Elon Musk offers to buy 100% of Twitter - YouTube

Channel: unknown

[0]
all right I'll start uh this is probably
[2]
this is pretty amazing and I I would say
[4]
unexpected because I didn't know what
[6]
the next move was we all heard that Elon
[7]
Musk was going to be a majority
[8]
shareholder and board member of Twitter
[10]
that was a few days ago we go into the
[12]
weekend we find out he's like forget it
[14]
don't want to be on the board and people
[15]
thought what's he gonna do next now we
[18]
know this allows him to buy all of the
[20]
shares if he wants to if he doesn't
[22]
serve on the board so he's making an
[24]
offer Dubai is making an offer to buy
[27]
Twitter acquiring all outstanding shares
[29]
of Twitter for
[31]
54.20 each so here's a direct quote from
[35]
the letters this is you that Elon Musk
[37]
sent to Twitter's chairman in an SEC
[39]
filing just this morning we just got
[41]
this news about a half hour ago it says
[43]
I invested in Twitter as I believe in
[45]
its potential to be the platform for
[48]
free speech around the globe and I
[50]
believe free speech is a societal
[52]
imperative for a functioning democracy
[54]
however since making my investment I now
[56]
realize the company will neither Thrive
[59]
nor serve this societal imperative in
[61]
its current form no kidding Twitter
[63]
needs to be transformed as a private
[65]
company as a result I am offering to buy
[68]
100 of Twitter for 54.20 per share in
[74]
cash a 54 premium over the day before I
[77]
began investing in Twitter and a 38
[79]
premium over the day before my
[81]
investment was publicly announced my
[84]
offer is my best and final offer and if
[87]
it is not accepted I would need to
[89]
reconsider my position as a shareholder
[92]
Twitter has extraordinary potential I
[95]
will unlock it this would give him total
[98]
control because Twitter would be a
[100]
private company we asked Laura Trump
[102]
about it because you remember Twitter
[103]
ban her father-in-law Donald Trump
[105]
listen
[107]
anybody that wants to Champion freedom
[109]
of speech and give people their voices
[111]
back it is the right way to go there are
[113]
so many conservatives like myself that
[115]
have not even bothered to get on Twitter
[117]
and so on I couldn't tell you Ainsley
[119]
the last time I tweeted because what's
[121]
the point if you're going to be censored
[122]
if you actually can't express what you
[124]
truly think so to have somebody stepping
[127]
up to the plate and saying you know what
[128]
we need to level this out this is our uh
[130]
the you know the Public Square of our
[132]
times as Elon Musk likes to say Twitter
[134]
and for so many of us we have said we're
[136]
not even going to bother with it anymore
[138]
the fact that you have terrorist
[139]
organizations that have allowed to stay
[141]
on been allowed to say on Twitter but
[143]
the former president of the United
[144]
States still is not on there absolutely
[146]
outrageous
[148]
so this could uh save that company it's
[150]
become more and more irrelevant the
[152]
thing is Twitter wasn't only do was just
[154]
Banning conservatives more and more
[156]
people that we know have been banned off
[157]
that platform under Biden's story right
[159]
over on that yeah that was part of that
[161]
that was everybody though too that was
[163]
Facebook that was Instagram so
[165]
I think he goes back and the first thing
[167]
he's going to do is establish Free
[169]
Speech there or how about not be biased
[172]
towards conservatives I even think
[173]
Democrats would tell you there's a bias
[174]
towards conservatives so what happens is
[176]
people just stop doing it they're done
[178]
with it yes but I also think on some
[180]
level do you think the president Trump
[182]
wouldn't even go back on I mean he's
[184]
about to launch truth social to give
[186]
does its own his own use his own uh
[189]
business plan to do a platform that
[191]
would include everybody it definitely
[194]
reshuffles the whole deck because what
[196]
with truth social or parlor or others
[199]
the idea was Twitter's gone so we need
[201]
our own ecosystem where conservatives
[203]
are allowed to speak and free speech is
[204]
allowed to happen no one was really
[206]
considering the fact that some
[208]
ideological billionaire who's more or
[210]
less a Libertarian could buy Twitter and
[213]
bring it back to its original Mission to
[216]
restore it to an actual uh Town Square
[218]
it's it's heartening some you know this
[221]
is the kind of thing that needs to
[222]
happen at universities that needs to
[224]
happen at lots of institutions in our
[226]
country Rich conservatives or just Rich
[229]
free thinkers and freedom lovers coming
[230]
in and saying I've got piles of money
[233]
Elon Musk has got piles of money he can
[234]
know he can afford Twitter I want to do
[236]
something big about the future of this
[238]
country that has blessed me so much so
[240]
let's see what happens if he is able to
[242]
buy it and take it private then you can
[243]
clean house because right now changing
[245]
the culture of Twitter it's not an easy
[247]
thing you gotta hear it everybody you
[248]
gotta get rid of everything and if they
[250]
don't accept the offer which they don't
[251]
have to what does he do does he buy more
[254]
shares to try a public know what he says
[256]
he says I'm going to reconsider my uh
[259]
I'm going to reconsider my ownership
[261]
stake uh my ownership stake in the
[263]
company does that means sell or buy
[265]
oh okay it couldn't I didn't I think
[268]
that I thought it was means he's out
[269]
which means the stock will tank you
[270]
could be right on that too well it
[273]
reminds me to your your train of thought
[274]
Pete when we look at the video of
[277]
Ukraine and they're not even reporting
[278]
on what's happening in Ukraine in Russia
[281]
because this dictator has control of all
[284]
of the media of everything that they see
[286]
and read and hear on the news in our
[288]
country capitalism this is an example of
[291]
capitalism he worked so hard he's very
[293]
obviously brilliant guy and created this
[296]
huge company that is helping the
[298]
environmentalist you know he's creating
[299]
these these cars that are electric and
[302]
he makes so much money on that and has
[304]
the power to buy this and take over and
[306]
I'm sure the employees are livid this
[308]
morning many of them might be quitting
[310]
their jobs not happy well we helped pay
[312]
for Tesla too with all the uh we did the
[314]
rebates so and he also goes back he also
[316]
does a favor by going to space and and
[318]
going back and forth to the space show
[319]
so he's got the best electric car and
[321]
he's got the best spacecraft but we're
[322]
at the point where are on Twitter if you
[324]
use the wrong gender pronoun right
[326]
you'll be banned right and the thing is
[328]
he's not conservative he's just not woke
[329]
correct Bill Maher is not woke he's
[331]
liberal he's just a normal person who
[334]
doesn't want to sacrifice everything
[335]
they know uh it just wants to go back to
[337]
the old days we used to argue about
[339]
issues not about what sex you are we
[342]
don't know by the way we don't argue
[343]
about that I'm not a biologist so I
[345]
don't trust that's right I shouldn't
[346]
even ask you that
