I can't draw. Can you help me with free solutions?
[2]
I don't have money.
[3]
Do I have to draw my character
[5]
cause I have a problem I can't draw and I don't have money.
[8]
So what do I do? YAMETE-STOP
[9]
You don't need to know how to draw in order to make a character sheet.
[13]
You just need to know the stuff that you got taught in kindergarten,
[16]
which are your shapes, your colors and your numbers.
[19]
And if you don't know how to do that, are you even old enough
[22]
to be watching this video? Hi Bobas, Welcome to my channel.
[25]
I'm Mari, And today I'm going to show you
[27]
how to make a character sheet for your vTuber.
[29]
And don't stress. It's totally OK if you don't know how to draw.
[32]
You honestly don't need you, because once you're done with this video,
[35]
you'll have a filled out character sheet that you can either make a 3-D model
[38]
or you can hire a commissioner to make a Live2D model.
[42]
So what do you need in order to have a character sheet
[44]
if you don't need to draw?
[46]
Well, you can make a whole description of what your character
[49]
looks like and their personality traits or their lore.
[51]
You can also use reference images to kind of give a general idea
[55]
or a mood of what you want the character to look like.
[58]
There's a lot of very creative things that you can do that doesn't
[61]
actually require for you to have any drawing skills.
[64]
So why don't I show you how to do all of that?
[66]
Why don't we start with finding some reference images first? OK.
[69]
So Pinterest is a great way to find reference images for literally anything.
[74]
I use Pinterest all the time to find art references, and I use Pinterest
[78]
when I was trying to create some reference images for my new OC.
[82]
All right. Now, if you've never used Pinterest before, don't fret.
[84]
It's totally fine.
[85]
You just click the little sign up
[87]
button up tab and you can fill all your information right here.
[89]
But if you don't really feel like, you know, doing the email
[92]
and the password or whatever, you could honestly connect
[94]
to your Facebook or connect it through your Gmail.
[96]
I personally like doing it through my Gmail. It's a lot simpler.
[98]
It's literally just a one click.
[100]
And there you go. You just sign in and you're all set.
[103]
All right. Once you have an account on Pinterest,
[105]
you're just going to go up to the search bar
[106]
and you can literally type in anything that you want a reference of.
[110]
Now, if you've been using Pinterest for a while, they'll start to give you
[112]
a little ideas for you based off of the things
[114]
that you've been looking at and stuff that you're interested in.
[116]
But if you're a new account, chances are you're going to see what's popular
[119]
or like whatever interest that may pertain to
[123]
what you've been browsing on the Internet.
[125]
That's just how cookies work. Anways,
[126]
Just type in the search bar character sheets and then we're going to press.
[130]
Oh, no. Hold on. I actually liked.
[132]
Hold on. I liked the - the little template right there.
[134]
And then you just kind of see what pops up.
[136]
You will have a lot of various images that you can kind of scroll through
[140]
and just take a look at and just I don't know, see what you like.
[143]
Let's see. I think I kind of like this one. Let me see this.
[147]
Yeah. So I really like this.
[148]
Now, if I want to save this,
[150]
look at later, I just click on the save button and congratulations.
[153]
You just did your first pin.
[155]
Now, if you're someone who doesn't like
[156]
to live their life in a chaotic mess like me,
[159]
then you might be interested in clicking on the little arrow
[161]
that's next to the save and then creating a pin board
[164]
to help organize your pins better.
[165]
You could literally make one and just label a character sheet.
[168]
So anytime that you're looking at specific OC references,
[171]
you could have saved them all there and you'll have everything so much
[174]
more organized because you can categorize so many pins like this.
[178]
I have some pin boards for some art references, body poses, emotes
[182]
and a whole bunch more.
[183]
OK, so hopefully you've taken the time to look at Pinterest and you found a
[187]
character sheet that you like.
[189]
Now you can use it as a guide to write down some details
[192]
of what you want your character to look like,
[193]
what their personality traits are, any cool quirks
[196]
or lore about them, and more so get to writing babas.
[200]
OK, now let's take one of these templates and start making our own vTuber
[204]
reference sheet.
[205]
You can either print the template and then fill out the info
[208]
or you can take the image
[209]
and open it in whatever editing program you have and type or scribble the info on.
[214]
Or you can honestly just write down your ideas in a notepad somewhere.
