[0]
hi ad I am the coal shooting her and
[3]
welcome to my house I've been living in
[15]
this house for not even two years now I
[17]
bought this house because when I walked
[19]
in it I saw this beautiful view because
[22]
I wanted a house with a view overlooking
[24]
Los Angeles but when I bought it there
[27]
was a huge wall here and there was a
[30]
little tiny sliding door there and a
[33]
window over here and I wanted people to
[35]
be able to see the view as soon as they
[37]
walked in so I opened everything up so
[40]
that just feels like a big nice open
[43]
living area
[44]
my house is split into four levels but
[47]
this is primarily my main level when I
[50]
took down that wall I needed storage
[52]
space so I built all of the storage over
[54]
here I'm very particular about woods and
[57]
grains of woods and stains of woods so I
[60]
made sure to get this exactly right how
[63]
I wanted it and I'm very particular
[64]
about marbles this is a particular
[68]
Calcutta it kind of looked like a
[70]
hummingbird when I found it and I put a
[72]
massive Island in I knew that I wanted
[75]
another elevated piece of wood here for
[77]
the island to add another texture the
[79]
chairs are essential they swivel and
[81]
they're soft leather ski sky when you're
[83]
entertaining or you're having dinner you
[85]
can enjoy the view and your friends so
[87]
it's a big fun area I really love this
[91]
piece this is a charred big maple leaf
[95]
wood one whole slab with anodized X's
[99]
bronze detail and I designed this with
[101]
guru one of my favorite companies out of
[104]
Brooklyn I love it because you could see
[106]
all the movement and the grains of the
[109]
wood and I know that live edge is pretty
[113]
cool but I wanted to make it a little
[114]
bit more modern so I kept the natural
[116]
live edge but then I wanted to make the
[118]
ends square and clean it's nice and
[121]
thick and its hella heavy and it's just
[124]
a stunning piece
[126]
that I love whoo-hoo to shout out teller
[128]
I love art and I love collaborating with
[134]
artists so a lot of the artwork in my
[137]
house is actually commissioned artwork
[138]
as another artist and a slight control
[141]
freak I'm like let's build something
[142]
together but this particular piece is my
[145]
favorite piece it's a pretty classic
[147]
retina if you look at the detail there's
[149]
actually a slice through the painting I
[153]
contacted him and I said what happened
[155]
and it's beautiful because his mother
[159]
actually sewed it together so I just
[161]
loved it and it kind of represents how
[163]
mom's always put things back together
[165]
and I know my mom is my everything and
[167]
it just is the pride of place artwork of
[170]
the home this is my den and this is
[174]
probably my favorite room in the house
[176]
because it's so cozy these couches you
[179]
could just sink into them forever this
[182]
is where I chill out and relax and hang
[185]
out with my girls or my family and just
[188]
talk and drink wine and watch the sunset
[190]
because the view is amazing
[192]
when I built this done I wanted to make
[195]
sure I had bookshelves cuz I feel like
[197]
bookshelves just adds so much more
[199]
warmth to the room I mean obviously
[202]
you've got a hug books and you have
[204]
pictures but on the very top shelf up
[207]
there it's a reflection of my heritage
[209]
it's actually my mother's who leaves the
[212]
red feather ones there I don't know like
[214]
Hawaiian maracas that you dance with and
[217]
do Tahitian with and then you have an e
[219]
poo a Hawaiian instrument made out of
[222]
dried squash that you pound on the
[224]
ground and make a beat and a rhythm I
[226]
love this room because I wanted it to
[228]
feel just very warm and inviting and
[231]
cozy when it's cold I put on the fire
[235]
and open the pocket doors watch the
[238]
sunset and I have wine I think it's
[241]
really special anyone who knows me knows
[246]
that I'm an extremely private person but
[249]
you guys are gonna get a sneak peek into
[252]
my
[252]
James oh come on uh before we go into my
[255]
bedroom we're gonna make a pit stop this
[257]
is obviously where my piano is I chose
[259]
this because I'm really up high here and
[262]
has a beautiful view and obviously I
[264]
love music it's my everything this is
[267]
just a really great place to play piano
[270]
play around with ideas and to sing and
[273]
prepare my material and songs and should
[277]
just let go
[277]
this actually is so weird cuz I never
[282]
see this is a big part of who I am
[286]
Whitney Houston was my idol growing up
[288]
and this album changed my life it's the
[290]
reason why I sing so just off the piano
[294]
room is my bedroom I have like three
[297]
different comforters on my bed because I
[299]
get very cold at night and kind of have
[303]
a problem sleeping sometimes weighted
[305]
blankets on you help you just sleep it
[307]
makes you feel like you're in the womb
[308]
kind of weird fact maybe that'll help
[311]
someone out there I actually grew up in
[312]
a really small house so I feel the most
[315]
comfortable sleeping in small bedrooms
[318]
and small spaces so I wanted it to feel
[321]
like a nook and just really cozy and
[324]
there's nooks on either sides with
[325]
outlets and stuff to charge your phone
[327]
I wanted my head we're really tall and
[329]
dramatic and this is one of my favorite
[332]
colors I feel like it's such a rich
[334]
beautiful color and that's made of
[336]
vintage velvet and I loved keeping
[339]
things really modern and classic and
[340]
clean but then adding a touch of the
[343]
tuft nails on the edge so it still feels
[345]
like warm and a bit traditional there is
[348]
a kind of a running theme within my
[349]
