lot of videos about salesforce today we're going聽
to be going over how to start custom fiscal years聽聽

within salesforce um this is going to be a part聽
of my new salesforce admin course that will be聽聽

releasing on udemy in march of 2022 so if it is聽
past that you can go ahead and check that out聽聽

so i am going to go to the cog and go to setup聽
here we're going to see all the back end of聽聽

salesforce and the configuration things that聽
we can do i'm going to click out of all these聽聽

popups to have a clean workspace um and from聽
here i'm going to search for fiscal year okay

and we can change the fiscal year period this聽
is going to be a standard one but i'm going聽聽

to enable custom reasons why you'd want to enable聽
custom let's say that you were on education cloud聽聽

or you were wanting to create trimesters instead聽
of quarters that is how you would do custom聽聽

fiscal years however you cannot go backwards from聽
enabling custom fiscal years this org once it is聽聽

in custom fiscal years it will never be able to go聽
back this will affect reporting this will affect聽聽

quotas forecasts all those fun things so i'm going聽
to click yes because i know what i'm doing and聽聽

this is something that i'm showing you so聽
let's go ahead and enable custom click ok

all right so now it took us to classic聽聽

i am going to click new and then it will give聽
us a fiscal year structure and it will give us聽聽

different options and different templates and this聽
could help us so we could do the four four five um聽聽

the four five four five four four we could do the聽
13 periods in a year four weeks and a quarter um聽聽

really depending on what your organization really聽
needs um or we could go back to the standard聽聽

12 months in a year and have it be quarters聽
but once the customer is enabled you'll have聽聽

to go back and do all your quotas forecasting聽
reports quarters all those fun things so um聽聽

let's go ahead and keep on with the quarters i聽
am going to have the 445 and continue all right聽聽

and then we can choose a fiscal year start聽
date so let's say keep on with this example of聽聽

schools each school year starts in the middle ish聽
of august so i'm going to have this be the first聽聽

of course depending on where you are some places聽
start in january other places start in october聽聽

um growing up where i was is mostly september聽
or october but it's moving to august聽聽

so the fiscal year is going to start there聽
and we can choose a fiscal year name so if聽聽

this was school it's going to go over two years聽
all right it's gonna be 2022 2023 weekday start聽聽

is going to be there for the next school year聽
all right and we have different options we can

enable and go down week by week if we wanted to

um and enable different quarter聽
structures or weak structures聽聽

we could change the fiscal year structure again聽
going back to those different options that we had聽聽

for 13 weeks or four quarters or go聽
back to the georgian type calendar聽聽

from here i'm going to click save you can preview聽
or save new um but there you go we can change the聽聽

different quarters we could have it be fall聽
quarter or we could have it be winter quarter聽聽

if we wanted to change the different names of the聽
quarters or periods so you would just click edit

and then you'd go in and change聽
the different values there so聽聽

that is how you create a custom fiscal year聽
