[6]
Hi, I'm Peter, again.
[8]
And now we're going to talk about stocking.
[10]
[Music Playing]
[13]
Stocking is so important...
[15]
to make sure that we don't have out-of-stocks,
[18]
or that we don't have out-of-stocks that are in the store,
[21]
that aren't... that could be stocked on the shelf.
[24]
This one here has one item on the shelf.
[26]
If somebody was to buy this, it's an out-of-stock.
[29]
So it's good to go through the back-stocks,
[31]
and work the back-stock,
[33]
and make sure that if this is in the store, we stock it.
[35]
So that, if the customer was to buy this one, there's another one behind it.
[40]
[Music Playing]
[43]
Why is rotation important?
[45]
The products that we sell are all natural.
[48]
There's no preservatives, no colors,
[50]
no artificial sweeteners...
[52]
It's just natural products.
[54]
The shelf-life on the products, generally, is
[56]
not that long.
[58]
Three to six months in some cases.
[60]
We want to make sure we always have the freshest product
[63]
on the front of the shelf.
[64]
And the product with a lot longer date,
[67]
behind, in the back.
[69]
So, rotation is very important,
[70]
to make sure that we have the freshest product,
[73]
on the shelf.
[75]
[Music Playing]
[78]
We have backstock in many places within the store.
[81]
There's a backstock room,
[82]
generally, in most stores.
[84]
And there's backstock on the aisles as well.
[86]
We have singles...
[87]
on the top stock here.
[89]
And we have a top stock shelf.
[91]
[Music Playing]
[93]
So, when we come to stock,
[94]
we start with the singles shelf first.
[98]
We want to stock all these before we stock the cases.
[101]
You don't want to be opening cases,
[102]
and have a lot of product on here in the same item.
[105]
So, we start with the singles.
[107]
So, generally, you take the first item on the shelf.
[109]
You bring it down, and you look at it,
[111]
and see if you can find it on the shelf.
[113]
So, this item here, is right here.
[116]
Always check the dates when you're stocking...
[119]
Ok?
[120]
So the date on this one is February, 2016.
[124]
And we're going to check the date on this one here.
[126]
February, 2016.
[128]
They probably came in on the same case.
[130]
And after you work through all the singles,
[133]
make sure you front-face the top as well.
[136]
Just like that...
[139]
[Music Playing]
[141]
Ok, now we're going to look at the top stock cases,
[144]
which is the very top shelf.
[145]
And as you can see, these are all full boxes.
[148]
Full cases.
[149]
So we're going to start on this side,
[151]
here at the end here,
[152]
and see if we need this.
[153]
This is Guayaki Traditional Yerba Mate tea.
[157]
So, I'm going to find it on the shelf.
[159]
It's right here.
[160]
And, as I look,
[161]
this is the only bottle on the shelf.
[163]
So we don't want to stock a case,
[165]
unless we can stock more than a half a case.
[168]
So that would probably be about seven jars.
[170]
If you can stock seven, you should open the case.
[172]
Sometimes only six might fit on the shelf.
[175]
And at that point, you're going to have to stock the case.
[178]
So this one here,
[179]
we can fit six on the shelf only,
[181]
all the way to the back.
[182]
So we're going to stock the case,
[183]
because there's only one on the shelf.
[185]
We need to get our ladder out,
[187]
to get the case down.
[189]
Open your ladder up completely.
[190]
Make sure these...
[192]
these things are completely flat and tight.
[196]
And fit smoothly on the ground.
[199]
Ok?
[199]
So we're going to grab the case,
[202]
and bring it down.
[204]
Then you want to put your ladder back,
[206]
so it doesn't take up too much space on the aisle.
[208]
[Ladder Folding]
[211]
Ok, most boxes require you using your box cutter.
[215]
So, it's always good to have in your pocket.
[217]
You always want to cut away from you,
[219]
not towards you.
[220]
So we're going to cut this one.
[221]
Right here in top...
[222]
and cut away from you,
[223]
in that direction.
[224]
You don't want to be cutting anything towards you.
[226]
You might cut yourself.
[228]
Ok, so always check the dates,
[230]
before you stock.
[231]
This one here is September, 2016.
[234]
And check and see what you have on the shelf.
[237]
This is June, 2016.
[240]
So, this June one has to go in front of the September one.
[245]
So, we're going to stock the September ones first.
[248]
[Bottles Clinking]
[250]
Then this one goes in the front of all that.
[253]
Ok, so now we have six bottles left over,
[256]
that we're going to have to put on this single shelf.
[258]
We'll get our ladder out here...
[261]
[Ladder Opening]
[262]
and find a spot to put it.
[266]
Always want to front and face up here as well...ok?
[269]
Keep this looking nice.
