[6]
- So Google has announced that it's launching a new tool,
[9]
to allow black-owned businesses
[12]
to identify themselves as such
[13]
and people search on maps and search listings.
[16]
Because a lot of times,
[17]
you know, one of the biggest things that people say is
[19]
you know, I wanna support support black-owned businesses,
[21]
but where are they?
[23]
How can I identify them?
[24]
So Google, which is one of the biggest search engines
[26]
in the world is gonna assist with that.
[29]
And I think that's actually a good thing.
[30]
Because, they say a month ago, the company placed support
[34]
to the black community with initiatives
[35]
and product ideas to support long term solutions.
[38]
And this is the first step.
[39]
And they say they are taken towards their goal.
[42]
Because we have seen a surge in support
[44]
for black-owned businesses.
[46]
And that is great because you know what?
[48]
Economics is the key.
[51]
Understand that.
[52]
We won't need symbolism, we need economics.
[55]
Economics is going to take black people out of the position
[59]
they're in, and put them in their rightful place.
[61]
This is why reparations is very important
[64]
because without economics
[65]
and without healing us economically,
[67]
we're not gonna be healed.
[69]
See, when you heal us economically,
[71]
we can heal every other problem that we have.
[73]
They say, oh, what about the healthcare issue?
[75]
with money we can fix our health.
[78]
Or what about the education?
[79]
With money we can fix that.
[81]
Anything you say, we can fix it with money.
[83]
And even if you say,
[84]
what about the emotional trauma that we have?
[87]
With money we can go to mental health experts,
[90]
and pay like we need to pay.
[92]
And go through our therapy
[94]
because black folks worldwide need therapy.
[97]
Because we have been through the worst of the worst,
[100]
whether you are in America, Latin America,
[101]
whether you are on the continent, the Caribbean,
[105]
all of us are dealing with trauma,
[107]
that we have not have been addressed.
[110]
Black folks coming out of slavery,
[113]
didn't go to mental health experts.
[116]
Because that trauma literally passed down
[119]
because you taught that trauma to your children
[122]
as normalized behavior for us as black people.
[126]
That's why even in 2020, when they talk
[128]
about the effects of slavery,
[130]
they mean the trauma of slavery literally was passed down,
[133]
of course, with the white supremacy terrorist violence
[136]
against black people backing that up.
[138]
That's why it has been passed down.
[140]
And when you are free from that trauma,
[143]
this system don't like you.
[144]
This system wants you to stay in a traumatic position.
[148]
So, when it comes to Google and the business
[150]
where you say, economics
[151]
is the most important thing ever guys.
[153]
Don't let nobody tell you economic...
[155]
Money don't mean nothing.
[157]
It tells me a lot about you.
[158]
You say money don't mean nothing,
[160]
because probably it mean that you don't have none.
[162]
And you don't understand the value of money,
[164]
which you know who understand the value of money?
[166]
Everybody else!
[168]
The Chinese understand it.
[169]
The white supremacists understand it.
[172]
Everybody understand it.
[173]
That's trying to come in your areas.
[175]
They understand completely,
[176]
what you telling them you don't matter.
[178]
Yeah, matter to the moment you get some money,
[180]
you show flaunting and let people know you got it.
[182]
So yeah, it matter.
[183]
Now lets says they wanna search your search to Google,
[186]
for businesses there'll be a badge
[188]
to represent all businesses that are black-owned.
[191]
Instead, a symbol will be a black heart,
[193]
over orange three stripe background, okay.
[196]
As business owners, will have to confirm
[198]
they own the business via mail or phone or e-mail
[201]
before the badge is applied, to their profile online.
[206]
They say will remains unclear at this point
[208]
how Google verify you're actually black.
[210]
They say back in 2018,
[212]
and say Google started implementing similar badges
[214]
for businesses display.
[215]
They are LGBTQ+ friendly.
[217]
And I say Google has seen a surge online searches
[220]
for black-owned businesses as consumers are looking
[222]
for outlets to support.
[223]
As Black Lives Matter movement continues
[226]
to grow bigger and more prominent.
[228]
Now Google also play a support
[230]
to Black Lives Matter by supplying 12 million in funding
[235]
to organizations working to address racial inequalities.
[238]
Now, I will say Google also apply funding
[241]
to black media as well.
[243]
Because you have black media right on your platform.
[245]
So it'd be very easy to apply funding
[247]
to help black media, build studios, hire staff, et cetera.
[252]
Let's say Google, we're one of those companies,
[254]
you could share some of that pie with us.
[257]
And we can definitely use that to grow and expand
[260]
to continue black media, right.
[263]
So they say Yelp, they say it's,
[265]
you know, Google's biggest competitor
[266]
for business list has already premiered as black-owned icon.
[270]
They said the most recent earnings report show that searches
[273]
for black-owned businesses increased by 2.5 million
[277]
over a course from May 25 to July the 10th
[280]
compared to years past.
[281]
So the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai,
[285]
says he's happy by the progress but warns
[288]
that there is much more to accomplish.
[291]
So, I can agree with that measure.
[294]
I mean, Google, like you say, are definitely one
[296]
of the biggest search engines.
[297]
So yes, to have that badge put on there,
[300]
and I will definitely go and look myself, right?
[303]
So, I can get involved and have a badge,
[306]
put on ours on Google.
[307]
So, that way people looking for a media company.
[311]
Hey, we are definitely one of the one's.
[314]
But, just want to just inform you guys
[316]
about this take of story and what's going on.
[318]
But leave me a comment in those things
[319]
about a situation with Google.
[321]
Definitely, trying to help black-owned businesses
[324]
be supported.
[326]
Because that's what black owned businesses need.
[328]
They need support.
[329]
And I'm a firm believer.
[330]
I'd rather us create businesses work for ourselves
[333]
and do for sales through economics.
[336]
Than begging for some program that the democrats would give.
[339]
