Hi there. Stan The Annuity Man, America's聽 Annuity Agent. Licensed in all 50 states聽聽
[5]
including the beautiful one that you're sitting聽 in. Today's topic is a big one. Annuity news.
[11]
That's like the news ticker. Annuity news. And聽 this is a big one. Vanguard who is no longer聽聽
[16]
in the annuity industry, those policies聽 are now being handled by Transamerica.Two聽聽
[22]
fine companies but I'm getting a lot of calls聽 and you might be one of those people that had聽聽
[26]
that Vanguard annuity that you're now having to聽 call Transamerica. And you're saying yourself,聽聽
[31]
"You know, Stan The Annuity Man, America's聽 Annuity Agent? I need some guidance. I need聽聽
[35]
some therapy. I need you to help me with this聽 because it's driving me crazy!" That's okay.聽聽
[39]
That's why I'm here. But we're not going to聽 do any of that until we hear music right now.
[53]
Alright. So, let's talk about Transamerica聽 and Vanguard. Great companies. I mean,聽聽
[58]
great companies. In fact, I love the聽 Transamerica building. You know, the one you聽聽
[61]
see in San Francisco? Fantastic. But let's do some聽 background on this whole situation. Now, number 1,聽聽
[66]
Vanguard used to sell variable annuities like聽 no-load variable annuities and variable annuities聽聽
[70]
and MYGAs and stuff like the SPIAs and stuff like聽 that. But a couple of years ago, I guess they had聽聽
[74]
the grand pub meeting where they had all the grand聽 poobah Vanguard hats on and they said, "You know聽聽
[78]
what? Let's not sell annuities anymore." And it聽 shocked everybody. But what you need to understand聽聽
[83]
is you're calling Transamerica right now. But聽 when Vanguard sold you that annuity, it was a聽聽
[89]
Transamerica annuity, it was Vanguard that was聽 doing the administrative part of it. And a lot聽聽
[93]
of you love the Vanguard administrative. They're聽 fantastic. Disclaimer, I have a Vanguard account.聽聽
[98]
I'm sure most of you do as well. So, I love聽 them. And I love Transamerica. But when I read聽聽
[103]
the story a while back that Transamerica was now聽 going to take all of those inbound, administrative聽聽
[110]
questions and things like that from Vanguard,聽 because vanguard's out of the annuity business,聽聽
[114]
my first thought about Transamerica is, "Please聽 hire people. Please, please hire a lot of people聽聽
[120]
and buy a lot of phones." Because I just knew it聽 was going to be inundated, inundated, inundated.聽聽
[126]
And it has been. Now, to Transamerica's defense,聽 I mean and... Listen, you got to feel for them.聽聽
[132]
Because number 1, they took this on. But when they聽 took it on, they weren't planning on covid hitting聽聽
[137]
and not having anybody in buildings and everyone's聽 remote. God bless them for this. But it's been聽聽
[142]
messy. A lot of our clients have called and聽 said, "Hey, Stan. Got this Vanguard annuity. Now,聽聽
[146]
I got to call Transamerica." I'm on a 2-hour聽 hold and Martha wants to go eat and I can't be聽聽
[150]
on hold." I understand that, Chester. But that's聽 what's happening they've been inundated. Number 1,聽聽
[155]
be patient with them. Don't yell at them. Yelling聽 doesn't help. Even though I yell. But it doesn't聽聽
[159]
help. They're trying their best. If you want聽 to transfer an annuity from now, Transamerica,聽聽
[164]
wasn't Vanguard. Be very careful. The sharks聽 are swimming. That's a shark swimming. You see聽聽
[169]
that? That's a hand shark. But there's a lot聽 of annuity sharks out there. And any time that聽聽
[173]
they can transfer an annuity, they're going聽 to get paid a commission. Understand this:聽聽
[179]
When you transfer one annuity to another annuity聽 by law, in the application, we do a side-by-side聽聽
[185]
comparison and the annuity that you're coming聽 from (in this case Transamerica), the annuity聽聽
[189]
that you're going to, the one you're going to聽 has to be mathematically better in your favor,聽聽
[194]
not the agent's favor. We have to prove math,聽 side-by-side comparison. That is better for you.聽聽
[200]
When someone says, "It's a mess over there in聽 Transamerica. Let's move it over here this fixed聽聽
[205]
indexed annuity and I'll get you an upfront聽 bonus for moving it." If you're going to buy聽聽
[209]
an annuity for a bonus then you're not smart.聽 I call it bonuses candy for the stupid. And you聽聽
[214]
can quote me on that and the industry can quote聽 me on that. I wish they'd just get rid of them,聽聽
[218]
okay? The other thing too is agents that advise聽 people to move an annuity for the bonus to make up聽聽
[224]
for whatever surrender charge, that's not right聽 and it's not legal. Okay? So, if anyone says,聽聽
[228]
"Well, forget those surrender charges. We'll just聽 move it over here. Get you enough front bonuses聽聽
[232]
to cover the surrender charge." That's illegal聽 and they should lose their license for that.聽聽
[237]
