you man God is really with you one of the ways the聽

you got to notice your front windshield is a large聽
window the rear view mirror is a small window on聽聽

purpose there is no point in spending your time聽
looking in the rear-view mirror of your life聽聽

back there a whole bunch of mistakes聽聽

a whole bunch of things you should have never聽
said should have never did decisions you that聽聽

were not of God even if you thought they were聽
at the moment you thought this is so wonderful聽聽

there's no need of you spending聽
your time in the rearview mirror聽聽

your gaze is in the rear view mirror聽聽

imagine somebody driving their car and they're聽
spending their whole time looking in the rearview聽聽

that's a disaster waiting to happen and it as it聽聽

is in driving so it is in your life you cannot聽

I came to tell you God how many folk聽
would qualify for those blessings

I came to tell somebody God loves you so much he聽

to look at a new promise the new promise is聽

every time you get into a car and see the vast聽

reminded that God is saying where you were聽聽

as where you're headed聽聽

looking through the rear view mirror

we steer our lives at where our lives are聽

took place or we focus on a past mistake we're聽
constantly thinking about a stupid decision聽聽

that I made or a relational breakdown something聽
that just didn't work a lot of people go through聽聽

life looking through the rear view mirror so聽
listen you're either going to move forward聽聽

stand still or fall backwards God is going to聽
make available to you the power to move forward聽聽

because he's got yet promises for your future聽
and just because you had an unfair past聽聽

does not mean you have to have an聽
unfair future you're gonna break through

been bothering you in your life聽聽

get past it see if God wakes you up in the morning聽
it's a sign from God that he ain't through with聽聽

that is he didn't got you past whatever it was聽聽

comes to living your life it's okay to look聽聽

it is more important that you spend more time聽聽

looking ahead at what's in front of you than聽
what is behind you when you find yourself聽聽

yourself feeling like you're just overwhelmed and聽聽

feel really overwhelmed with life with work maybe聽聽

your spiritual whatever it is wherever you聽
feel overwhelmed my friends it is a good time聽聽

to remind yourself to look up because what聽
lies ahead of you is greater than whatever聽聽

you leave behind it is a good time to remind聽
yourself that with God on your side your future聽聽

is brighter than your past God will close up聽
your past if you're willing to move forward

because you have to understand you're either聽
going to grab onto this and let go of your future聽聽

or you're going to grab onto your future and let聽
go of your past you only can have one only one聽聽

and so God is saying it's time to anchor your聽
life in your future don't anchor your life in聽聽

your past because as soon as you do it'll put you聽
in a rut and your past is going to define you you聽聽

might have had an unfair past you don't have to聽
have an unfair future if God got you through it聽聽

it's done move on how many times have we聽
as people allowed God to get us through聽聽

something get us beyond something get us聽
over something get us through something聽聽

and then even after its completion we sit there we聽
dwell on it and we dwell on it to the point where聽聽

it becomes an anchor around our neck and we聽
can't move on because we just won't let it go聽聽

it's done if God got you through it it's done聽
move on stop harboring on the past stop hanging聽聽

on to every time you fail stop hanging on聽
to every time you slipped up and messed up聽聽

stop hanging on to every time you didn't get it聽
right everybody makes mistakes everybody messes up聽聽

everybody don't get it right everybody's聽
struggling with something it's way more聽聽

important where you're going than where you've聽
been don't you see that that's why the rear view聽聽

mirror is so small because it is nowhere near聽
as important as it is as to where you're going聽聽

that windshield is for vision a man without a聽
dream or vision shall perish that windshield聽聽

is for somebody going somewhere that windshield聽
for somebody up there trying to make another move聽聽

now if you keep looking in the rearview聽
mirror you'll never know how close you are

mirror if God got you through it it's done聽聽

move on anchor your life in your聽
future don't anchor your life聽聽

in your past because that'll always be tethering聽
you and pulling you back anchor your life and your聽聽

future and that'll give you the power to move聽
forward see if you don't if you focus on the聽聽

things of your past you'll start to get defined聽
by your past your past is going to define you聽聽

well what do you mean you'll always be thinking聽
of yourself as oh I'm the guy that was divorced聽聽

twice or I'm the guy whose kid ran away or really聽
messed up oh I'm the guy that made that stupid聽聽

decision I'm the guy that has that addiction and I聽
struggled with it for long for so long I'm the guy聽聽

that had his house foreclosed on and and uh聽
just so hard I'm the guy and pretty soon your聽聽

past action defines you listen very carefully聽
your past is either gonna define you or you聽聽

can define your past it's up to you you say what聽
do you mean define your past did you know that聽聽

it's not your past that messes your聽
life up it's how you define your past聽聽

think about it this way you can have two聽
couples they both have the same setbacks聽聽

same financial uh breakdown the same problem with聽
the foreclosure but one rises above it and the聽聽

other falls beneath it was it the circumstances聽
no it was how they defined the circumstances聽聽

do you believe that God is wanting to work all聽
things together for good to those who love God聽聽

and are called according to his purpose how many聽
of you believe that scripture okay all right so聽聽

