and that keeps my file size way down and it makes聽聽

i said not me today let's get on to this video my聽
open options record keeper now i use this product聽聽

on a daily basis because i need to track聽
my trades now for those of you who know聽聽

me i do a ton of just simple strangles iron聽
condors and things that are open to closed聽聽

on specific dates they're really easy to track聽
but i also like to trade diagonal spreads where聽聽

i'm using a leap and and the long option takes聽
a long time to get rid of so what that means is聽聽

that i'm constantly selling short options against聽
those long positions and i need a way to track it聽聽

now it would be really simple for me to just write聽
it down in a notebook i could just write down my聽聽

credits per trade but i've actually developed a聽
spreadsheet that i use on a regular basis because聽聽

it allows me to communicate with my patrons聽
directly they can see what trades i have on聽聽

they can see the adjustments that i've made and聽
it also helps me a time because i can actually see聽聽

visually the the tent the profit tent that we聽
create when i put on a trade and that's really聽聽

what i'm going for when i'm making an adjustment聽
i'm i want to make sure that i'm getting the most聽聽

potential profit out of every trade based on the聽
relative price of the stock or the stock movement聽聽

so what ends up happening is i have a ton of聽
trades on and this data gets big and at the end聽聽

of each month i i have to clear it out so what聽
i'm going to do is i'm going to show you how i聽聽

make a copy of my spreadsheet so i keep all the聽
data that i had for the closed trades and i move聽聽

on and i start with a fresh new sheet that has聽
only my open positions in it it's pretty slick聽聽

and i'll show you the quick way to do it so what聽
i'm looking at here is my november sheets so these聽聽

are the trades that i had on and was were closing聽
during the month of november and then i have all聽聽

of my open ones down below you can see the closed聽
ones are green up at the top we can see a little聽聽

summary in columns u and v we can see that there's聽
uh 33 closed trades and there's 109 active trades聽聽

so this is what i want to get rid of i don't聽
need to continually look at these close trades聽聽

it's just slowing down my spreadsheet so i want to聽
delete those and just leave the active trades and聽聽

it's pretty simple to do now before i show you how聽
to delete them i just want to show you the open聽聽

options summary it's also going to delete all of聽
the data in this and that's part of why i do this聽聽

is because i'm just tracking as i go whether or聽
not i've opened enough trades you can see in the聽聽

first week october 31st to november 6th i opened聽
11 new trades and i closed nine for profit and聽聽

closed two for a loss so you know this is pretty聽
typical 11 new trades four for profit one for a聽聽

loss we can see in the month 67 new trades 24 for聽
profit nine for a loss a total close trades of 33聽聽

once we've deleted all of these sheets they will聽
this will be blank there will be no closed trades聽聽

and i'll change the date on the new file now they聽
also highlight in green the ones that are closed聽聽

and what i want to do is i want to just delete聽
them because every single one of those closed聽聽

trades is taking up a sheet down at the bottom聽
that i can flip to so the very first thing i need聽聽

to do is i'm going to make a copy and it's pretty聽
simple i just go up here to file and then i say聽聽

make a copy then it's going to say copy of and if聽
i'm moving into december i would just call this聽聽

2021 12 and then i would click ok now that's聽
just going to take a quick minute but because聽聽

i'm making a copy of this it's going to be聽
a brand new file so i can then go in and聽聽

delete all of the closed files or all the closed聽
sheets and i'll show you quickly how i do that聽聽

you can see pretty easily they're all in green and聽
i could use the link i could click on the first聽聽

file i could look at the file i could right click聽
and say delete and say yes to delete this sheet聽聽

and then it would be gone and i would go back to聽
the my days to enter days to expiration sheet and聽聽

you would see that this reference line would be聽
gone i could do that pretty easily but there's聽聽

actually a faster way to do it and that's actually聽
just click through because when a trade is closed聽聽

you'll see as i go through these i'll get to a聽
trade that's closed and it's it will show green聽聽

so there you go i know this one's closed so i聽
just hit delete hit okay and then i continue聽聽

