[0]
if you're Canadian then you definitely
[1]
need to sign up for the my account from
[4]
the Canada Revenue Agency or CRA for
[7]
short I'll be going through the required
[10]
steps to register and log into my
[12]
account so you guys can follow along and
[14]
get your account set up super quick and
[16]
easy click the link in the description
[18]
box below and it will take it to the CRA
[20]
s home page which will look exactly like
[22]
the screen I'm on right now feel free to
[24]
pause this video now if you need to the
[26]
reason that you need to sign up for the
[28]
my account on the CRA site is because
[31]
you can get access to information
[33]
regarding your income taxes gst/hst
[36]
credit RRSP and TFSA details and on top
[40]
of that you can now apply to the Canada
[42]
emergency response benefit on here as
[45]
well okay so I'm gonna click on this
[47]
green button here that says sign in to
[49]
CRA account and you guys can do the same
[51]
but before we go any further this is a
[54]
Government of Canada website so they do
[57]
their best to ensure your privacy is
[59]
protected at all times I've been using
[62]
this account for such a long time now
[64]
and I've had no issues at all
[66]
alright so let's scroll down a little
[67]
bit here and I'm gonna click on this
[70]
green button here that says my account
[72]
because we're trying to create our own
[74]
individual my account with the CRA so
[78]
I'm gonna click on this button here now
[80]
if we scroll down a bit more it's gonna
[82]
give us three different options option 1
[85]
says sign-in partner login slash
[89]
register it sounds kind of weird but all
[91]
it's saying is that you can sign into
[94]
this and register using your online
[96]
banking credentials so if you have
[98]
online banking you can just sign up and
[101]
register using your online banking
[103]
credentials and that's it so option
[105]
number 2 is telling us to create a
[108]
separate username and password I'm not a
[111]
huge fan of this one just because I
[112]
don't want to remember another username
[114]
and password I already have online
[116]
banking so why not just use that and
[118]
login you know what I mean and then the
[120]
third option is going to be using a BC
[123]
services card now this is just gonna be
[126]
for British Columbia residents that have
[128]
a Services card so like I said option
[130]
number one is probably the easiest
[133]
way for you to register from my account
[135]
on the CRA as long as you have online
[137]
banking with one of these 15 banks now
[141]
if you don't then you're forced to go
[143]
with option number 2 which isn't
[145]
necessarily a bad thing the only
[147]
difference between option number 1 and 2
[149]
is that you have to create a separate
[151]
username and password other than that
[153]
the entire registration process is
[155]
basically the same thing so don't worry
[157]
I'm gonna select option number 1 but
[159]
before I proceed any further you're
[161]
gonna need four specific items to
[164]
complete this registration it's a
[166]
one-time thing
[166]
so let's just get it over with together
[168]
and get this account set up these items
[171]
will help validate and protect your
[173]
identity on the site first thing you'll
[175]
need is your social insurance number or
[177]
your SIM card then you'll need your last
[180]
year's tax return because they'll ask
[182]
for line number 101 then you're gonna
[185]
need to know your postal code and your
[186]
birthdate and if you don't have or know
[189]
any of these items then get up and go
[191]
ask your parents check your files take a
[194]
second and pause this video if you need
[196]
to I'll wait for you right here alright
[198]
I hope you have all the information that
[200]
you need now so I'm gonna get started
[202]
over here by going on to option number
[205]
one and I'm gonna put this big green
[207]
button that says sign in partner log in
[209]
slash register so now you gotta choose
[212]
one of the 15 banks that they provided
[214]
here that you do your online banking
[216]
with I do my online banking with CIBC so
[219]
I'm gonna start with that so after
[221]
putting in my online banking credentials
[222]
I will press sign on over here and then
[225]
it asks you to include your social
[228]
insurance number so we're gonna punch
[230]
that in as well press next and don't
[234]
forget that your privacy is also going
[236]
to be protected here now it's going to
[238]
ask us for our postal code so we can put
[240]
that in as well and date of birth put in
[243]
all the correct information because
[245]
that's the best way the government will
[246]
identify who you are and now you gotta
[249]
look at last year's tax return and look
[251]
for a line number 101 and input that
[254]
number over here and only put the dollar
[256]
amount so once you inputted all of your
[258]
information you can just press next now
[261]
if you didn't include any of the right
[263]
information
[264]
and they're going to call it as an error
[266]
and you're gonna have to start over
[267]
again if you did include the correct
[269]
information then they're gonna let you
[271]
proceed now the next thing they ask you
[273]
or the next thing that they tell you
[275]
over here is that they're going to mail
[277]
you a security code from the CRA this
[280]
security code is going to be delivered
[282]
by mail to your house in five to ten
[285]
business days so what we can do right
[288]
now is we'll press next
[290]
so this screen over here is going to ask
[292]
you to confirm that the postal code that
[294]
you provided was the correct one and
[296]
that's where they're going to send the
[298]
mail so I'm gonna press I confirm and
[300]
then I'm gonna press next at that point
[303]
it's going to give you limited access to
[306]
your my CRA account which is no problem
[308]
at all now you just gotta wait five to
[311]
ten business days until they send you
[313]
the security code once that happens you
[315]
can come back and you can enter the
[318]
security code with it that they sent you
[320]
right over here at that point you can
[322]
punch in the security code that you got
[323]
in the mail and it's going to look
[325]
something like this so once you get your
[327]
CRA security code in the mail then you
[329]
just input the number into the account
[332]
and then by then you'll have full access
[334]
to your my account and now we have
[337]
finally gotten full access to my account
[339]
with the CRA you'll be able to see all
[342]
of your important financial information
[344]
here like income tax stuff TFSA RRSP
[348]
details gst/hst credits and more
[351]
importantly you can apply to the canada
[353]
emergency response benefit or the CRB
[356]
using this account as well
[357]
it's good to have it all set up so that
[359]
you can see when the government is going
[362]
to pay you thank you again for watching