We're going through an interesting time in the聽 annuity life insurance industry. There's a lot聽聽
[241]
of people that are coming in a lot of big money聽 people and buying things up. And you got to say,聽聽
[245]
"Why Stan The Annuity Man?" Because annuities聽 are the most boring thing on the planet because聽聽
[249]
they're contracts. Of course, they're boring. I聽 mean I'm the spice to the boring, of course. But聽聽
[254]
the reason that people are coming in to buy things聽 in the annuity industry is because there's over聽聽
[259]
10,000 baby boomers reaching age 65 every single聽 day. What do I call that? A demographic tidal wave聽聽
[266]
living in Florida. I mean that's what it is. So,聽 a lot of companies want to get ahead of that.聽聽
[270]
Can't blame them. So, what I'm trying to say聽 is with Vanguard in the Transamerica situation聽聽
[275]
where you have some changing of the guard as聽 they say, this isn't the last one, player.聽聽
[279]
This is going to happen a lot coming forward.聽 So, I would just encourage you to be patient聽聽
[284]
and don't get frustrated and pull the trigger and聽 make a bad decision on the annuity that you have.聽聽
[290]
Transamerica, they're figuring this thing out.聽 The wait times are decreasing, they're doing a聽聽
[294]
heck of a job. They've just been dealt a pretty聽 bad deck of cards here at a pretty bad time聽聽
[298]
period at the time of this taping with covid.聽 They'll work itself out. But what I want you聽聽
[302]
to do is not make a knee-jerk reaction and say,聽 "I'm just going to transfer this one." No. Look聽聽
[310]
at what you have. Look at the benefits that you聽 have. And if you want to schedule a call with me,聽聽
[314]
Stan The Annuity Man, America's Annuity Agent,聽 license 50 states; you can get me on the horn聽聽
[318]
for 30 minutes. I will look at it and say, "Okay,聽 you know here's what you have", etc. Now, here's聽聽
[323]
the disclaimer though. You guys said, "Well, Stan.聽 That's pretty cool. You told me about Transamerica聽聽
[326]
and the variable annuity and Vanguard."聽 Disclaimer. I don't sell variable annuities.聽聽
[330]
I just don't. Nothing against them but I don't聽 sell anything that goes down or has the potential聽聽
[335]
to go down. The inside investments are separate聽 accounts. Me and you call them mutual funds.聽聽
[340]
But they have the ability to go down. I just don't聽 sell anything that goes down. I'm a contractual聽聽
[345]
guarantees-only person. My saying that I have聽 tattooed really big on the back like my back. No,聽聽
[350]
actually not. I should but it's "Will do, not聽 might do." You own an annuity for what it will do聽聽
[355]
not what it might do. And the will do or the聽 contractual guarantees. You don't buy the dream,聽聽
[360]
you own the contractual realities. But with聽 this situation with Vanguard and Transamerica,聽聽
[364]
I thought it was timely. And since I'm the voice聽 of the annuity world in the annuity industry and聽聽
[368]
the thought leader here in the annuity industry,聽 bar none, undisputed. Stan The Annuity Man,聽聽
[373]
America's Annuity Agent. I thought it was聽 important for me to talk to you and calm聽聽
[377]
you down a little bit. You're saying, "Stan,聽 you're telling me to calm down. Look at you,聽聽
[380]
man. You're sweating. You're yelling". I聽 understand. You have a variable annuity or聽聽
[384]
some annuity that you bought at Vanguard that's聽 now being administrated by Transamerica that was聽聽
[388]
originally Transamerica annuity. But now, they're聽 just administrating it. Not vanguard. Relax, calm聽聽
[393]
down. Send me the statement or review, schedule a聽 call. It's all going to be okay. Baseball analogy聽聽
[399]
for all you baseball people. By the way, history聽 lessons, Stan The Annuity Man --Stan, I was named聽聽
[403]
after Stan Musial of the St Louis Cardinals. Now,聽 of course, I'm a contrarian. I played basketball.聽聽
[407]
But foggy's out there know who's Stan Musial is.聽 But the reason I put the hat backwards, I want to聽聽
[411]
be the catcher. I want to be the catcher. I want聽 to catch the anger that you have right now and I聽聽
[416]
want to look at the policy that you have and make聽 sure you're not going to make a rash decision to聽聽
[421]
transfer it because some person told you, "Upfront聽 bonus and market upside with no downside." You're聽聽
[427]
smarter than that, okay? You're smarter than that.聽 Hey, because you're watching this video. So, with聽聽
[431]
Stan The Annuity Man, America's Annuity Agent. But聽 I'm the catcher. Let me catch your policy. Let me聽聽
[436]
look at it. Let me catch your anger. Schedule聽 a call. Let me catch everything right now and聽聽
[440]
slow you down because Transamerica is doing the聽 best that they can. Trust me. Great people there.聽聽
[447]
I know them. Great people they're doing the best聽 they can. They will solve this. The waiting times聽聽
[452]
on the calls are going down. It's all going to聽 be okay. I promise you that. Hey, do me a favor.聽聽
