How I Edit My YouTube Videos | Garima's Good Life (English Subtitles) - YouTube
Channel: Garima's Good Life
[3]
Hello friends my name is Garima
and I welcome you to my channel
[7]
Garima's Good life
[8]
Today's video is about
how I edit my videos?
[13]
I know, my channel
is not a technical channel.
[16]
But then also, there are a lot
of people who keep asking me
[20]
after seeing my videos
[21]
and especially when my videos got popular.
[24]
So a lot of you ask
in the comments section
[26]
that which software I use?
And how I edit my videos?
[30]
So today, I'm making
this video only for you.
[33]
I also did a poll,
[34]
and 8000 people voted in that poll
saying they want to see this video.
[39]
So you guys out there,
you better make sure,
[41]
you like this video,
of course, only if you find it interesting.
[45]
I'll take you guys to my laptop screen and
show you actually how I edit my videos?
[49]
But before that, I want to tell you
[52]
if you edit videos on your phone or
in laptop or you're doing it in any app
[58]
you need to remember three basic things.
[60]
Because these are the three main things in
editing, to put together an entire video.
[65]
The video element, the audio
element and the text element.
[69]
Video element is the
footage/clippings that you shoot
[72]
or video files you download.
[78]
The audio, it comprises of two things.
[81]
One is the audio that comes along
with the video recording
[84]
and secondly, the underlayers that you add,
[87]
which could be some music
or maybe a recorded voice over.
[90]
And thirdly, the text
or the graphic part of it
[93]
like the titles or the logo
that I insert in my videos.
[99]
In any software you have to take
care of these three things only.
[103]
Friends I have told you earlier that
how minimal is my shooting set up,
[107]
I shoot on my phone and in similar way
my editing setup is also minimalistic.
[112]
The dining table of my
house is my editing table.
[114]
This is my MacBook Air in which I
edit my videos, and I will show you how?
[121]
While editing I need a cup of tea
[124]
and of course the headphones
plus my antiglare glasses.
[128]
I am a Mass Comm graduate
and a gold medallist at that,
[132]
so in our college and also in my
first job which was in media,
[135]
there, we had to edit our own clips
[138]
and therefore I've editing
knowledge for a long time.
[141]
Let's see, how I edit my videos,
so cutting to my computer screen now.
[145]
This is my computer screen
and this is iMovie software.
[150]
And here, there are four clips
that I shot recently.
[154]
So let me line up these clips
on the edit line up on the screen.
[158]
I start by creating a new project here
[162]
I have to import my media
[165]
These four clips are my today's files.
[169]
And all these files
will be imported on my screen here.
[177]
So import selected.
[181]
Now to edit them,
I have to take them to my timeline.
[186]
In any software you have to
drag your clips to the timeline.
[189]
Suppose I take it down like this,
so this is clip no 1, let me resize it.
[195]
This is a clip no 2, no 3 and no 4.
[201]
This will be the intro
[208]
So this is my opening clip
that you're listening to.
[211]
Like this video, of course,
only if you find it interesting.
[215]
So I want to get it here,
I've pressed Control + D
[219]
As I don't need the entire clip,
so I will delete it.
[222]
my antiglare glasses.
[225]
I think this is a repeat clip
so I'll just delete it.
[230]
Yeah, this is it.
[232]
So I will join this.
[238]
So that was a goof up,
that's why I will go a little back
[241]
And again with Control + D
I'll delete it.
[249]
So these are my three basic clips.
[253]
I have downloaded copyright free
music from YouTube to my computer,
[260]
YouTube gives you free music which
you can use without any copyright issues.
[265]
So I will find one of the music here.
[272]
No, this one.
[278]
Maybe, so I can drag and drop it here.
[283]
This music file has come to the iMovie,
and now I have to drag and drop
[290]
in the timeline under the clippings.
[292]
Its audio level is too high and
showing red, so I have to lower this.
[297]
And this is how it'll sound.
[305]
Adding music is easy, isn't it?
[308]
After that very important,
let me close this folder.
[312]
I have another folder called
Channel essentials.
[317]
This is the text and graphics part.
[321]
Now if I want to add a Instagram symbol
[324]
or I have to add
like, share and subscribe symbol
[327]
or if I need to add the 3 second intro
video, then I'll drag and drop that here too.
[339]
And also if I want to use
the like, share and subscribe symbol.
[346]
That I have taken it from here.
[348]
Now I have to add this clip
in the beginning.
[352]
You must have seen it
when my videos start playing.
[356]
And, to overlay this, we use this upper
layer which is used for graphic and text.
[366]
I will pull it a little bit because
I need it for 12 seconds,
[369]
I will double-click on it and
I will go to the crop option
[373]
where I will press the 'Fit' option
[376]
and then I'll click this icon,
and come to 'picture in picture'.
[379]
Now it has shrunken in size,
Did you see that?
[382]
Now I can adjust it's width and hight.
[390]
The music is very loud,
so I have to lower it's level.
[399]
So in this way
you can insert symbols here.
[402]
Plus if I need to insert titles
[404]
You can get options
for bigger titles here.
[408]
In iMovie in-build options
are given for titling.
[411]
Suppose I type in
"How I edit my videos"
[420]
So I typed this title here.
[427]
If I want to insert something
like slug or small title,
[432]
for that also we get options here.
[434]
You see that in the title,
so I generally like this one.
[437]
For that also, I can type in here.
[440]
"How to edit YouTube videos"
[448]
So in this way my timeline is ready.
[452]
Well this edit was quite simple,
let me show you a complicated timeline.
[458]
How To Edit Videos
and I saved it.
[462]
This was a simple timeline
let me show you a complete timeline
[466]
like, you saw my last video
of the exhibition.
[468]
Let me show you its timeline.
[471]
And this is my logo throughout.
[474]
Then I did voice-overs in it,
because I had to do some layerings in it.
[479]
If I had to add my voice over,
then I'll record my voice overs in iPhone
[483]
and again I will import that
voice-over in this software
[487]
and then I can place that
voice-over whenever I needed.
[490]
So, how bulky the timeline
of this five minute video looks, isn't it?
[496]
If you see FCP or any other software
it's timeline is more bulky.
[501]
The biggest advantage of iMovie
is that this software is very quick.
[505]
Though you do not get that many
layering options in iMovie.
[507]
It's basic, you get
one text layer, two video layers.
[511]
And there are four audio layers below,
[513]
because of this our project
did not get that much heavy.
[517]
I'll go back to
the project I created today,
[520]
and if I wanted to
publish that to YouTube
[523]
so there is this icon here.
[524]
I'll go to file 'how to edit videos',
then this is 1080p which is HD.
[530]
I kept it faster, my total file
size is 248.2 MB, I'll go to next.
[535]
And I'll save.
[539]
Now my project
will start to render here,
[543]
and in the next five minutes,
I'll be ready with my clip.
[547]
If you find this video useful and you learn
something from it, then please like it
[553]
also tell me in the comment box,
and which type of videos
[556]
you'd like to see in my channel?
[558]
That's all in today's episode,
Love you all.
