Honda S2000 Oil Change Tutorial - YouTube
Channel: TechTuners
[7]
Okay so this is what you need to do an
oil change on a Honda s2000
[10]
main thing is that oil, I've got 5w40
[15]
Castrol Edge with the red-top don't buy the
turbo diesel
[19]
I've got 2 of those because you will need more than one
[23]
and you can use the rest to top up, if you need to
[26]
I've got obviously 2 axle stands
[29]
just gonna try and use the standard jack
the
[33]
trolley jack that I've got is just to
high and it won't fit underneath
[36]
got the drainer which is a six litre (capacity)
[42]
so that's more than enough, I have a Hamp
[47]
oil filter which is pretty much a
[51]
the same as the, I think it's exactly the
same as the recommended latest
[55]
Honda one, I've got the new, the genuine Honda
[59]
oil filter removal tool and
[63]
I've got a 17mm socket on the ratchet, I believe it's 17mm
[70]
but I'll find out in a bit and then I've got the new sump
[73]
plug which I upgraded to a magnetic one
with obviously a new washer
[77]
as well. So first thing is to jack up the car.
[83]
Just so that everyone knows you can't get
[86]
one of these Halfords big red jacks underneath the car
[92]
if you're using the standard Honda jack that comes with the car
[97]
because that's how high it goes and
there's the jack
[104]
so it's just a few mm out
[107]
but you can't go any higher with that
so you do need
[111]
to use a different jack.
[116]
Okay so due to the sump plug being on so tight
[120]
I've had to bring it to a garage, luckily
[122]
I have access to a garage so we're going to try it on the ramps here
[126]
today the car is currently on
[129]
73,901 miles
[132]
and it's Saturday the 26th of April
[143]
so we've still got the same oil, all the other
parts are still the same
[146]
let's get the sump plug off
[151]
right so we're gonna give it a go with one of
these hench
[155]
Snap-On spanners
[159]
so just seeing if I can crack the bolt
[173]
and there it is
[176]
right so the oil caps off from the top
the engine, now we just need to get the
[180]
oil out, hopefully I won't spill too much
[200]
so we let that drain out
[207]
as you might be able to see this washer on this
one
[210]
is long gone, it's completely mashed
[214]
onto the sump plug, so luckily I do have a new one
[219]
to put on this time, otherwise you might risk
[223]
losing oil
[227]
right so basically this filter on here
[231]
this new filter is a lot smaller
and the
[235]
the genuine Honda oil filter cap
[238]
doesn't fit over what's on there at
the minute, so I don't know if it's going to
[242]
be
[243]
a different size or if the thread is actually going to end up working and it will go on
[262]
okay so as you can see I pulled off this
Unipart oil filter
[266]
and it is a lot bigger
[269]
than the Hamp one
[274]
as you can see, but the
[277]
the sills do match up so we're just gonna
go ahead and fit it
[281]
and it should be all okay
[284]
okay so now we fit the oil filter
[290]
get a bit of oil
[292]
fresh oil around the sill
[299]
and we'll fit it on hand tight
[308]
it's in a slightly more difficult position than the
[311]
old Civic Type R that I used to have but luckily
[315]
on the ramps it's an easy job
[320]
okay so I've got a fresh sump plug here, it's a magnetic sump
[323]
plug, with a fresh washer
[328]
now that the oils only dripping very slowly
[332]
I left it for about 20 minutes
[335]
we're just going to install the
[337]
new sump plug, and get the oil in
[341]
the oil filter is already installed
[363]
right so let's fill her back up
[376]
so when you've put in about 4 litres it's a good time to check the dipstick
[384]
and
[386]
that looks just on the high level
[393]
remember to put the oil cap back on
[401]
and now run it for a few minutes
[403]
so after a minute or so of idling
[406]
I did top up another half a litre
[409]
just to make sure it is full
[411]
gonna run it for another minute or so and then
[414]
I will test the dipstick again