[217]
I think describing your OC as much as you can will be helpful,
[221]
because if you're forgetful like me, then you're going to struggle
[224]
describing your vTuber to any artist you want to commission later on.
[227]
I'm a visual learner, so having some kind of guide that I can reference
[232]
to when creating someone's Live2D or character sheet is so helpful.
[236]
I kid you not. I have drawn a few character references where I was
[240]
basically given just a few images and some word descriptions.
[244]
And this made me struggle so much when designing the character,
[248]
because I had to guess what the commissioner wanted.
[251]
And this caused me to have to go back and redraw a lot of things, which is honestly
[256]
a pain, and kind of a waste of my time, since I don't charge by the hour.
[260]
Now, compare that to someone who had commissioned me
[263]
and they had a whole detailed Google document sheet describing their vTuber.
[267]
This made it so much easier and faster for me to draw their vTuber.
[272]
So instead of taking a whole month
[274]
to draw someone's character, it literally took me just a week.
[277]
Your words are your powers, Bobas.
[279]
So use them. You and your artist will be thankful for it.
[282]
OK, now that I have some descriptions of my character reference
[286]
sheet filled out, let's go back into Pinterest
[289]
and find some images that I can just paste into the Google documents.
[292]
This will give the artist or myself a better indication
[295]
of the aesthetic that I'm looking for in terms of my vTuber avatar.
[298]
Having images will give.
[300]
A much better indication of the aesthetic that I'm looking for, since there are so
[303]
many images on Pinterest.
[304]
You can literally find any style or aesthetic that pertains to your OC.
[309]
This is actually what people call a mood board,
[312]
which helps you consolidate an idea to a particular mood or a theme.
[315]
I want my mood or my theme for my avatar to be sleepy and kind of cute.
[320]
So let's find some images and motifs that will add to my sleepy neko vTuber.
[324]
OK, I think I have enough reference images that I can use to paste
[327]
into my Google document sheet.
[329]
So why don't we go ahead and do that now?
[331]
OK, so let's start adding our reference images in here.
[333]
So we're going to go let's do the eyes first.
[337]
Why don't we go into insert go to images and then upload from computer?
[341]
I've already labeled them all to make it a lot easier for me.
[344]
So now I have it looking just like that.
[347]
The mouth shape, I have an image for that, too.
[351]
Why don't we put that in like that?
[355]
And I wonder if it's possible.
[358]
No, wait, maybe I want to go back up over here.
[362]
Sometimes this can be a very finicky program.
[364]
All right. I think that that works OK.
[366]
If you make it a little bit bigger, you probably have more room to work with.
[371]
There we go. OK, now that works so much better. All right.
[374]
So the hair I want kind of like these twin tails kind of ish? For the ears,
[379]
I have a specific image, but I don't want them to think that I want
[384]
all of this. So I'm just going to go here to crop the image
[387]
and we're just going to crop just for this part here.
[391]
And that way, they'll get
[392]
a much better understanding of that specific star capsule.
[396]
I think I have some
[397]
for all the accessories here, which would be kind of like the bandaids.
[402]
But I'm going to crop that
[403]
just to give a better indication of what I'm looking for. Oh, wrong one.
[408]
There we go. And then I have an outfit for this.
[411]
Might need to make that a little bit bigger here.
[414]
And then I also have an image for this.
[416]
Of course, you can always add more details and image references that you want.
[419]
This is just a very basic guideline that I wanted to show you,
[423]
to give you a general idea of what you can do.
[426]
And now I have a good character sheet for my vTuber.
[429]
I hope this video is helpful to anyone who's been struggling
[432]
to create a character for their vTuber, because you really don't need to
[436]
learn how to draw.
[437]
You could take this whole concept that I taught you and you could hire an artist,
[441]
or if you want, you can make your own 3-D vTuber model for free,
[445]
because now you have a reference of what you want to look like.
[447]
And I have a video on how to do all of that
[450]
with a bunch of free vTuber assets.
[453]
So if you want to go check that video,
[454]
then I will leave that link somewhere here in the cards or in my description.
[458]
If you liked this video, then please give it a thumbs up and comment down below
[463]
what your OC ideas are!
[464]
I would love to see what your concept is.
[466]
And, you know, I might even draw your character based off of the things
[470]
that you write down for the descriptions in the comments. Or feel free
[473]
to join our discord if you want to get some feedback on your OC,
[476]
Thanks so much for watching. Bye, Bobas!