through to the next one i'm just clicking on each聽
trade and i'm looking for the ones that are closed

ah here we go here's another one that's closed聽
we're going to right click on that and just choose聽聽

delete and that's as simple as it is so now i'm聽
going to jump ahead i'll show you what this is聽聽

doing so we'll take a look at what this is doing聽
instead of doing it clicking on them one at a time聽聽

here i'm just going through these and at the end聽
when i get to the very back end all of these green聽聽

ones will have no reference anymore i'm just going聽
to show you one more thing and that's the open聽聽

options a to z because this file just updates聽
itself with all of the tabs that are available聽聽

so these green ones are just going to disappear聽
once i've deleted the sheet and it will reduce the聽聽

number of closed trades down to zero so just to聽
recap i'm clicking through i'm finding green files聽聽

and then any that are green i'm just going to hit聽
delete now they're in my previous old november聽聽

file so that's fine i can just go back and look聽
at those trades anytime i want but i don't need聽聽

them active right now in the current month and聽
because i trade so frequently i just don't need聽聽

a list that's so big anyways i'm going to jump聽
forward you guys get the idea of this i'm going聽聽

to jump forward to the end and we'll take a look聽
at what it looks like once they're all cleared off聽聽

all right so i've gotten to the very end of that聽
and you can see that this top section these all聽聽

just have references that go nowhere anymore but聽
my active trades are still here if we look at the聽聽

top i've still got 109 active trades i just have聽
zero closed trades what i'm going to do now is i'm聽聽

going to delete this data that's over in these聽
cells and that's going to free it up and i can聽聽

enter new data now one of the things i don't do聽
is i don't select and delete the lines because i聽聽

actually want the code there for my for next time聽
or for new entries so i'm just going to go over to聽聽

column r and we're going to i'm going to select聽
all the cells so i just select the bottom one聽聽

i scroll up to the top i hit the shift key聽
and i select them and i just simply hit the聽聽

delete key and that's just going to delete the聽
data so there's nothing in any of these cells聽聽

anymore i'm going to do the exact same thing in聽
all of the cells in column c below roll row 4聽聽

so cell c4 down to whichever ones i want to delete聽
so i'll show you that select here the bottom one聽聽

in this case c36 and then shift and select聽
and then just hit the delete key and so what聽聽

that does is it just it makes them all look聽
blank now the code is still in each of these聽聽

if we look up here there's there's still code in聽
all of those they're just now blank so what i can聽聽

do now is just sort because these are now blank聽
cells they're just going to rotate down to the聽聽

bottom if i just click the sort button it's going聽
to run the script and what's going to happen is聽聽

it's going to resort these all into a date order聽
oh this is interesting i actually see a little聽聽

mistake in here so i'll show you something else聽
you see this is showing january 21st 21 that's聽聽

because it always tries to put the current year聽
in so i'll show you quickly how to change that聽聽

we just go over to this file just double click in聽
the cell and and hit the backspace key once and聽聽

just change that to 2022 and hit enter then it'll聽
have the correct date and when you go back here聽聽

and then when i click this button sort by聽
expiration date so now i only have open trades聽聽

so if i go over here it's showing one closed聽
trade that's a bit weird which one is it trying聽聽

arc unicorn click and refresh this 109 active聽
trades zero closed trades there we go that's聽聽

it that's as simple as it is so now i'm ready to聽
go that took me a few minutes and now i only have聽聽

a sheet that is dealing with my open trades oh聽
actually there's one more thing i need to show聽聽

you oh i always forget these little things let's聽
go back to this and let's jump over to the options聽聽

a to z we scroll over to the left i just have to聽
update the date so i usually start with whatever聽聽

date is immediately following this so it's usually聽
a sunday that i start so i'm just going to type in聽聽

this cell and i'm going to say december 5th so聽
i can just choose it on here sunday december 5th聽聽

and then it will automatically update and聽
now any of these trades that are active now聽聽

as they get closed they will populate into this聽
monthly total and i can go back and look at聽聽