God is working all things for what good Genesis 50聽
and verse 20 what the devil meant for harm I have聽聽

turned for good how many of you believe God wants聽
to turn everything in your past for good okay聽聽

so that's what God is trying to do I think it's聽
high time we cooperate with God and not the devil聽聽

because the devil's come to steal kill and to聽
destroy so he's going to work everything against聽聽

you and God is trying to work everything in your聽
past even negative things for you now who are聽聽

you going to cooperate with because God is a God聽
of the future and it's time for me to let go of聽聽

the past if I want to lay hold of the future and聽
that's why Paul says in the book of Philippians聽聽

forgetting what lies behind I press forward to聽
what lies ahead I'm not going to lead my life聽聽

through the rear view mirror I'm going to look聽
through the windshield why that I might apprehend聽聽

that for which God has apprehended me for I want聽
those to come together to not be defined by how聽聽

many times we fell I want us to be defined as how聽
relentless we've been in getting back up again to聽聽

move forward now listen to what Paul says but one聽
thing I do forgetting what is behind and straining聽聽

toward what is ahead I press on toward the goal to聽
win the prize for which God has called me heaven聽聽

word in Christ Jesus now here here's what I want聽
us to see my friends where was Paul's attention聽聽

what was he focused on he was he stayed focused聽
on what's next he was focusing on what lied ahead聽聽

even though he had experienced great victories聽
and great lows in his life he was not focused聽聽

on the great victories of the past he was聽
not focused on the hard seasons of yesterday聽聽

he was focused on what's next one of the ways that聽
you and I can overcome and can win the struggle聽聽

against negative thoughts is by looking ahead聽
is by focusing our attention not on the problem聽聽

that we're going through and not on the pain聽
and the suffering of our pain of our yesterday聽聽

but instead to look up and know that there's聽
still something good that is in front of us聽聽

to stay focused on what's next stay focused on聽
what's next what does Paul say he says I press on聽聽

to take hold of it when we are pressing on our聽
life when you are moving forward and pushing聽聽

on the gas pedal moving forward truly focus on聽
all that God has for you Paul the most famous聽聽

pastor he's reminding us that in our life there聽
might have been hard times there might have been聽聽

traumatic years there might have been years聽
where you feel personally victimized or there聽聽

might have been someone who's really hard to get聽
along with a time where you had struggles and pain聽聽

and can you just stay fixated on that can you just聽
stay fixated on the past looking at the rear view聽聽

mirror Paul looks at the church in Philippi and聽
he says press on stop looking behind look ahead聽聽

keep pursuing Jesus and moving forward don't聽
give up or give in he says don't you realize聽聽

that your rear-view mirror is smaller than your聽
windshield why because in our life you are only聽聽

meant to glance at the past not to stay there聽
out of the time in your life spend one second聽聽

out of 30 seconds glancing at your past learning聽
learning from it allowing it to help guide you聽聽

and continuing to press on Paul actually tells us聽
that in order to do this he says forget your past聽聽

Paul clearly references his past many times in聽
the bible he says this is who I was but it's not聽聽

who I am my sin my failures those things don't聽
define me it's the grace of God that defines who聽聽

I am and who I will be Paul says forget your past聽
and look forward I don't stay fixated I don't uh聽聽

just play it over and over and over again in my聽
head and I don't pretend like it never happened聽聽

I glanced back realizing that my rear view mirror聽
is smaller than my windshield and my past has聽聽

passed my future is before me one day this is all聽
going to be gone and not matter anymore what are聽聽

you doing to make the future the best that it聽
can be I want to encourage you today to have聽聽

a windshield mentality have a windshield mentality
stay focused on what's next one of the things that聽聽

we know about God is that God is progressive that聽
God the bible says that God wants to take us from聽聽

glory to glory from victory to victory what does聽
that mean that means that there's always something聽聽

good on the horizon that means that that you may聽
be in a hard moment right now you may be feeling聽聽

overwhelmed today you may not even know why you聽
are where you are today but you can look up and聽聽

know that there's something good that lies ahead聽
tomorrow the bible says this in 1st Corinthians聽聽

chapter 2 it says that no eye has seen no ear聽
has heard no mind has been able to imagine聽聽

what God has prepared for those who love him聽
what is God saying what lies ahead is good聽聽

what lies ahead of you is greater than what聽
