Texas Title Transfer SELLER Instructions - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[6]
all right let's take a look at how to fill out the Texas title when you are
[12]
selling a vehicle. Just remember titles are legal documents so don't make mistakes.
[20]
Don't erase anything or use whiteout. Don't cross or scratch anything out.
[24]
Write neatly with good handwriting. Only use black or blue ink. Use actual names.
[31]
No nicknames and just be real careful because any errors can void the document.
[37]
If you do need to give a replacement title, then there's a link in the
[42]
description that can lead you to instructions and links of the forms and
[50]
all that stuff that you need for that. But, assuming that you got the title
[55]
let's take a look at it. So, if there are any liens shown on the front the title
[60]
that are not released, you'll need to have it signed off by the lien holder or
[66]
obtain an original release document from the lien holder. Basically, You gotta show that
[74]
it's a paid off. So yeah, then on the back of the title, fill out
[81]
completely the upper block of information that says assignment of
[86]
title. Then, you'll print the buyer(s) name and complete address. Then fill in the
[95]
odometer reading in the space provided. Enter your mileage exactly as it appears
[100]
on your odometer and do not include tenths.
[103]
If the odometer does not reflect the actual miles on the car, then check the
[108]
box that says the "odometer reading is not actual mileage" warning odometer
[114]
discrepancy. Then you enter in the date of the sale. Then by the date, the seller signs
[124]
and prints their name or names on the two lines.
[129]
Make sure to print your name or names exactly as they appear on the front of
[134]
the title below owner. Don't use short names or nicknames. Use the actual name.
[141]
Keep in mind better when there's two registered owners listed on the title
[146]
you must check to see if there's an OR or nothing listed between the registered
[151]
owner's names. So, if there's an OR, then either registered owner can sign and
[156]
print their name and sell the vehicle. Otherwise, the signatures and printed names
[162]
of both registered owners are required.
[167]
Then the buyer signs and prints on the next two lines. Along with the buyer,
[178]
print and fill out the form 130-U. It's the application for Texas title and/or
[185]
registration. You and the buyer must sign. It can be printed from the resources
[190]
link from the description of the video.... you can find it there. Be sure to keep a
[197]
copy. It's their application but it's your record of the sale. If necessary,
[203]
you can go with the buyer to a Texas Division of Motor Vehicles office and
[207]
get it done. Then submit the vehicle transfer notification to Texas DMV. This
[216]
can be done online. You can find the link from the resources link in the
[222]
description. Then, finally, you keep your license plates and that's about it. So it
[231]
doesn't cover every situation but hopefully it'll get you going and give
[235]
you a pretty good idea what you need to do to fill out the title when you sell a
[238]
vehicle in the state of Texas. Alright have a good one.
[243]
Thanks
