]
they do is they keep 40% of any money
[410]
they are able to save you now you may
[412]
think okay that sounds like a high
[414]
amount but the truth is this is what I
[416]
call found money because it's money you
[418]
would never ordinarily get in the first
[420]
place because they're doing the legwork
[422]
for you because as much as we all
[424]
complain about our high cable bills and
[426]
internet bills very few of us are
[428]
actually willing to get on the phone or
[430]
chat with the people over the email and
[432]
actually negotiate that rate and what's
[435]
actually crazy to me is just how much
[437]
money you can save by using the service
[439]
so according to true bill the users that
[442]
take advantage of true Bill's features
[444]
see their bills decreased by over $60 a
[447]
month which is over 720 dollars per year
[451]
so if you take advantage of all these
[453]
features and you have them negotiating
[456]
your bills on your behalf you may see
[458]
some savings like this as well now
[460]
everything we've talked about so far and
[462]
everything I showed you in that app is
[464]
part of the free plan meaning you can
[466]
download the app right in the
[468]
description below and take advantage of
[470]
all these features however if you are
[472]
looking for some above and beyond
[474]
features these are all going to be
[476]
offered for a paid subscription and you
[478]
can pay for this on a monthly basis or
[480]
an annual basis so what does this get
[483]
you exactly well first of all the first
[486]
main thing it's going to get you is
[487]
automated cancellations so what that
[490]
means is that when true bill notifies
[492]
you of a recurring subscription if you
[494]
decide you want to cancel that
[495]
subscription you just click a button and
[498]
then true bill will cancel it on your
[500]
behalf whereas if you do not have the
[502]
paid membership you're going to have to
[504]
cancel that subscription on your own
[506]
another additional feature you get with
[508]
the paid plan is unlimited budgets and
[511]
unlimited spending categories which can
[513]
help you get a more granule look at your
[516]
finances whereas with the free version
[518]
there is a set number of budgets and
[520]
categories that you are allowed to use
[522]
another useful feature with the paid
[524]
plan is smart savings which allows you
[527]
to save money and set it aside right
[529]
within the app which can be extremely
[532]
helpful when tracking
[533]
overall finances another feature is they
[536]
offer a service where if you're charged
[538]
any overdraft fees or late fees they
[540]
will reach out to those financial
[542]
institutions on your behalf and try to
[544]
negotiate those fees because oftentimes
[547]
banks are willing to have a little
[549]
wiggle room there if you reach out to
[551]
them and ask them you know if you can
[553]
cut down the fee or eliminate the fee
[555]
especially if you've been in good
[557]
standing with them for a very long time
[559]
you also get premium chat which means
[561]
you have priority access to customer
[563]
service with true bill and the final
[565]
feature they offer is automatic fetching
[568]
of the data from your financial
[569]
institutions so if you use the free
[572]
version of the app they're only going to
[574]
update your account values whenever that
[576]
financial institution sends them that
[578]
data however with the paid plan they
[581]
will fetch that data as often as you
[583]
would like it giving you real-time
[584]
updates to your financial life so
[588]
overall guys I have found the true bill
[590]
app to be extremely useful and it's
[592]
honestly one of those apps where even
[594]
the free version is really good it often
[597]
annoys me when you download an app and
[599]
you're limited to what you can do
[601]
because everything else is behind a
[603]
paywall that is just not the case here
[605]
with true bill and I review a lot of
[607]
different apps on my channel and often
[608]
times I'll review them and then take
[610]
them off my phone
[611]
but I've personally found true bill so
[613]
useful especially with the different
[615]
spending categories that I'm actually
[617]
going to keep it on my phone and I'm
[619]
definitely going to be looking back at
[621]
it a couple of times a month just to
[623]
keep track of my spending so anyways
[625]
guys that's gonna wrap up this review I
[627]
hope you enjoyed it
[628]
like I said if you want to sign up for
[630]
true bill and support me for putting
[631]
this video together those links are down
[633]
in the description below but thank you
[636]
so much for watching and I will see you
[637]
in the next video
