[73]
Let us move on to our first question
[76]
What is Bonus Act?
[78]
[Music]
[83]
Bonus Act's full name is Payment of Bonus Act, 1965
[87]
That means, this was started in 1965
[89]
by giving a yearly minimum bonus to employees
[93]
Second question: For which companies Bonus Act is applicable?
[97]
[Music]
[102]
All companies must meet certain conditions
[106]
to be eligible for the Bonus Act.
[107]
First condition: The company should be at least five years old
[112]
Next condition: Company should be profitable
[115]
Third condition: In the company,
[118]
there must be minimum of 20 employees
[120]
In addition, our third question
[123]
which employees are eligible for Bonus Act
[125]
whose companies are eligible for Bonus Act
[128]
[Music]
[133]
Salary of these employees should not be more than ₹ 21,000
[138]
& those employees should be present for minimum 30 days in 1 year
[143]
in the company
[144]
Fourth question: Eventually when will you receive the bonus?
[147]
[Music]
[152]
So friends, bonus of a financial year
[155]
following the end of the financial year,
[158]
must be received within 8 months
[161]
For example,
[162]
April to March is the financial year in your company
[165]
For you, bonus from April to March
[168]
must be received before October
[170]
For this reason, most of companies prefers
[173]
to give you bonus during Diwali
[176]
As Diwali falls near the month of October
[178]
Fifth question: Ultimately how much bonus you will receive?
[182]
[Music]
[187]
Bonus you receive is minimum 8.33% of Basic + DA wages
[193]
Suppose if your Basic + DA wages comes up to ₹ 5,000
[198]
Then 8.33% of it will be received as bonus for you
[202]
Small twist here is that
[204]
you won't receive 8.33% of Basic + DA always
[208]
Maximum ceiling set here is ₹ 7,000
[211]
according to amendment of 2015
[214]
Before that, the rate was ₹ 3,500 & it may raise in future
[218]
That means maximum 8.33% you get is only up to ₹ 7,000
[225]
If your Basic + DA total becomes more than ₹ 7,000
[229]
Lets say, it becomes ₹ 10,000
[231]
You won't get 8.33% of ₹ 10,000. But you get only ₹ 7,000
[236]
Let's understand this deeply through excel sheet
[239]
Let's get into the tutorial
[241]
[Intro Music]
[250]
So friends, this is our excel calculation sheet
[253]
Through which, for any one of employees
[255]
I'll show you how to calculate bonus
[256]
For your convenience, I will link this excel sheet in description
[262]
which you can download and calculate your bonus
[265]
If you are an employer,
[266]
you can calculate your employees' bonus using this sheet
[270]
Here, I will explain all the rules and regulation
[272]
also I will explain what are these numbers
[274]
Firstly, up here you can see employee name.
[276]
Mentioned your employee name here
[278]
Next, minimum wages,
[279]
what is minimum wages and why did I mention this?
[282]
Every state has its own minimum wages limit
[285]
If you have full time employees,
[288]
you must pay this amount at a minimum
[290]
For example, ₹ 5,720
[293]
Presently, in 2018, this is the minimum wages in Rajasthan
[296]
₹ 5,720 for unskilled worker
[298]
Similarly, different states have different minimum wages
[301]
For example, In Delhi it is nearly ₹ 13,000
[304]
Similarly for Maharashtra and other states
[306]
minimum wages are different
[307]
Next, I will discuss the importance of why I have mentioned it.
[311]
Next, Government Limit on Bonus is mentioned, which is ₹ 7,000
[316]
As I discussed before in this video
[317]
That this limit, according to the amendment of 2015 is ₹ 7,000
[321]
that is, Maximum limit of bonus is ₹ 7,000
[323]
is prescribed by the government
[324]
If someone's Basic + DA is more,
[326]
then he gets bonus on ₹ 7,000 only
[329]
Bonus Rate is 8.33%, which is a minimum rate
[332]
You must get this minimum bonus
[334]
You must get 8.33% of yearly Basic + DA
[338]
But this is not maximum limit
[341]
The companies can give 10%,12%,15% up to 20% bonus
[347]
Here, I have mentioned each months
[351]
I have copied here the government's limit
[353]
It comes from here, that means,
[354]
Suppose next year this limit becomes ₹ 7,500,
[357]
I will change it over here and it changes below as well
[361]
because I have used formula,
[363]
where I have used 'equal to' to this cell
[365]
Next, I have mentioned the minimum wages
[367]
For example, ₹ 5,720, which is copied from the cell over here
[369]
If I do changes there, changes will happen here as well
[371]
I have applied a formula here, listen attentively
[373]
Whichever is higher: It is possible in some cases,
[376]
For example, In Delhi minimum wage is more than ₹ 7,000
[382]
Suppose minimum wage ₹ 13,000 there
[385]
In this case, the bonus limit will be ₹ 13,000 instead of ₹ 7,000
[390]
that means, if your Basic + DA is more than ₹ 13,000
[393]
Then you must get full 8.33% of it as bonus
[396]
that means, whichever is higher,
[398]
If ₹ 7,000 is higher, then ₹ 7,000
[400]
or ₹ 13,000 or whatever is the minimum wage is higher
[403]
accordingly, you need to set minimum limit of minimum wages
[406]
Here, you don't need to think deeply.
[408]
Just mention the minimum wages of your state over here
[414]
It will choose whichever is higher between these two by itself
[417]
Next, here mention your gross Basic + DA
[421]
That means, if you were present all days,
[423]
the Basic + DA you receive
[424]
Here, I have mentioned ₹ 6,000 for first 6 months
[427]
₹ 8,000 next if the employee gets increment of 25% or 30%
[431]
so the salary has increased in next 6 month
[433]
Next, here present days in a month is mentioned
[437]
Count of days the employee was present
[438]
is required for salary calculation
[439]
Here you can directly mention net Basic + DA if you have
[443]
I have calculated it and mentioned here
[446]
Out of 30 days, how many days the employee was present,
[448]
I have mentioned here, present for 10 days out of 30 days
[451]
8 days out of 31 days
[452]
Here you can see, he wasn't present for even a day in 30 days
[454]
So no bonus received for this month
[456]
So net Basic + DA is mentioned & calculated here
[460]
Now, Salary for Bonus calculation
[462]
Suppose in any month, salary is ₹ 8,000
[467]
But for calculation, according to prescribed limit by government
[470]
₹ 7,000 should be used for the calculation of bonus
[473]
So here, ₹ 7,000 comes use for bonus calculation
[477]
Suppose in any month, salary is ₹ 3,097
[480]
But government limit is ₹ 7,000,
[482]
then entire ₹ 3,097 is used for calculation of bonus
[485]
Calculation of bonus is very easy
[487]
Whatever the bonus wages you are getting,
[490]
be it ₹ 6,000, ₹ 7,000 or ₹ 2,000
[491]
Calculate it's 8.33%. Here calculation is automatic
[496]
I have given formula for calculation here
[498]
If in any company, bonus rate is 10%,
[500]
I will change here and explain
[501]
And monthly bonuses in a year are added and total is shown here
[507]
I will play around with the numbers and explain you
[510]
If I changed to 10% over here,
[511]
See the bonus here changes from ₹ 4,635 to ₹ 5,565
[515]
If I increase the prescribed limit from the government,
[517]
and I change it from ₹ 7,000 to ₹ 7,500 or ₹ 7,200,
[521]
again the bonus limit changes here
[524]
So whatever the changes you do over here,
[526]
your prescribed bonus limit changes accordingly
[529]
I will be adding this excel as well