house with Gray's organic neutrals
[352]
keeping things really clean or having a
[354]
little bit of contrast like my fireplace
[357]
right here this is a special marble that
[359]
I found and I just love the subtle
[362]
movement within the marble probably the
[367]
best part about my bedroom is this big
[370]
old fat juicy yummy balcony I feel
[372]
literally like I'm on top of the world
[374]
when people come over they say the
[376]
higher you are up on the hills the
[377]
closer you are to heaven so I feel like
[379]
I'm up in the clouds up here
[381]
this is my bathroom I wanted it very
[383]
white and clean I put in Calcutta marble
[387]
floors my tub it's great it's nice and
[390]
big I open up my doors at night the
[392]
whole city twinkles I feel the breeze I
[395]
pretty much live in here it's my marble
[397]
steam shower I love love love steam
[401]
showers they make me really happy and
[403]
they're good for my voice when I'm
[405]
getting my voice all warmed up ready to
[407]
sign I decided that I needed one area to
[412]
wash my face skin care all that jazz
[415]
then I needed another area where I could
[418]
just sit down do my thought Shay and my
[421]
hair so that's where you come over here
[424]
and it's a full glam area it's awesome
[428]
plus I'm too lazy I got to sit down get
[431]
my makeup in here this is my theater I
[437]
designed it to just be like a little
[441]
hidden cave it's just such a great place
[446]
for my family and friends to just go and
[448]
hide away when you're watching movies
[451]
lights are out so we have little theater
[454]
lights so you can see where you're going
[456]
I don't really like theater chairs I'm
[459]
like if you're at home and you're
[460]
watching movies who wants to be in a
[462]
chair even if it reclines why not be in
[465]
like a big sofa bed so every single tear
[468]
has a big sofa bed and for all you long
[471]
humans out there all of my couches I've
[473]
designed to be seven feet deep so you
[475]
can fully get all up in here and just
[480]
like so in this theater I actually have
[484]
movies that I've either done been a part
[487]
of or movies that inspire me I've done
[490]
men in black 3 I died really early in
[492]
the beginning so if you go to the
[493]
bathroom or you sneeze then you'll miss
[495]
me I've done dirty dancing done wanna
[498]
what's up you lookin at Mona's mom seen
[500]
over here
[500]
Purple Rain inspires me so much these
[504]
are either musicals I've either been a
[506]
part of or I'm a fan of and everyone who
[509]
comes into this theatre I make them run
[510]
and jump up here
[514]
sink and then this sake it's just so
[517]
good this room was like a big ol hug
[520]
like a big old cave hug this is one of
[525]
my guest rooms and I love this bed in
[529]
particular this bed is actually called a
[531]
cloud bed I laced it with some Italian
[534]
linen a lot of times when you go to
[536]
other people's homes and if you're
[537]
staying there sometimes you like knock
[539]
your shin and stuff on wooden beds but
[541]
this bed is actually really soft as you
[544]
could tell I wanted it very
[545]
monochromatic and to keep it really
[548]
simple and clean and all of my balconies
[551]
pocket the house so every room actually
[555]
has a view and has its own unique view
[557]
of Los Angeles on a clear day you can
[560]
see all the way from downtown to the
[562]
beach this is my plaque wall it's a bit
[568]
hidden not many people see this area of
[570]
my house I do have it up because it does
[573]
make me appreciate some of the
[575]
accomplishments a lot of people know me
[577]
for the dolls and I loved my time with
[580]
the girls and especially the touring
[582]
around the world but a lot of people who
[584]
do know me know that I'm such a theater
[586]
nerd and love theater I go to the
[589]
theater anytime I can I love musical
[591]
theater and probably one of the things
[593]
I'm the most proud of it was actually
[595]
when I played Grizabella and cats at the
[598]
London Palladium yeah one of my proudest
[600]
moments I don't use that word very often
[602]
proud but it was a very proud moment and
[606]
I was casually nominated for an Olivier
[611]
this is my indoor/outdoor lounge I
[614]
designed this space for entertainment
[616]
I'm not home very often but when I am
[620]
home I like to stay home and have a few
[624]
friends over and barbecue I always want
[627]
everything in my house to be very clean
[628]
and chic but at the same time I wanted
[630]
everything you'd be really comfy this is
[632]
just a really great area to sink in and
[635]
watch movies at night as you gaze at the
[638]
city as I mentioned I'm all about
[641]
comfort so that's why I created these
[643]
custom-made lounges kind of like lounge
[646]
beds because I like to sprawl out when
[648]
I'm laying out and hanging out with my
[650]
girlfriends and over here we are
[652]
featuring the world's smallest pool I
[656]
live on a hill as you can see so I went
[661]
to the ends of the earth just to create
[663]
this little baby okay it's actually six
[665]
feet deep it's saltwater it heats up to
[667]
100 degrees on a hot day you can dip in
[669]
and at night it's nice to get in and
[672]
it's like a glorified jacuzzi okay
[674]
no sure Zee house is complete without a
[678]
swing
[678]
I knew building this house I had to put
[681]
a swing somewhere and what better place
[683]
with this view outside with my baby pool
[686]
this is my happy place and it's where I
[689]
just so wing all my cares away literally
[693]
all of those Los Angeles City of Angels
[698]
[Music]
[705]
all right avy thank you so much for
[708]
coming I hope you enjoyed the tour but
[710]
I'm about to have a screening party for
[711]
my premiere so you got to get on out of
[713]
here bye
[715]
