Hey guys welcome back again to Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy where the proof is
[3]
in the singing. I want to do a vocal coach reacts to
[7]
Styx because man Tommy Shaw, Dennis DeYoung the whole band has just really
[12]
been a huge influence in my life, older stuff I know but hang in there
[17]
with me because I promise if you like dig into this stuff it's gonna matter to
[19]
you too, i you like what I do. And why this is important... I saw this band I'm
[25]
gonna say at least a half a dozen times over the years and every single, solitary
[29]
time I saw them they were a killer, I mean killer like Heart, I've seen them
[34]
a bunch of times like every time I saw them, it was like wow like as good if not
[37]
better than the original. So we're gonna dive in "Blue Collar Man", let's do it. Here
[41]
we go. Check it out.
[102]
That's where the whole band sings, it's like the Eagles right, everyone sings.
[105]
Everyone's got it in, there's no tracks going on. I'm beating the tracks thing up
[109]
dude guys, these guys no tracks, the whole bands singing. Everything is live, it's killer.
[113]
You know (sings). He's like, good placement in his throat, everything
[118]
is really really great. The other thing too is is that the musicianship is at
[123]
super, top level like wow, you know let's continue but I'm gonna, I'll make more
[128]
comments hold on.
[150]
Good energy man.
[158]
Rock star great.
[172]
Good stuff man.
[183]
Makes me wanna perform, makes me want to sing, makes me want to get out there and
[186]
just freaking do this man straight-up I'm not kidding.
[197]
His pitch is great man.
[207]
Good stuff.
[216]
So he's not only a great singer, he's a killer guitar player, like guitar was my
[222]
first instrument so I kind of came in from the other angle, I don't know his
[225]
story backstory but mine is, is that man I was a guitar player and then you know
[230]
I.. I didn't want to like wait on the singer so I learned how to sing, same
[234]
thing with him, you know I don't know if it's the same thing with him but for me
[238]
oh my gosh you know this guy is just like.. every everybody in the band Dennis
[242]
DeYoung all these guys are so awesome. Everybody's awesome. Let's continue, here
[246]
we go.
[258]
Running around, playing guitar like that.
[315]
The energy here is incredible guys, I'm telling you. These are old men, we're old
[319]
men I'm an old man what whatever so these, this is crazy. These guys are
[323]
throwing down, harder than 20 year olds that can't really seem to save their
[327]
life and they're just killing it, I mean killing it and they do this night after
[333]
night after night after night, it keeps him alive man.
[337]
Music is life, it's interesting, here we go.
[384]
Wow. Holy cow.
[388]
What the heck.
[396]
These are not twenty-year-olds, these are like.. probably in their 60s by now. They're
[401]
throwing down this hard guys. Oh my gosh, get a load of this. Holy cow so there's,
[406]
alright um I got a chance to be in a lot of different countries and one of them
[412]
was Argentina. I don't know the whole story, I'll try to look it up for you
[416]
guys whatever but my son played a lot of soccer and so he played for
[423]
Aldosivi, in the south of Argentina not the team but like their primavera division,
[428]
like you know you got to train with them basically and here's a story. So it's
[433]
kind of interesting. So it's called leaving it all on the field, leaving it
[437]
all on the field. So what was interesting is that um I heard a
[442]
story and I'll look it up, I'll try to find the reference Bob please - he's the guy
[446]
that helps me with like my descriptions and stuff, so anyway so we're.. entire
[451]
stadium left their shoes on the stadium, they left them all and they really
[459]
couldn't afford, it they weren't like really wealthy where I can leave my
[462]
shoes and walk off. No they were so disappointed in their team where they
[466]
left it all in the field.. their shoes because the team didn't leave it all on
[470]
the field and I'm like these guys are leaving it all on the field. It's like
[475]
crazy great. Can we do this again, I'm not kidding, can we like you know dig
[484]
in in a way where we're just like freaking out, this is great, they're one...
[491]
I'm gonna back this up one second - just before the whole end here check it out.
[495]
Watch this.
[516]
Dang.
[518]
One song not ten songs, not 15 songs one song.
[526]
Sorry I was gonna stop it.
[543]
No.
[556]
That's Dennis DeYoung he's .. wrote "I'm Sailing Away".
[569]
It's great.
[577]
That was not the closing song.
[583]
Okay guys guys I could do this all day
[585]
long, the.. this is just, this is how music happened, it's how it explodes, how we get
[590]
inspired to do stuff you know. We want to be great.
[593]
I'm just saying, they inspired me in a big time way, look at this concert. I'll
[598]
try to post that in the description as well but I want you guys to go oh my
[603]
gosh you know Ken, how'd you do this, how'd you do that.
[606]
I don't know cause I had these guys, all these guys, they helped me so much. I
[611]
can't even tell you.. um anyway God bless all you. Proof is in the singing
[616]
and until next time, peace out.
